Month of Sha’ban
The Holy Prophet (saws) used to say, “Sha`ban is my month; hence, Paradise will
be incumbently decided for him who observe fasting on one day of my month.”
Imam Ali (a.s) has said, ‘For one who observes fasting in Sha`ban on account of
love for the Messenger of Allah (a.s) and seeking nearness to Allah (swt), Allah
(swt) will love him and will draw him near to His honor on the Resurrection Day
and will decide Paradise for him incumbently.’
Imam Ali Reza (as) has said, “Whoever fasts one day of Shaban, just for the sake
of God’s reward he will enter the heaven and whoever repents to Allah seventy
times, on the Day of Judgment he will be raised with the Prophet and God’s
appreciation will be obligatory on him. Whoever donates in this month even by
half of a date, God will forbid his body to go to hell. Whoever fasts three days of
Shaban and connects these days to the month of Ramadan, God will give him the
reward for the two complete months.”

General Acts in Sha`ban
It is also recommended to observe fasting on Thursdays in Sha`ban. In this respect,

a °ad¢th reads that the heavens decorate themselves each Thursday in Sha`ban and
the angels pray Allah (swt), saying, “O our God: (please do) forgive him who
observe fasting on this day and respond to his prayers.”
The Holy Prophet (a.s) is also reported as saying, “If one observe fasting each
Monday and Thursday in Sha`ban, Allah (swt) will settle forty of his needs—20
related to the worldly life and 20 to the Hereafter.”
It is highly recommended to send plenty of salutations (recite salawat) upon the

Holy Prophet and his Household in the month of Sha’ban.

and the Household of Muhammad. ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times

each day in Sha`ban:
I seek the forgiveness of
Allah and I pray Him for
ُ‫َأسْ َتغْفِرُ ال ّلهَ وَأَسْأَُله‬
approval of my
repentance.
.َ‫التَّ ْوَبة‬
It is recommended to recite the following prayer of seeking forgiveness 70 times

each day in Sha`ban:
I seek forgiveness of َ‫َأسْ َتغْفِرُ ال ّلهَ الَّذِي ال إله‬
Allah, there is no god
save Whom, َ‫إالَّ ُهو‬
the All-beneficent, the
All-merciful,
ُ‫الرَّحْمنُ الرَّحِيم‬
the Ever-living, the
Everlasting
ُ‫الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوْم‬
and to Him I turn
repentant.
.ِ‫وَأَتُوبُ إلَ ْيه‬
According to narrations, the best supplications in the month of Sha`ban are the
prayers of seeking forgiveness of Allah (swt) (i.e. istighfar). Hence, to seek Allah
(swt)’s forgiveness 70 times a day in Sha`ban is equal to seeking His forgiveness
70,000 times a day in the other months.
It is recommended to give alms in this month even if it is as small as a half date.
It is recommended to repeat the following invocation 1000 times in Sha`ban:

There is no god save
Allah;
،ُ‫ال إلهَ إالَّ ال ّله‬
and we serve none save
Him,
ُ‫وَال َنعْبُدُ إالَّ إيَّاه‬
being sincere to Him in
obedience,
َ‫خلِصِينَ َلهُ الدِّين‬ ْ ُ‫م‬
Though the unbelievers
are averse.
.َ‫وََلوْ كَرِهَ الْمُشْرِكُون‬
The reward of him who recites this is as if it he has served (Allah (swt) for 1000
years.
Thursday Salaah in the month of Sha’ban
It is recommended to offer a two Rakàh prayer each Thursday in Sha`ban.

In each Rakàh, it is recommended to recite S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once followed by
S£rah Tawhid 100 times.
After salaam, recite 100 times;
O Allah, (please) bless Muhammad
and the Household of Muhammad. ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
1st of Sha’ban
Recite 12 rakaats, with the recitation of the Chapter of Ikhlas 11 times after the
recitation of the Chapter on Al-Hamd.
It is a day of great excellence and it has been reported from Ja’far Sadiq (as)
that whoever fasts on that day is assured of Heaven.
Seyyid ibn Tawoos has reported from the Holy Messenger (saw) that a person who
fasts on the first three days of this month and on their eve recites 2 rakaats in
each of which he recites after the Chapter on Al-Hamd, the Chapter on Ikhlas
11 times will be greatly rewarded.
Daily Salwaat
It is reported through authentic sources that Imam Zainul Abideen (as) used to
recite the following Salawat every day in Sha`ban at the time sun passes the
merdian (waqt-e-Zawal) and on the night of 15 th Sha`ban.
The salawat is as under & confirms the exhalted position of the Ahlulbayt
O Allah: (please do) send ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬

blessings upon Mu¦ammad and
the Household of Mu¦ammad— ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
the tree of Prophethood; ،ِ‫شَجَرَةِ النُّبُوَّة‬
and the trustees of the (Divine)
Mission;
،ِ‫ضعِ الرِِّسَاَلة‬
ِ ‫َومَو‬
and the frequently visited by the
angels;
،ِ‫كة‬
َ ِ‫َومُخْ َتلَفِ الْمَالئ‬
and the core of knowledge; ،ِ‫َو َمعْدِنِ اْلعِلْم‬
and the Household of the Divine
Revelation.
.ِ‫وَأَهْلِ بَيْتِ اْلوَحْي‬
the Family of Muhammad— ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
the sailing ships through the ِ‫الْ ُفلْكِ الْجَارَِيةِ فِي اللُّجَج‬
abysmal waves.
،ِ‫اْلغَامِرَة‬
He who embarks on will be saved ،‫يَ ْأ َمنُ َمنْ رَكِبَهَا‬
but he who abandons will be
drowned.
،‫وََيغْرَقُ َمنْ تَرَكَهَا‬
He who precedes them will miss
the Right Path
،ٌ‫الْمُتَقَدِّمُ لَهُمْ مَارِق‬
and he misses them will lose, ،ٌ‫وَالْمُتَأَخِّرُ عَنْهُمْ زَاهِق‬
but he who adheres to them will
win.
.ٌ‫وَالالزِمُ لَهُمْ الحِق‬
O Allah: (please do) send
blessings upon Mu¦ammad and ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬
the Household of Mu¦ammad—
ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
the impregnable shelter; ،ِ‫الْكَهْفِ الْحَصِين‬
and the succorers of the helpless, ِّ‫وَغِيَاثِ الْمُضْطَر‬
distressed ones;
،ِ‫الْمُسْتَكِين‬
and the haven of the fugitives; ،َ‫َو َملْجَاَ الْهَا ِربِين‬
and the asylum of those who seek
refuge.
.َ‫وَعِصْ َمةِ الْ ُمعْتَصِمِين‬
the Household of Mu¦ammad ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
so much blessings that please ْ‫صَالةً كَثِيرَةً تَكُونُ لَهُم‬
them
،ً‫رِضا‬
and settle all (our) duties towards ٍ‫وَلِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
Mu¦ammad and the Household of
Mu¦ammad ً‫أَدَاءً وَقَضَاء‬
by Your might and power; O the
َّ‫حوْلٍ مِنْكَ وَقُوَّةٍ يَا رَب‬
َ ِ‫ب‬
Lord of the worlds.
.َ‫اْلعَالَمِين‬
the Household of Mu¦ammad— ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
the pure, the pious, the righteous ،ِ‫ألبْرَارِ األَخْيَار‬
َ ‫الطَّيِّبِينَ ا‬
whose rights have been made
incumbent upon us by You
،ْ‫الَّذِينَ أَوْجَبْتَ حُقُوقَهُم‬
and the obedience to whom has
been deemed obligatory upon us
by You and whose (divinely
ْ‫وَفَرَضْتَ طَاعَتَهُم‬
commissioned) leadership has
been (also) deemed obligatory
.ْ‫وَوِاليَتَهُم‬
upon us by You.

