I saw the the opening at _________l and am applying for the Secondary Social Studies Position.
With my desire to build strong teacher/student relationships to facilitate better student engagement
I will be a great asset to the Spring Lake community.
Having spent my primary and secondary years in the Whitehall School environment, I am familiar
with the commitment to a small town community. Furthermore, I have just completed 1 year of
both teacher assisting and student teaching with Craig Thompson. Creating a classroom
environment that is supportive and engaging has always been an important aspect of my class.
Being a part of a small town I realize that there is a larger commitment to the community. This
commitment to the community within and outside the classroom will be a focus of the class.
Learning will be both theoretical and practical, since this will bring students closer to the material.
Nearing the end of the semester students will be expected to formulate projects that engage them
with the outside community. This is an important aspect of the social sciences. It is meant to
foster a stronger connection to their role as a citizen. With this in mind, it is important to have
students connect their learning to current events that are both local and national. Finally, there is
a need to incorporate technology in the classroom. I have used Google Classroom to reduce paper
consumption and give students access to all documents in a unit. I believe that responsible
technology integration increases student engagement. Additionally, I enjoy the challenge of
learning new technology and sharing its use with my colleagues.
I would like to thank you for your time and consideration for this position. I am looking forward
to talking with you more about about this position.
Sincerely,
Wesley J. Davis
