first is because students need to increase their knowledge. Students need to increase
their knowledge in order to have input. Moreover for college students who have to know
more about anything. It is because college students are not only given direct material in
the class from their lecturer, but also they have to explore more from outside the class.

Besides, college students can gain more knowledge related to their major from many

The second reason why students have to read a lot of articles and news is because
students need to update information. The information that we can get from online sites
are always be novelty, so if students don’t have courage to know about what is novelty,
the students would know nothing about what’s happening now.

I think it is very important for students to know more about any motions that are in the air.
It shows that students have awareness of what around them. At least students have to
be familiar with some global issues that will be mentioned in some situation. For example,
if students are learning about civic education especially human right, the conflicts that are
happening in the middle east, such as war, terror, kudeta, is very interesting to be discuss
in an intellectual forum like in college. It again can build the critical thinking of students.
However, how will students could think about what is happening in the middle east if they
never read about it. Students don’t have to be expert, but only be aware about what’s
going on.

Then, for our case in Indonesia especially in this election situation, there are so many
hoax around us. Students, as an intellectual resources, must be advance in avoiding hoax
issues. By reading articles and news from credible sites and also the trustworthy experts,
students will be able to consider what is true and what is untrue. Students, to be expected,
will not contribute to speard hoax by the reason that they don’t know whether the news is
true or untrue. Find out the truth about issues that seems strange or too extreme by
checking some credible, well-known news website and articles that are written by the
experts. Example, if you want to know about the development of finance in Indonesia,
first you must read articles or at least caption that written by Sri Mulyani as the ministry
of finance, or read many news from many different well-known website.

The last, reading online news or articles doesn’t waste your time at all because you can
read it anytime while you don’t have any job to do. You can read news when you are
waiting for train, bus, or in the class when the lecturer hasn’t come yet. It only took several