the Household of Mu¦ammad; ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
and fill in my heart with the
obedience to You;
،َ‫وَاعْمُرْ َقلْبِي بِطَاعَتِك‬
and do not disgrace me by acts of
disobedience to You;
،َ‫وَال تُخْ ِزنِي بِ َمعْصِيَتِك‬
and grant me the feeling of
sympathy towards those whom ْ‫وَا ْرزُقْنِي ُموَاسَاةَ َمن‬
You have decided to straighten
their sustenance
َ‫قَتَّرْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِمنْ ِرزْقِك‬
by means of Your favors that ْ‫بِمَا وَسَّعْتَ َعلَيَّ ِمن‬
You have decided to make
expansive for me ،َ‫ضلِك‬
ْ َ‫ف‬
and by means of that with which
You have covered me out of Your ،َ‫َونَشَرْتَ َعلَيَّ ِمنْ عَدْلِك‬
fairness;
and make me live under Your
shade.
،َ‫وَأَحْيَيْتَنِي تَحْتَ ظِلِّك‬
This is the month of Your ِ‫وَهذَا شَهْرُ نَبِيِّكَ سَيِّد‬
Prophet and the Master of Your
Messengers. َ‫سلِك‬
ُ ُ‫ر‬
It is Sha`ban, which You have ُ‫شعْبَانُ الَّذِي حَفَفْ َته‬
َ
encompassed with Your mercy
and pleasure, ِ‫ضوَان‬
ْ ِّ‫مِنْكَ بِالرَّحْ َمةِ وَالر‬
and on which the Messenger of ِ‫الَّذِي كَانَ َرسُولُ ال ّله‬
Allah—peace and blessings be
upon him and his Family—used
ِ‫صَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَ ْيهِ وَآِله‬
to observe fasting painstakingly
and used to spend it with acts of
ِ‫َوسَلَّمَ يَدْأَبُ فِي صِيَا ِمه‬
worship
ِ‫وَقِيَامِه‬
on all of its days and night ِ‫فِي لَيَالِيهِ وَأَيَّامِه‬
on account of Your honoring and ِ‫بُخُوعاً لَكَ فِي إكْرَا ِمه‬
dignifying this month, up to his
death. ِّ‫وَإعْظَا ِمهِ إلَى مَحَل‬
.ِ‫حِمَا ِمه‬
O Allah: (please do) help us
follow the example of him (i.e.
‫اللّهُمَّ فَأَعِنَّا عَلَى‬
the Holy Prophet as regards the
honoring of this month)
،ِ‫اإلسْتِنَانِ بِسُنَّ ِتهِ فِيه‬
and help us attain nearness to
him.
.ِ‫َونَيْلِ الشَّفَا َعةِ لَدَْيه‬
O Allah: (please do) decide him
as my interceder (before You)
ً‫ج َع ْلهُ لِي شَفِيعا‬
ْ ‫اللّهُمَّ وَا‬
whose intercession for me is
acceptable
،ً‫مُشَفَّعا‬
and as my clear path toward You; ،ً‫وَطَرِيقاً إلَيْكَ مَهْيَعا‬
and make me follow him until I ‫ج َعلْنِي َلهُ مُتَّبِعاً حَتَّى‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
meet You on the Resurrection
Day enjoying Your pleasure with
‫أَلْقَاكَ َيوْمَ الْقِيَا َمةِ عَنِّي‬
me
،ً‫رَاضِيا‬
and Your overlooking my sins ،ً‫وَ َعنْ ُذنُوبِي غَاضِيا‬
and thus You will confer upon َ‫قَدْ أَوْجَبْتَ لِي مِنْك‬
me with Your mercy and pleasure
،َ‫ضوَان‬
ْ ِّ‫الرَّحْ َمةَ وَالر‬
and allow me to reside in the ِ‫وََأنْزَلْتَنِي دَارَ الْقَرَار‬
Eternal Abode and the Place of
the Righteous. .ِ‫َومَحَلِّ األَخْيَار‬
Al-Munajat al-Sha`baniyyah
It is recommended to recite the following munajat that has been narrated by Ibn
Khalawayh who commented on it, saying, “This is the confidential prayer of Imam
Àl¢ Am¢r al-Mu'min¢n and the Holy Imams, his descendants, (a.s) who used to
utter it in the month of Sha`ban.”
O Allah: (please do) send
blessings upon Mu¦ammad
ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّد‬
and the Household of
Mu¦ammad;
ٍ‫وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
and listen to my prayer

‫وَاسْ َمعْ دُعَائِي إذَا‬
whenever I pray You;
،َ‫دَ َعوْتُك‬
and listen to my call
whenever I call upon you;
،َ‫وَاسْ َمعْ نِدَائِي إذَا نَادَيْتُك‬
and accept from me whenever
I confidentially whisper to َ‫وَأَقْبِلْ عَلَيَّ إذَا نَاجَيْتُك‬
You,
for here I am fleeing into
You,
،َ‫فَقَدْ هَ َربْتُ إلَيْك‬
and I am standing before You َ‫وَوَقَفْتُ بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬

showing submission to You,
،َ‫مُسْتَكِيناً لَك‬
imploring You, ،َ‫مُتَضَرِّعاً إلَيْك‬
hoping for the reward that
You have.
،‫رَاجِياً لِمَا لَدَيْكَ َثوَابِي‬
And You do know what is in
my inner self;
،‫وََت ْعلَمُ مَا فِي نَفْسِي‬
and You understand my
needs;
،‫وَتَخْبُرُ حَاجَتِي‬
and You recognize my
essence;
،‫وََتعْرِفُ ضَمِيرِي‬
and all my moves and

ُ‫وَال يَخْفَى َعلَيْكَ َأمْر‬
stillness are known by You;
،َ‫مُنْ َقلَبِي َومَ ْثوَاي‬
and so are all the utterance
which I want to begin with
ْ‫دئَ ِبهِ ِمن‬
ِ ْ‫َومَا ُأرِيدُ أَنْ ُأب‬
،‫مَنْطِقِي‬
and all the requests that I
want to express
،‫وَأَتَفَوَّهَ ِبهِ ِمنْ َطلِبَتِي‬
and all the expectation that I
hope for my future.
،‫وََأرْجُوهُ ِلعَاقِبَتِي‬
All that which You, O my

َّ‫وَقَدْ جَرَتْ مَقَادِيرُكَ َعلَي‬
Master, have decided for me
‫يَا سَيِّدِي‬
ِ‫فِيمَا يَكُونُ مِنِّي إلَى آخِر‬
up to the end of my life,
‫عُمْرِي‬
including my secret and open
matters, shall be experienced ‫ِمنْ سَرِيرَتِي وَعَالنِيَتِي‬
by me.
And it is in Your, not َ‫َوبِيَدِكَ ال بِيَدِ غَيْرِك‬
anybody else, Hand are all
increase and decrease, ‫زِيَادَتِي َونَقْصِي‬
and my benefits and harms
that come upon me.
.‫َونَ ْفعِي وَضَرِّي‬
O my God: If You deprive me
(of Your sustenance), then ‫إلهِي إنْ حَ َرمْتَنِي فَ َمنْ ذَا‬
who else can ever provide me
with sustenance?
‫الَّذِي يَ ْرزُقُنِي؟‬
And if You disappoint me, ‫وَإنْ خَذَلْتَنِي فَ َمنْ ذَا الَّذِي‬
then who else can ever back
me? ‫يَنْصُ ُرنِي؟‬
O my God: I do seek Your
protection against Your wrath
ْ‫إلهِي أَعُوذُ بِكَ ِمن‬
and against the befalling of
Your ire upon me.
.َ‫حلُولِ سَخَطِك‬
ُ َ‫غَضَبِكَ و‬
O my God: If I do not deserve َ‫إلهِي إنْ كُنْتُ غَيْر‬

Your mercy,
َ‫مُسْتَأْهِلٍ لِرَحْمَتِك‬
You are still expected to َّ‫فَ َأنْتَ أَهْلٌ أَنْ تَجُودَ َعلَي‬
confer upon me with Your
expansive favor. .َ‫سعَتِك‬
َ ِ‫بِفَضْل‬
O my God: I now imagine

ٌ‫إلهِي كَأَنِّي بِنَفْسِي وَاقِ َفة‬
how I will stand before You
َ‫بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬
shaded by my good idea about ‫سنُ َتوَكُّلِي‬
ْ ُ‫وَقَدْ أَظَلَّهَا ح‬
You on account of my trust in
You, َ‫َعلَيْك‬
and You will decide for me
that which befit You and You ُ‫فَ ُقلْتَ مَا َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُله‬
will include me with Your
forgiveness.
.َ‫وََتغَمَّدْتَنِي ِبعَ ْفوِك‬
O my God: If you pardon me, ‫إلهِي إنْ عَ َفوْتَ فَ َمنْ أَوْلَى‬
then who else is worthier than
You are in pardoning. ‫مِنْكَ بِذلِكَ؟‬
And if my time of death is
approaching while my deeds
ْ‫وَإنْ كَانَ قَدْ َدنَا أَجَلِي وَلَم‬
are still too short to approach
me to You,
‫دنِنِي مِنْكَ عَ َملِي‬
ْ ُ‫ي‬
I am then considering my ِ‫ج َعلْتُ اإلقْرَارَ بِالذَّنْب‬
َ ْ‫فَقَد‬
confession of being guilty to
be my means towards You. ‫إلَيْكَ َوسِيلَتِي‬
O my God: I have wronged ‫إلهِي قَدْ جُرْتُ عَلَى‬
myself when I allowed myself
to behave unrestrainedly; ‫نَفْسِي فِي النَّظَرِ لَهَا‬
therefore, woe will betide
myself if You do not forgive.
.‫َفلَهَا اْلوَيْلُ إنْ لَمْ َتغْفِرْ لَهَا‬
O my God: You have never َّ‫إلهِي لَمْ يَزَلْ بِرُّكَ َعلَي‬
ceased Your favors from me
all over my lifetime; ‫أَيَّامَ حَيَاتِي‬
so, (please) do not stop Your ‫طعْ بِرَّكَ عَنِّي فِي‬
َ ْ‫فَال تَق‬
favors from covering me after
my death. .‫مَمَاتِي‬
O my God: How can I despair ْ‫إلهِي كَيفَ آيَسُ مِن‬
of Your nice custody over me
after my death َ‫سنِ نَظَرِكَ لِي َبعْد‬
ْ ُ‫ح‬
‫مَمَاتِي‬
while You have not shown me َ‫وََأنْتَ لَمْ ُتوَلِّنِي إالَّ الْجَمِيل‬
but the good throughout my
lifetime? .‫فِي حَيَاتِي‬
O my God: (please) manage ‫إلهِي َتوَلَّ ِمنْ َأمْرِي مَا‬
my affairs in the very way
that befits You; ،ُ‫َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُله‬
and confer upon me—a sinful ‫ضلِكَ َعلَى‬
ْ َ‫وَعُدْ َعلَيَّ بِف‬
who is covered by his
ignorance—with Your favors. .ُ‫ذنِبٍ قَدْ غَمَرَهُ جَ ْه ُله‬
ْ ُ‫م‬
O my God: You have ً‫إلهِي قَدْ سَتَرْتَ َعلَيَّ ُذنُوبا‬
concealed my sins in my
worldly life, ‫فِي الدُّنْيَا‬
but I need Your concealment ‫ح َوجُ إلَى سَتْرِهَا‬
ْ َ‫وََأنَا أ‬
more urgently in the Next
Life. ‫َعلَيَّ مِنْكَ فِي األُخْرَى‬
You have thus not disclosed ْ‫إذْ لَمْ تُظْهِرْهَا ألحَدٍ ِمن‬
my sins before any of Your
righteous servants; َ‫عِبَادِكَ الصَّالِحِين‬
therefore, (please) do not
expose me on the ِ‫فَال تَفْضَحْنِي َيوْمَ الْقِيَا َمة‬
Resurrection Day before all
the witnesses.
.ِ‫ألشْهَاد‬
َ ‫َعلَى رُؤُوسِ ا‬
O my God: It is Your
magnanimity that expanded ،‫سطَ َأ َملِي‬
َ َ‫إلهِي جُودُكَ ب‬
my hope;
and surely Your pardon is
more preferable than my .‫وَعَ ْفوُكَ أَفْضَلُ ِمنْ عَ َملِي‬
deeds.
O my God: so (please) delight
me when I meet You on the
َ‫إلهِي فَسُرَّنِي ِبلِقَائِكَ َيوْم‬
day when You shall judge
between Your servants.
.َ‫تَقْضِي فِيهِ بَ ْينَ عِبَادِك‬
O my God: I submit to You
the apology of him who َ‫إلهِي اعْتِذَارِي إلَيْك‬
cannot dispense with the
acceptance of his excuse;

ْ‫اعْتِذَارُ َمنْ لَمْ يَسْ َت ْغنِ َعن‬
ِ‫ذرِه‬
ْ ُ‫قَبُولِ ع‬
so, (please) accept my excuse,
O the most Magnanimous of
ِ‫ذرِي يَا أَكْرَمَ َمن‬
ْ ُ‫فَاقْبَلْ ع‬
all those before whom the
guilty make an apology.
.َ‫ذرَ إلَ ْيهِ الْمُسِيئُون‬
َ َ‫اعْت‬
O my God: (please) do not
reject my request;
،‫إلهِي ال تَرُدَّ حَاجَتِي‬
and do not fail my big hope
for You;
،‫وَال تُخَيِّبْ طَ َمعِي‬
and do not disappoint my ‫طعْ مِنْكَ رَجَائِي‬
َ ْ‫وَال تَق‬
desire and expectation for
You. .‫وََأ َملِي‬
O my God: Had You wanted ْ‫إلهِي َلوْ َأرَدْتَ َهوَانِي لَم‬
to humiliate me, You would
not have guided me (to You); ،‫دنِي‬
ِ ْ‫تَه‬
and had You decided to ْ‫وََلوْ َأرَدْتَ فَضِيحَتِي لَم‬
disclose me, You would not
have saved me. .‫ُتعَافِنِي‬
O my God: I do not expect ‫إلهِي مَا أَظُنُّكَ تَرُدُّنِي فِي‬
You to reject my request that
I spent my whole lifetime
‫جةٍ قَدْ أَفْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي‬
َ ‫حَا‬
asking for it from You.
.َ‫فِي َطلَبِهَا مِنْك‬
O my God: all praise be to ً‫إلهِي َفلَكَ الْحَمْدُ َأبَداً َأبَدا‬
You, forever, forever,
perpetually, everlastingly, ً‫دَائِماً سَ ْرمَدا‬
increasingly, and ُّ‫يَزِيدُ وَال يَبِيدُ كَمَا تُحِب‬
unperishingly, as exactly as
You like and please. .‫وَتَرْضَى‬
O my God: If You punish me ‫إلهِي إنْ أَخَذْتَنِي بِجُ ْرمِي‬
for my offense, I shall
demand with Your pardon; ،َ‫أَخَذْتُكَ ِبعَ ْفوِك‬
and if You punish me for my ‫ذنُوبِي‬
ُ ِ‫وَإنْ أَخَذْتَنِي ب‬
sins, I shall demand with

Your forgiveness;
،َ‫أَخَذْتُكَ بِمَغْفِرَتِك‬
and if You decide to put me in ُ‫خلْتَنِي النَّارَ أَ ْعلَمْت‬
َ ْ‫وَإنْ أَد‬
Hell, I shall declare to its
inhabitants that I love You. .َ‫أَ ْهلَهَا أَنِّي أُحِبُّك‬
O my God: If my deed is too ‫صغُرَ فِي‬
َ َ‫إلهِي إنْ كَان‬
little when compared to the
true obedience to You, ‫جَنْبِ طَاعَتِكَ عَمَلِي‬
then my hope for You is too َ‫فَقَدْ كَبُرَ فِي جَنْبِ رَجَائِك‬
big when compared to my
prospect from You. .‫َأ َملِي‬
O my God: How can it be that
I return from You with ْ‫إلهِي كَيْفَ َأنْ َقلِبُ ِمن‬
disappointment and
deprivation
ً‫عِنْدِكَ بِالْخَيْ َبةِ مَحْرُوما‬
while I expect, depending ‫سنُ ظَنِّي‬

ْ ُ‫وَقَدْ كَانَ ح‬
upon Your magnanimity, that
You will endow me with
‫بِجُودِكَ أَنْ تَ ْقلِبَنِي‬
safety and mercy?
‫بِالنَّجَاةِ مَرْحُوماً؟‬
O my God: I have spent my ‫إلهِي وَقَدْ أَفْنَيْتُ عُمْرِي‬
whole life with the vigor of
being negligent to You ،َ‫فِي شِرَّةِ السَّ ْهوِ عَنْك‬
and I have spent my whole ِ‫وََأْبلَيْتُ شَبَابِي فِي سَكْرَة‬
youth with the inebriety of
being far away from You. .َ‫التَّبَاعُدِ مِنْك‬
O my God: I have not thus
woken up to myself during َ‫إلهِي َفلَمْ َأسْتَيْ ِقظْ أَيَّام‬
the period when I seductively
felt safe from Your ،َ‫اغْتِرَارِي بِك‬
punishment
and when I was taking the ِ‫َورُكُونِي إلَى سَبِيل‬

path that ends with Your ire.
.َ‫سَخَطِك‬
O my God: Nevertheless, I
am—Your servant and the son
ُ‫إلهِي وََأنَا عَبْدُكَ وَاْبن‬
of Your servant—now
standing before You
،َ‫عَبْدِكَ قَائِمٌ بَ ْينَ يَدَيْك‬
and begging You in the name
of Your generosity.
.َ‫مُ َتوَسِّلٌ بِكَ َرمِكَ إلَيْك‬
O my God: I am, being Your
servant, disowning all that
َ‫إلهِي َأنَا عَبْدٌ أَتَنَصَّلُ إلَيْك‬
with which I used to face
You,
ِ‫مِمَّا كُنْتُ أُوَاجِهُكَ بِه‬
namely my shameless ْ‫ِمنْ قِلَّةِ اسْتِحْيَائِي ِمن‬

inconsideration of You,
،َ‫نَظَرِك‬
and I am hereby appealing for
Your pardon since pardon is ‫وَأَ ْطلُبُ اْلعَ ْفوَ مِنْكَ إذ‬
the feature of Your
generosity.
.َ‫ِاْلعَ ْفوُ َنعْتٌ لِكَ َرمِك‬
O my God: I had no strength ٌ‫حوْل‬
َ ‫كنْ لِي‬
ُ َ‫إلهِي لَمْ ي‬
by which I would rid myself
of acts of disobedience to You َ‫فَ َأنْتَقِلَ ِبهِ َعنْ َمعْصِيَتِك‬
except after You aroused me
‫إالَّ فِي وَقْتٍ أَيْقَظْتَنِي‬
to love You.
،َ‫لَِمحَبَّتِك‬
Hence, I have become as
exactly as You want me to be.
ُ‫وَكَمَا َأرَدْتَ أَنْ أَكُونَ كُنْت‬
I have thus thanked You for ‫فَشَكَرْتُكَ بِإدْخَالِي فِي‬
You have included me with
Your generosity ،َ‫كَ َرمِك‬
and You have purified my ِ‫وَلِتَطْهِيرِ َقلْبِي ِمنْ أَ ْوسَاخ‬
heart from the filths of being
inattentive to You. .َ‫اْلغَ ْف َلةِ عَنْك‬
O my God: (please) look at
me in the same way as You ْ‫إلهِي انْظُرْ إلَيَّ نَظَرَ َمن‬
have looked at him whom
You called and he has ،َ‫نَادَيْ َتهُ فَأَجَابَك‬
responded to You,
and upon whom You have َ‫وَاسْ َتعْ َملْ َتهُ بِ َمعُونَتِك‬
conferred with Your aid and
he thus has obeyed You. ،َ‫فَأَطَاعَك‬
O He Who is too close to ِ‫يَا قَرِيباً ال يَبْعُدُ َعن‬

depart from him who is
inadvertent to Him. ،ِ‫الْ ُمغْتَرِّ ِبه‬
O He Who is too ْ‫جوَاداً ال يَبْخَلُ عَمَّن‬
َ ‫وَيَا‬
magnanimous to deprive him
who hopes for His reward. .ُ‫رَجَا َثوَاَبه‬
O my God: (please) grant me ِ‫دنِيه‬
ْ ُ‫إلهِي هَبْ لِي َقلْباً ي‬
heart whose longing for You
will approach it to You; ،ُ‫شوْ ُقه‬
َ َ‫مِنْك‬
and grant me tongue whose
truthfulness is directed to ،ُ‫وَلِسَاناً يُرْ َفعُ إلَيْكَ صِدْ ُقه‬
You;
and sight whose righteousness
advances towards You.
.ُ‫َونَظَراً يُقَرُِّبهُ مِنْكَ حَقُّه‬
O my God: Verily, he who َ‫إلهِي إنَّ َمنْ َتعَرَّفَ بِك‬
recognizes You shall never be
anonymous; ،ٍ‫غَيْرُ مَجْهُول‬
and he who seeks Your
shelter shall never be ،ٍ‫َو َمنْ الذَ بِكَ غَيْرُ مَخْذُول‬
disappointed;
and he whom is attended by

ُ‫َو َمنْ أَقْ َبلْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ غَيْر‬
You shall never be boring.
.ٍ‫مَ ْملُول‬
O my God: Verily, he who َ‫إلهِي إنَّ َمنِ انْتَهَجَ بِك‬
abides by Your Path shall be
enlightened; ،ٌ‫لَمُسْتَنِير‬
and he who resorts to You َ‫وَإنَّ َمنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِك‬
shall be succored.
،ٌ‫لَمُسْتَجِير‬
I am thus having recourse to
You, O my God; so, (please) ‫وَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِكَ يَا إلهِي فَال‬
do not disappoint me as
regard Your having mercy ،َ‫تُخَيِّبْ ظَنِّي ِمنْ رَحْمَتِك‬
upon me;
and do not divest me of Your
kindness.
.َ‫وَال تَحْجُبْنِي َعنْ رَأْفَتِك‬
O my God: grant me, among ِ‫إلهِي أَقِمْنِي فِي أَهْل‬

those who show servitude to
You, َ‫وِاليَتِك‬
the position of him who ْ‫مُقَامَ َمنْ رَجَا الزِّيَادَةَ ِمن‬
(incessantly) longs for more
love for You. .َ‫مَحَبَّتِك‬
O my God: (please) inspire ً‫إلهِي وَأَلْهِمْنِي وَلَها‬
me with passionate love for
ceaseless reference to You; ،َ‫بِذِكْرِكَ إلَى ذِكْرِك‬
and (please) devote all my
pursuit to my attaining the
delight of the success that is
ِ‫وَهِمَّتِي فِي رَ ْوحِ نَجَاح‬
achieved through Your Names
and the standing of Your
.َ‫َأسْمَائِكَ َومَحَلِّ قُدْسِك‬
Holiness.
O my God: I adjure You by َّ‫إلهِي بِكَ َعلَيْكَ إال‬

You that You put me in the
position of those who are
ِ‫أَلْحَقْتَنِي بِمَحَلِّ أَهْل‬
obedient to You
،َ‫طَاعَتِك‬
and in an honorable standing ْ‫وَالْمَ ْثوَى الصَّالِحِ ِمن‬
of Your pleasure,
،َ‫مَرْضَاتِك‬
for I, verily, have no power to
rescue
،ً‫درُ لِنَفْسِي دَفْعا‬
ِ ْ‫فَإنِّي ال أَق‬
or to benefit myself. .ً‫وَال َأ ْملِكُ لَهَا نَفْعا‬
O my God: I am Your ُ‫إلهِي َأنَا عَبْدُكَ الضَّعِيف‬
servant—the feeble and the
guilty— ،ُ‫ذنِب‬
ْ ُ‫الْم‬
and Your slave—the penitent. ‫َومَ ْملُوكُكَ الْمُنِيبُ فَال‬
So, (please) do not include me
with those from whom You
ُ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّنْ صَرَفْتَ عَ ْنه‬
ْ َ‫ت‬
have turned Your face
،َ‫وَجْهَك‬
or with those whom are
deprived of Your pardon
.َ‫وَحَجَ َبهُ سَ ْهوُهُ َعنْ عَ ْفوِك‬
because of their
inattentiveness to You.
O my God: (please) grant me َ‫إلهِي هَبْ لي كَمَال‬

absolute devotion to You;
،َ‫اإلنْقِطَاعِ إلَيْك‬
and illuminate the sights of ِ‫وََأنِرْ َأبْصَارَ ُقلُوبِنَا بِضِيَاء‬
our hearts with the light of
their observing of You ،َ‫نَظَرِهَا إلَيْك‬
so that the sights of the hearts ِ‫حَتَّى تَخْرِقَ َأبْصَارُ الْ ُقلُوب‬
will penetrate the Screens of
Light ِ‫حُجُبَ النُّور‬
and arrive at the Core of
Magnificence
،ِ‫فَتَصِلَ إلَى َمعْدِنِ الْعَظَ َمة‬
and that our souls hang to the ِّ‫وَتَصِيرَ َأرْوَاحُنَا ُمعَلَّ َقةً ِبعِز‬
Majesty of Your Holiness.
.َ‫دسِك‬
ْ ُ‫ق‬
O my God: (please) make me ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬
ْ ‫إلهِي وَا‬
of those who responded to
You when You call at them ،َ‫نَادَيْ َتهُ فَأَجَابَك‬
and those who were shocked
for Your Majesty when You ،َ‫صعِقَ لِجَاللِك‬
َ َ‫وَالحَظْ َتهُ ف‬
observe them;
and You have thus taken into َ‫فَنَاجَيْ َتهُ سِرّاً وَعَمِلَ لَك‬
their confidence and they
acted for You openly. .ً‫جَهْرا‬
O my God: I have shaded ِ‫سن‬
ْ ُ‫إلهِي لَمْ ُأسَلِّطْ عَلَى ح‬
neither despair nor gloom
over my good idea about You; ،ِ‫ظَنِّي قُنُوطَ األَيَاس‬
and I have never lost hope in ْ‫طعَ رَجَائِي ِمن‬
َ َ‫وَال انْق‬
Your excellent magnanimity.
.َ‫جَمِيلِ كَ َرمِك‬
O my God: if my sins have ْ‫إلهِي إنْ كَانَتِ الْخَطَايَا قَد‬
overthrown me in Your sight,
َ‫َأسْقَطَتْنِي لَدَيْك‬
then please pardon me for my

ِ‫سن‬
ْ ُ‫فَاصْفَحْ عَنِّي بِح‬
excellent trust in You.
.َ‫َتوَكُّلِي َعلَيْك‬
O my God: if my
wrongdoings have caused me
ُ‫إلهِي إنْ حَطَّتْنِي الذُّنُوب‬
to lose Your honorable
kindness,
َ‫ِمنْ مَكَارِمِ لُطْفِك‬
then my belief in You have ‫فَقَدْ نَبَّهَنِي الْيَقِينُ إلَى‬
called my attention to the
generosity of Your sympathy. .َ‫كَرَمِ عَطْفِك‬
O my God: if my inadvertence
has screened me against
ُ‫إلهِي إنْ َأنَامَتْنِي اْلغَ ْف َلة‬
readying myself for meeting
You,
َ‫َعنِ اإلسْ ِتعْدَادِ ِللِقَائِك‬
then my recognition of the ِ‫فَقَدْ نَبَّهَتْنِي الْ َمعْرِ َفةُ بِكَرَم‬
generosity of Your bounties
has awakened me. .َ‫آالئِك‬
O my God: if Your grave ِ‫إلهِي إنْ دَعَانِي إلَى النَّار‬
chastisement has drawn me to
Hellfire, َ‫عَظِيمُ عِقَابِك‬
then Your opulent reward has ِ‫فَقَدْ دَعَانِي إلَى الْجَنَّة‬
drawn me to Paradise.
.َ‫جَزِيلُ َثوَابِك‬
O my God: You alone do I َ‫إلهِي َفلَكَ أَسْأَلُ وَإلَيْك‬
pray and You alone do I
implore and desire. ،ُ‫َأبْتَهِلُ وَأَرْغَب‬
And I beseech You to bless ‫وَأَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ َعلَى‬
Mu¦ammad and the
Household of Mu¦ammad ٍ‫مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
and to include me with those
ُ‫ج َعلَنِي مِمَّنْ يُدِيم‬
ْ َ‫وَأَنْ ت‬
who always mention You,
،َ‫ذِكْرَك‬
who never breach their
covenant to You,
،َ‫وَال يَنْقُضُ عَهْدَك‬
who never fail to thank You, ،َ‫وَال َيغْفُلُ َعنْ شُكْرِك‬

and who never belittle Your
Affairs.
.َ‫وَال يَسْتَخِفُّ بِ َأمْرِك‬
O my God: (please do) take in َ‫إلهِي وَأَلْحِقْنِي بِنُورِ عِزِّك‬
me with the most brilliant
Light of Your Dignity ِ‫ألبْهَج‬
َ‫ا‬
so that I will recognize You ،ً‫فَأَكُونَ لَكَ عَارِفا‬
and I will leave everybody
else
،ً‫سوَاكَ مُنْحَرِفا‬
ِ ْ‫وَ َعن‬
and that I will be fearful of
and careful with You;
،ً‫َومِنْكَ خَائِفاً مُرَاقِبا‬
O the Lord of Majesty and
Honor.
،ِ‫يَا ذَا الْجَاللِ وَاإلكْرَام‬
May Allah send blessings
upon Mu¦ammad, His
ٍ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّد‬
Messenger, and upon his
Household, the Infallible,
َ‫َرسُوِلهِ وَآِلهِ الطَّاهِرِين‬
andexalt them very much. .ً‫سلِيماً كَثِيرا‬
ْ َ‫َوسَلَّمَ ت‬
1st Night of Sha`ban

Recite a 12 Rakàh prayer in each Rakàh of which the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah is
recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated 11 times.
1 st Day of Sha`ban
Fasting on the 1st day of Sha’ban has great rewards. Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) is
reported as saying, “Paradise will be incumbently decided for him who observe
fasting on the first day of Sha`ban.”
Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s has narrated on the authority of the Holy Prophet (a.s) that an
abundant reward will be conferred to him who observes fasting on the first three
days in Sha`ban and on their eve recites a two Rakàh prayer In each Rakàh of this
prayer, one should recite the S£rah of al-Fati¦ah once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d
11 times.
3 r d of Sha`ban
Imam Husain (a.s) was born on the 3rd of Sha`ban.

Abu’l-Qasim ibn Àla’ al-Hamadaniy, the representative of Imam al-°asan al-
Àskariy (a.s), received a document saying that our master, Imam al-°usayn ibn
Àl¢ (a.s), was born on the third of Sha`ban; therefore, you should observe fasting
on this day and recite the following supplication:
O Allah: I beseech You in the ِّ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي َأسْأَلُكَ بِحَق‬
name of the one born on this
day ِ‫الْ َموْلُودِ فِي هذَا الْ َيوْم‬
the promised with martyrdom َ‫الْ َموْعُودِ بِشَهَادَِتهِ قَبْل‬
before the beginning of his life
and before his birth, ،ِ‫اسْتِهْالِلهِ وَوِالدَِته‬
the heavens and all their
inhabitants wept for him;
،‫بَكَ ْتهُ السَّمَاءُ َو َمنْ فِيهَا‬
and so did the earth and those
living one it;
،‫ألرْضُ َو َمنْ َعلَيْهَا‬
َ ‫وَا‬
before his feet stepped on it; ،‫وَلَمَّا يَطَأْ البَتَيْهَا‬
the mourned slain one; ،ِ‫قَتِيلِ اْلعَبْرَة‬
and the master of the Family (of
Prophethood);
،ِ‫ألسْرَة‬
ُ ‫َوسَيِّدِ ا‬
and the one who shall be backed َ‫الْمَمْدُودِ بِالنُّصْرَةِ َيوْم‬
with victory on the Day of
Return; ،ِ‫الْكَرَّة‬
the one whom has been awarded
with the favor of the Imams’ َّ‫الْ ُمعَوِّضِ ِمنْ قَ ْت ِلهِ أَن‬
being from his offspring as
recompensation of his being ،ِ‫س ِله‬
ْ َ‫ألئِمَّةَ ِمنْ ن‬
َ‫ا‬
slain;
and the one awarded with the
favor of the soil of his grave ،ِ‫وَالشِّفَاءَ فِي تُ ْربَ ِته‬
carrying cure;
and the one awarded with the
favor that he will be triumphing ،ِ‫وَالْ َف ْوزَ َم َعهُ فِي أَ ْوبَ ِته‬
when he will be returned;
and also the Prophet’s
Successors from his offspring
َ‫وَاألَوْصِيَاءَ ِمنْ عِتْرَِتهِ َبعْد‬
will be returned after the advent

of their Rising Imam and after
،ِ‫قَائِمِهِمْ وَغَيْبَ ِته‬
his occultation,
so that they shall take revenge, ،َ‫درِ ُكوَا األَوْتَار‬
ْ ُ‫حَتَّى ي‬
and they shall retaliate, ،َ‫وَيَثْ َأرُوَا الثَّار‬
and they shall please the
Onmipotent Lord,
،َ‫ضوَا الْجَبَّار‬
ُ ْ‫وَيُر‬
and they shall be the best
supporters.
،ٍ‫وَيَكُوُنوَا خَيْرَ َأنْصَار‬
May Allah’s blessings be
perpetually upon them
َ‫صَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَيْهِمْ َمع‬
whenever night and day succeed
each other.
.ِ‫اخْتِالفِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَار‬
O Allah: I thus beg You in the

َ‫اللّهُمَّ فَبِحَقِّهِمْ إلَيْك‬
name of them;
ُ‫أََتوَسَّل‬
and I implore You with the ٍ‫سؤَالَ مُقْتَرِف‬
ُ ُ‫وََأسْأَل‬
imploration of a sinful one who
confesses of his guilt, ٍ‫ُمعْتَرِف‬
and who has done evil to
himself,
ِ‫مُسِيءٍ إلَى نَفْسِه‬
due to his violations—the past
and the present.
،ِ‫مِمَّا فَرَّطَ فِي َي ْو ِمهِ وََأمْسِه‬
He thus beseeches You for ِّ‫يَسْأَلُكَ اْلعِصْ َمةَ إلَى مَحَل‬
protection from You up to the
place of his grave. .ِ‫سه‬
ِ ْ‫َرم‬
O Allah: (please) send blessings ٍ‫اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّد‬
upon Mu¦ammad and his
Offspring, ،ِ‫وَعِتْرَِته‬
and include us with his group
(on the Resurrection Day)
،ِ‫وَاحْشُ ْرنَا فِي ُزمْرَِته‬
and allow us to dwell in the
House of Honor with him,
،ِ‫َوبَوِّئْنَا َم َعهُ دَارَ الْكَرَا َمة‬
and in the abode of residence. .ِ‫َومَحَلِّ اإلقَا َمة‬
O Allah: as You have conferred

upon us with the honor of our ‫اللّهُمَّ وَكَمَا أَكْ َرمْتَنَا‬
recognition of him, (please)
confer upon us with the honor ،ِ‫بِ َمعْرِفَ ِتهِ فَأَكْ ِرمْنَا بِزُلْفَ ِته‬
of being near to him,
and bestow upon us with the
bliss of accompanying him and ،ُ‫وَا ْرزُقْنَا مُرَافَقَ َتهُ َوسَابِقَ َته‬
enjoying a close rank to him,
and include us with those who
submit to him totally,
،ِ‫ج َعلْنَا مِمَّنْ يُسَلِّمُ ألمْرِه‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
and those who pray (You) for َ‫وَيُكْثِرُ الصَّالةَ َعلَ ْيهِ عِنْد‬
sending blessings upon him
whenever they mention him, ،ِ‫ذِكْرِه‬
and also upon all his Successors
ِ‫وَ َعلَى جَمِيعِ أَوْصِيَاِئه‬
and Selected Ones,
،ِ‫وَأَهْلِ أَصْفِيَاِئه‬
whom are defined by You as ِ‫الْمَمْدُودِينَ مِنْكَ بِاْلعَدَد‬
twelve persons,
،َ‫اإلثْنَي عَشَر‬
being the luminous stars, ،ِ‫النُّجُومِ الزُّهَر‬
and the Arguments against all ِ‫وَالْحُجَجِ َعلَى جَمِيع‬
humankind.
.ِ‫الْبَشَر‬
O Allah: and (please) grant us
‫اللّهُمَّ وَهَبْ لَنَا فِي هذَا‬
on this day the best of grants,
،ٍ‫الْ َيوْمِ خَيْرَ َموْهِ َبة‬
and make all our prayers on this
day responded,
،ٍ‫وََأنْجِحْ لَنَا فِيهِ كُلِّ َطلِ َبة‬
in the same way as You gifted َ‫كَمَا وَهَبْتَ الْحُسَ ْين‬
al-°usayn to Mu¦ammad: his
grandfather, ،ِ‫لُِمحَمَّدٍ جَدِّه‬
and in the same way as the
angels Futrus sought refuge ،ِ‫وَعَاذَ فُطْرُسُ بِمَهْدِه‬
with his (i.e. al-°usayn) cradle
we are thus seeking refuge with
his tomb after him (i.e. his
ْ‫حنُ عَائِذُونَ بِقَبْرِهِ ِمن‬
ْ َ‫فَن‬
martyrdom)
ِ‫َبعْدِه‬
as we are witnessing the soil of ُ‫نَشْهَدُ تُ ْربَ َتهُ َونَنْتَظِر‬
him and expecting his return.
،ُ‫أَ ْوبَ َته‬
Respond to us; O the Lord of
the worlds.
.َ‫آمِينَ رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬
After that, you may recite the Duà' al-°usayn, which is the last supplication
uttered by Imam °usain (a.s) when his enemies surrounded him in large numbers
on the Day of `ªsh£ra’ (the tenth of Mu¦arram, AH 61):
O Allah: You are verily the ‫اللّهُمَّ َأنْتَ مُ َتعَالي‬

Elevated in position,
،ِ‫الْمَكَان‬
the Magnificent in
omnipotence,
،ِ‫عَظِيمُ الْجَبَرُوت‬
the Mighty in prowess, ،ِ‫شَدِيدُ الْمِحَال‬
the Self-Sufficient from the
creatures,
،ِ‫غَنِيٌّ َعنِ الْخَالئِق‬
the Ample in pride, ،ِ‫عَرِيضُ الْكِبْرِيَاء‬
the Powerful over all that
which You want,
،ُ‫قَا ِدرٌ َعلَى مَا تَشَاء‬
the Close in mercy, ،ِ‫قَرِيبُ الرَّحْ َمة‬
the Truthful in promise, ،ِ‫صَادِقُ اْلوَعْد‬
the Opulent in favors, ،ِ‫سَاِبغُ النِّعْ َمة‬
the Sympathetic in ordeals, ،ِ‫سنُ الْبَالء‬
َ َ‫ح‬
the Nigh when Your are
prayed,
،َ‫قَرِيبٌ إذَا دُعِيت‬
the All-encompassing of all
that which You have created,
،َ‫خلَقْت‬
َ ‫مُحِيطٌ بِمَا‬
the Accepter of the َ‫قَابِلُ التَّ ْوَبةِ لِ َمنْ تَاب‬
repentance of him who
repents to You, ،َ‫إلَيْك‬
the Powerful to do whatever ،َ‫قَا ِدرٌ َعلَى مَا َأرَدْت‬
You want,
the Taker in all that which
You decide,
،َ‫درِكٌ مَا َطلَبْت‬
ْ ُ‫َوم‬
the Thankful for those who
thank You,
،َ‫َوشَكُورٌ إذَا شُكِرْت‬
the Rememberer of those who
mention You.
،َ‫وَذَكُورٌ إذَا ذُكِرْت‬
I pray You for I need You; ،ً‫أَدْعُوكَ مُحْتَاجا‬
and I desire for You for I am
in want of You;
،ً‫وََأرْغَبُ إلَيْكَ فَقِيرا‬
and I resort to You for I am
terrified;
،ً‫وَأَفْزَعُ إلَيْكَ خَائِفا‬
and I weep before You for I
am distressed;
،ً‫وََأبْكِي إلَيْكَ مَكْرُوبا‬
and I seek Your aid for I am
weak;
،ً‫ضعِيفا‬
َ َ‫وََأسْ َتعِينُ بِك‬
and I depend upon You for I
trust in none save You;
،ً‫وَأََتوَكَّلُ َعلَيْكَ كَافِيا‬
(please do) decide between ‫احْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا َوبَ ْينَ َق ْومِنَا‬
our people and us with the
truth, ،ِّ‫بِالْحَق‬
for they have deceived us,
cheated us,
‫فَإنَّهُمْ غَرُّونَا وَخَدَعُونَا‬
disappointed us, betrayed us,

‫وَخَذَلُونَا وَغَدَرُوَا بِنَا‬
and killed us.
،‫وَقَ َتلُونَا‬
We are verily the progeny of
Your Prophet,
َ‫حنُ عِتْرَةُ نَبِيِّك‬
ْ َ‫َون‬
and the sons of Your beloved
one,
َ‫وَوَلَدُ حَبِيبِك‬
namely Mu¦ammad ibn
Àbdullah,
ِ‫مُحَمَّدِ ْبنِ عَبْدِال ّله‬
whom You have chosen for
the Divine Mission
ِ‫الَّذِي اصْطَفَيْ َتهُ بِالرِّسَاَلة‬
and for keeping Your
Revelation.
،َ‫وَائْتَمَنْ َتهُ َعلَى وَحْيِك‬
So, (please so) prepare a way
out and a relief for us,
ً‫جعَلْ لَنَا ِمنْ َأمْ ِرنَا فَرَجا‬
ْ ‫فَا‬
ً‫َومَخْرَجا‬
out of Your mercy; O the َ‫بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا َأرْحَم‬
most Merciful of all those
who show mercy. .َ‫الرَّاحِمِين‬
Ayyame Bayz (13 th , 14th and 15 th nights of Sha’ban)
13 t h , 14 th and 15 th of Rajab, Sha’aan and Ramdhan are known as

“Ayyaam-e-Bayz” (the days of surpassing splendor). Imam Jafar bin
Muhammad Sadiq (as) has said: "Whoso prays during the nights of
“Ayyam Bayz”, in fact, stands at the door of superabundant favours,
bounties and benefits available in these months"
It is highly desirable to observe fast on 13, 14 and 15, have a bath each day,
and give alms in the way of Allah.
In the night of “Ayyam Bayz” pray a 12 Rak-a’t Salat /Namaz as under
(i) In the night of the 13th pray 2 Rak-a’t:
In each Rak-a’t recite Surah Al Fatih’ah, Surah Al Yaa Seen,

Surah Al Mulk and Sura Ikhlass.
(ii) In the night of the 14th pray 4 Rak-a’t: in 2 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t,

each exactly as (i)
(iii) In the night of the 15th pray 6 Rak-a’t: in 3 sets of 2 of 2 Rak-a’t,

each exactly as (i)
15 th Night of Sha`ban
Merits of the night of 15 th Sha’ban:
Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s) has narrated that when Imam Muhammad al-Baqir (a.s)
was asked about the merits of the fifteenth night of Sha`ban, he answered, “It is the
most favorable night after the Qadr Night. At this night, Allah (swt) bestows upon
His servants with His favors and grants them His pardon.
Therefore, you should exert all efforts for seeking nearness to Allah (swt) at this
night, because He—Majestic and Honorable is He—has decided not to reject and
beggar so long as an act of disobedience is asked.
Allah (swt) has chosen this night for us, the Ahl al-Bayt, in the same way as He has
chosen the Qadr Night for our Prophet—peace be upon him and his Family. You
should thus pray Allah (swt) and thank Him diligently.”
The Holy Prophet (saws) has said that during the night of 15th Sha’ban, Allah (swt)
takes decisions in the matters of sustenance, life and death and welfare of the
people.
Also, at the dawn of this night, the 12th Imam, Imam Mohammed Mahdi (atfs) was
born in Samarrah in the year 255 AH.
It is highly recommended to spend this whole night with acts of worship, prayers,
supplications, invocations and prayers for forgiveness. A °ad¢th has confirmed that
as for one who spends this whole night with acts of worship, his heart will not die
when other hearts die.
The first thing that that Salik (the Wayfarer on the path towards Allah, Glorified
and Exalted is He) must perform on this night is that he must remove the material
pleasures and enjoyments of this world from in front of his eyes (and from his
heart) and in order to make the most of this special night and ensure that all of his
actions are performed properly.
He must think to himself that tonight is his last night on this Earth (meaning that
tomorrow he shall die) and thus, he will no longer have the opportunity to perform
any more good deeds and that tomorrow the Day of Judgment will take place.
Recommneded Acts for the Night of 15 th Sha’ban:
Take Ghusl (Bath) with the thought of washing away sins & as if it ’s your
last Ghusl
It is recommended to mention Allah (swt) by the following invocation

one hundred times so that one’s past acts of disobedience to Allah (swt)
will be forgiven and one’s worldly and religious needs will be settled:
All glory be to Allah; ،ِ‫سُبْحَانَ ال ّله‬
all praise be to Allah; ،ِ‫وَالْحَمْدُ ِل ّله‬
there is no god save
Allah;
،ُ‫وَال إلهَ إالَّ ال ّله‬
Allah is the Greatest; ،ُ‫وَال ّلهُ أَكْبَر‬
Recite 100 times 'Astaghfirullah ' with attention to seeking forgiveness.

Ziyarah of Imam Husain for the night of 15 th Sha`ban
In his book of ‘ al-Balad al-Amin ’, Shaykh al-Kafàmiy has reported Imam al-
¯adiq (a.s) as saying that one may stop at the holy tomb of Imam al -°usayn
(a.s) and say the following:
All praise be to Allah; the Most

High, the All-great.
ِ‫ألْحَمْدُ هللِ اْل َعلِيِّ اْلعَظيم‬
Peace be upon you; O the righteous,
pure servant (of Allah).
ُ‫والسَّالمُ َعلَيْكَ أيُّها اْلعَبْد‬
ُّ‫الصَّالِحُ الزَّكي‬
I entrust with you a testimony of
mine that takes me near you on the
َ‫اُودِعُكَ شَهادَةً مِنِّي لَك‬
day of your intercession (for some ِ‫َربُني إلَيْكَ فِي َيوْم‬
ِّ ‫تُق‬
people).
،َ‫شَفاعَتِك‬
I bear witness that although you
were slain, you have not died;
ْ‫أشْهَدُ أنَّكَ قُ ِتلْتَ وَلَمْ تَمُت‬
Rather the hearts of your adherents
(Sh¢àh) are living on the hope of
ْ‫بَلْ بِرَجاءِ حَياتِكَ حَيِيَت‬
your being alive; ،َ‫ُقلُوبُ شيعَتِك‬
And by the light of your
illumination have those seeking you
‫َوبِضِياءِ نُورِكَ اهْتَدَى‬
been guided (to the right path). ،َ‫الطَّالِبُونَ إلَيْك‬
And I bear witness that you are
verily the Light of Allah that has not
ْ‫وَأشْهَدُ أنَّكَ نُورُ اهللِ الَّذي لَم‬
and shall never be extinguished. ،ً‫يُطْفَأْ وَال يُطْفَأُ أبَدا‬
And you are verily the Face of Allah
that has not and shall never be
ْ‫جهُ اهللِ الَّذي لَم‬
ْ َ‫وَأنَّكَ و‬
perishing. ،ً‫يَ ْهلِكْ وَال يُهْلَكُ أبَدا‬
And I bear witness that this soil is
yours,
َ‫وَأشْهَدُ أنَّ هذِهِ التُّ ْرَبة‬
،َ‫تُ ْربَتُك‬
And this holy precinct is yours.
،َ‫وَهذا الْحَرَمَ حَ َرمُك‬
And this death is the death of your

body only,
َ‫دنِك‬
َ َ‫وَهذا الْمَصْرَعَ مَصْرَعُ ب‬
While you have never been
humiliated since Allah is the One
َ‫ال ذَليلَ واهللِ ُمعِزُّك‬
Who is pouring honor upon you
And you have never been defeated
since Allah is the One Who is
،َ‫وَال َم ْغلُوبَ واهللِ ناصِرُك‬
supporting you.
I would like you to keep this
testimony of mine with you up to the
‫هذِهِ شَهادَةٌ لي عِنْدَكَ إلى‬
day when my soul will be grasped in ،َ‫َيوْمَ قَبْضِ روُحي بِحَضْرَتِك‬
the presence of you.
Peace and Allah’s mercy and
blessings be upon you.
ِ‫والسَّالمُ َعلَيْكُمْ َورَحْ َمةُ اهلل‬
.ُ‫َوبَرَكاُته‬
Supplication as a form of Ziyarah for the 12th Imam
It is recommended to recite the following supplication, which stand for a form of

Ziyarah for the Concealed Imam al-Mahdi (a.s). this supplication has been
mentioned by both Sayyid Ibn ±aw£s and Shaykh al-±£siy:
O Allah: I beseech You in the

name of this night and in the
ِ‫اللّهُمَّ بِحَقِّ لَ ْيلَتِنَا هذِه‬
name of him whom was born
at it
‫َو َموْلُودِهَا‬
and in the name of Your
Argument and in the name of ،‫وَحُجَّتِكَ َو َموْعُودِهَا‬
Your promise in it,
the night that You have added

‫الَّتِي قَ َرنْتَ إلَى فَضْلِهَا‬
a new merit to its many merits
،ً‫فَضْال‬
So, Your Word has been
ً‫فَتَمَّتْ َكلِمَتُكَ صِدْقا‬
accomplished truly and fairly;
،ً‫وَعَدْال‬
no one can change Your
words,
،َ‫كلِمَاتِك‬
َ ِ‫ال مُبَدِّلَ ل‬
nor obscure Your signs, ،َ‫وَال ُمعَقِّبَ آليَاتِك‬
(He is) Your glowing Light ،ُ‫نُورُكَ الْمُتَأَلِّق‬
and Your bring splendor ،ُ‫وَضِيَاؤُكَ الْمُشْرِق‬
and the luminous sign in the
ِ‫وَاْل َعلَمُ النُّورُ فِي طَخْيَاء‬
obscurity of darkness
،ِ‫الدَّيْجُور‬
and the absent and the
concealed,
ُ‫اْلغَائِبُ الْمَسْتُور‬
Lofty is his birth and noble is

َ‫ وَكَرُم‬،ُ‫جَلَّ َموْلِدُه‬
his lineage
،ُ‫مَحْتِدُه‬
and the angels are his
witnesses
،ُ‫كةُ شُهَّدُه‬
َ ِ‫وَالْمَالئ‬
and Allah is his Supporter and

Backer
،ُ‫وَال ّلهُ نَاصِرُهُ َو ُمؤَيِّدُه‬
when his time comes and the ُ‫كة‬

َ ِ‫إذَا آنَ مِيعَادُهُ وَالْمَالئ‬
angels shall be his sponsors;
،ُ‫َأمْدَادُه‬
(He shall act as) the sword of
Allah that shall never miss the ،‫سَيْفُ ال ّلهِ الَّذِي ال يَنْبُو‬
target,
and His light that shall never
be extinguished
،‫َونُورُهُ الَّذِي ال يَخْبُو‬
And the forbearing person who ‫حلْمِ الَّذِي ال‬

ِ ْ‫وَذُو ال‬
shall never deviate the truth.
،‫يَصْبُو‬
and the motive and reason of
the course of events,
،ِ‫مَدَارُ الدَّهْر‬
and the one for whom the laws
of ages have been made
،ِ‫َوَنوَامِيسُ اْلعَصْر‬
and (one of) the men of
authority
،ِ‫ألمْر‬
َ ‫وَوُالةُ ا‬
who receive that which is

‫وَالْمُنَزَّلُ َعلَيْهِمْ مَا‬
revealed on the Grand Night.
،ِ‫در‬
ْ َ‫يَتَنَزَّلُ فِي لَ ْي َلةِ الْق‬
and the managers of the
ِ‫وَأَصْحَابُ الْحَشْر‬
Resurrection and the Account;
،ِ‫وَالنَّشْر‬
(They are) the interpreters of
His revelations
،ِ‫تَرَاجِ َمةُ وَحْ ِيه‬
and in charge of what is
deemed lawful and what is .ِ‫وَوُالةُ َأمْرِهِ وَنَهْ ِيه‬
deemed unlawful by Him.
O Allah: send blessings on

‫اللّهُمَّ فَصَلِّ َعلَى‬
their seal and their Riser
ُ‫خَاتِمِهِمْ وَقَائِمِهِم‬
whom is hidden from their
world.
.ْ‫الْمَسْتُورِ َعنْ َعوَالِمِهِم‬
O Allah: (please) make us
causes for the coming of him,
ُ‫اللّهُمَّ وَأَ ْدرِكْ بِنَا أَيَّا َمه‬
and causes for his advent and

reappearance
،ُ‫وَظُهُورَهُ وَقِيَا َمه‬
and (please) include us with
his supporters
،ِ‫ج َعلْنَا ِمنْ َأنْصَارِه‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
and join our vengeance to his ،ِ‫وَاقْرِنْ ث ْأ َرنَا بِثَأْرِه‬
and decide us to be among his
ِ‫وَاكْتُبْنَا فِي أَ ْعوَاِنه‬
assistants and retinue.
،ِ‫خلَصَائِه‬
ُ َ‫و‬
and make us live in bliss in his ِ‫وَأَحْيِنَا فِي دَوْلَ ِته‬
reign,
،َ‫نَاعِمِين‬
and make us win the ecstasy of
his companionship,
،َ‫َوبِصُحْبَ ِتهِ غَانِمِين‬
and make us of those who
carry out our duty toward him,
،َ‫َوبِحَقِّهِ قَائِمِين‬
and save us from evil. ،َ‫َو ِمنَ السُّوءِ سَالِمِين‬
O the most Merciful of all
those who show mercy.
،َ‫يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
All praise be to Allah, Lord of ِّ‫وَالْحَمْدُ ِل ّلهِ رَب‬

the worlds.
،َ‫اْلعَالَمِين‬
His blessings be upon our
‫دنَا‬
ِ ِّ‫ص َلوَاُتهُ َعلَى سَي‬
َ َ‫و‬
master, Mu¦ammad
ٍ‫مُحَمَّد‬
the seal of the Prophets and
َ‫خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّين‬
the Messengers,
َ‫سلِين‬
َ ‫وَالْمُ ْر‬
and upon his Household, the ِ‫وَ َعلَى أَهْلِ بَيْ ِته‬
veracious,
َ‫الصَّادِقِين‬
and his offspring, the
spokespersons of the truth,
،َ‫وَعِتْرَِتهِ النَّاطِقِين‬
and curse all the wrongdoers ،َ‫وَاْل َعنْ جَمِيعَ الظَّالِمِين‬
and judge between them and

us
ْ‫وَاحْكُمْ بَيْنَنَا َوبَيْنَهُم‬
O the Most Just of all judges. .َ‫يَا أَحْكَمَ الْحَاكِمِين‬
Shaykh Isma`¢l ibn Fa¤l al-Hashimiy has narrated that Imam Ja`far al-¯adiq (a.s)
instructed him to recite the following supplication at the fifteenth night of Sha`ban:
O Allah: You are verily the

Ever-living, the Self-Subsisting,
ُ‫اللّهُمَّ َأنْتَ الْحَيُّ الْقَيُّوم‬
the Most High, the All-great, ُ‫اْل َعلِيُّ الْعَظِيم‬
the Creator, the Sustainer, ُ‫الْخَالِقُ الرَّازِق‬
the Giver of live, the Causer of
death,
ُ‫الْمُحْيِي الْمُمِيت‬
the Originator, the Maker. ،ُ‫الْبَدِيءُ الْبَدِيع‬
To You is the Majesty ،ُ‫لَكَ الْجَالل‬
and to You is the favor, ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْفَضْل‬
and to You is all praise, ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْحَمْد‬
and to You is thanks, ،ُّ‫وَلَكَ الْمَن‬
and to You is magnanimity, ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْجُود‬
and to You is generosity, ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْكَرَم‬
and to You do belong all affairs, ،ُ‫ألمْر‬
َ ‫وَلَكَ ا‬
and to You is glory, ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الْمَجْد‬
and to You is gratitude; ،ُ‫وَلَكَ الشُّكْر‬
You are alone without having
any partner with You.
،َ‫وَحْدَكَ ال شَرِيكَ لَك‬
O the One: O the Absolute: O
the Besought of all:
ُ‫يَا وَاحِدُ يَا أَحَدُ يَا صَمَد‬
O He Who neither begets nor is
He begotten,
ْ‫يَا َمنْ لَمْ َيلِدْ وَلَمْ يُولَد‬
and there is none like to Him. ،ٌ‫كنْ َلهُ كُفُواً أَحَد‬
ُ َ‫وَلَمْ ي‬
(please do) bless Mu¦ammad
and the Household of ٍ‫صَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
Mu¦ammad
and forgive me; and have mercy

upon me;
‫وَاغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي‬
and relieve me from whatever
has aggrieved me;
‫وَاكْفِنِي مَا أَهَمَّنِي‬
and help me settle my debt; ،‫وَاقْضِ دَيْنِي‬
and expand my provisions; ،‫وَوَسِّعْ َعلَيَّ فِي ِرزْقِي‬
for You, at this night, make ٍ‫فَإنَّكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ كُلَّ َأمْر‬
distinct all affairs of wisdom;
،ُ‫حَكِيمٍ تَفْرُق‬
and You grant sustenance to
whomever You wish among ،ُ‫خلْقِكَ تَ ْرزُق‬
َ ْ‫َو َمنْ تَشَاءُ ِمن‬
Your creatures.
So, (please do) grant me
sustenance and You are verily ،َ‫فَا ْرزُقْنِي وََأنْتَ خَيْرُ الرَّازِقِين‬
the Best of sustainers.
You have said—and You are the ُ‫فَإنَّكَ ُقلْتَ وََأنْتَ خَيْر‬
Best of those who speak and
utter— :َ‫الْقَاِئلِينَ النَّاطِقِين‬
“Ask Allah of His bounty.” )ِ‫ض ِله‬
ْ َ‫(وَاسْأَُلوَا ال ّلهَ ِمنْ ف‬
I thus ask You of Your bounty; ،ُ‫فَ ِمنْ فَضْلِكَ َأسْأَل‬
and to You do I turn my face; ،ُ‫وَإيَّاكَ قَصَدْت‬
and the intercession of Your
Prophet’s son do I seek;
،ُ‫وَاْبنَ نَبِيِّكَ اعْتَمَدْت‬
and for You do I hope. ،ُ‫جوْت‬
َ َ‫وَلَكَ ر‬
So, (please do) have mercy upon
me; O the most Merciful of all .َ‫فَارْحَمْنِي يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
those who show mercy.
It is recommended to say this supplication, which the Holy Prophet (a.s) used to
recite at this night:
O Allah: (please do) grant us an

amount of fearfulness of You
َ‫اللّهُمَّ اقْسِمْ لَنَا ِمنْ خَشْيَتِك‬
that prevents us from committing
acts of disobedience to You;
،َ‫مَا يَحُولُ بَيْنَنَا َوبَ ْينَ َمعْصِيَتِك‬
and an amount of obedience to ِ‫َو ِمنْ طَاعَتِكَ مَا تُبَلِّغُنَا ِبه‬
You that makes us attain Your
satisfaction; ،َ‫ضوَانَك‬
ْ ِ‫ر‬
and an amount of conviction that ِ‫َو ِمنَ الْيَقِينِ مَا يَهُونُ َعلَيْنَا ِبه‬
help us tolerate the vicissitudes
of this worldly life. .‫مُصِيبَاتُ الدُّنْيَا‬
O Allah: (please do) make us ‫اللّهُمَّ َأمْ ِتعْنَا بِأَسْمَاعِنَا وََأبْصَا ِرنَا‬
enjoy our hearings, sights, and
powers ‫وَقُوَّتِنَا‬
so long as You decide to keep us
alive; and (please do) make it the ،‫ج َع ْلهُ اْلوَارِثَ مِنَّا‬
ْ ‫مَا أَحْيَيْتَنَا وَا‬
inheritor of us.
And (please do) make us avenge
ourselves against them who ،‫وَاجْعَلْ ث ْأ َرنَا َعلَى َمنْ َظلَمَنَا‬
wrong us;
and back us against them who
antagonize us;
،‫وَانْصُ ْرنَا َعلَى َمنْ عَادَانَا‬
and do not suffer misfortunes in
affairs of our religion;
،‫جعَلْ مُصِيبَتَنَا فِي دِينِنَا‬ ْ َ‫وَال ت‬
and do not make our worldly
affairs happen to be our greatest ‫جعَلِ الدُّنْيَا أَكْبَرَ هَمِّنَا وَال‬ ْ َ‫وَال ت‬
concern or our utmost
knowledge;
،‫مَ ْب َلغَ ِعلْمِنَا‬
and do set him who does not have
mercy upon us as master over us;
،‫وَال تُسَلِّطْ َعلَيْنَا َمنْ ال يَرْحَمُنَا‬
in the name of Your mercy; O the
most Merciful of all those who .َ‫بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
show mercy.
Actually, this supplication is one of the perfect, comprehensive prayers that may be
recited at all times. In the word of the book of ‘Àwal¢ al-La’al¢’, the Holy Prophet
(a.s) used to recite this supplication at all times.
Duà Kumayl
It is recommended to recite the famous Duà' Kumayl (The Supplication of Kumayl

ibn Ziyad):
In the Name of Allah, the

All-merciful, the All- ِ‫اللهِ الرَّحْ َمنِ الرَّحِيم‬
َّ ِ‫بِسْم‬
compassionate
O Allah, I ask You by Your َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي َأسْألُكَ بِرَحْمَتِك‬
mercy, which embraces all
things; ‫سعَتْ كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬
ِ ‫الَّتِي َو‬
And by Your strength, ‫َوبِقُوَّتِكَ الَّتِي قَهَرْتَ بِهَا‬
through which You
dominatest all things, ‫كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬
And toward which all things
are humble
‫ضعَ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬
َ َ‫وَخ‬
And before which all things
are lowly;
‫وَذَلَّ لَهَا كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬
And by Your invincibility ‫َوبِجَبرُوتِكَ الَّتِي َغلَبْتَ بِهَا‬
through which You
overwhelmest all things, ‫كُلَّ شَيٍْء‬
And by Your might, which
‫َوِبعِزَّتِكَ الَّتِي ال يَقُومُ لَهَا‬
nothing can resist;
ٌ‫شَيْء‬
And by Your َّ‫َوِبعَظَمَتِكَ الَّتِي مَألَتْ كُل‬
tremendousness, which has
filled all things; ‫شَيٍْء‬
by Your force, which towers
َّ‫َوبِسُلْطَانِكَ الَّذِي عَالَ كُل‬
over all things;
‫شَيٍْء‬
And by Your face, which ِ‫َوِبوَجْهِكَ الْبَاقِي َبعْدَ فَنَاء‬
subsists after the annihilation
of all things, ‫كُلِّ شَيٍْء‬
And by Your Names, which
have filled the foundations of ْ‫َوبِأَسْمَائِكَ الَّتِي مَألَت‬
all things;
‫َأرْكَانَ كُلِّ شَيٍْء‬

And by Your knowledge, ِّ‫َوِب ِعلْمِكَ الَّذِي أَحَاطَ بِكُل‬
which encompasses all
things; ‫شَيٍْء‬
And by the light of Your ُ‫َوبِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي أَضَاءَ َله‬
face, through which all
things are illumined! ‫كُلُّ شَيٍْء‬
O Light! O All-holy! ُ‫يَا نُورُ يَا قُدُّوس‬
O First of those who are first َ‫يَا أَوَّلَ األَوَّلِين‬
And O Last of those who are
last!
َ‫وَيَا آخِرَ اآلخِرِين‬
O Allah, forgive me those َ‫الذنُوب‬
ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَ اغْفِرْ لِي‬
sins which tear apart
safeguards! َ‫الَّتِي تَهتِكُ اْلعِصَم‬
sins which draw down
adversities! َ‫الَّتِي تُنْزِلُ النِّقَم‬
O Allah, forgive me those
َ‫الذنُوب‬
sins which alter blessings!
َ‫النعَم‬
ِّ ُ‫الَّتِي تُغيِّر‬
O Allah forgive me those َ‫الذنُوب‬
ُّ ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي‬
sins which hold back
supplication! َ‫الَّتِي تَحْبِسُ الدُّعَاء‬
O Allah forgive me those َ‫الذنُوب‬
sins which cut down the
hopes! َ‫طعُ الرَّجَاء‬
َ ْ‫الَّتِي تَق‬
sins which draw down
tribulation! َ‫الَّتِي تُنْزِلُ البَالء‬
O Allah, forgive me every ٍ‫اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي كُلَّ َذنْب‬
sin I have committed and
every mistake I have made! ٍ‫أَ ْذنَبْ ُتهُ وَكُلَّ خَطِيئَة‬
‫أَخْطَأْتُهَا‬
O Allah, verily I seek َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْك‬
nearness to You through
remembrance of You, َ‫بِذِكْرِك‬
And I seek intercession from
You with Yourself,
َ‫وََأسْتَشْ ِفعُ بِكَ إِلَي نَفْسِك‬
And I ask You through Your ‫وََأسْألُكَ بِجُودِكَ أَن‬
munificence to bring me near
to Your proximity, َ‫دنِيَنِي مِن قُ ْربِك‬
ْ ُ‫ت‬
And to provide me with
gratitude toward You
َ‫وَأَن تُوزِعَنِي شُكْرَك‬
And to inspire me with Your
remembrance.
َ‫وَأَن ُتلْهِمَنِي ذِكْرَك‬
O Allah, verily I ask You َ‫سؤَال‬
ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي َأسْألُك‬
with the asking of a
submissive, abased and lowly ‫شعٍ أَن‬
ِ ‫ضعٍ مُّتَذَلِّلٍ خَا‬
ِ ‫خَا‬
man to show me forbearance,
to have mercy on me ‫تُسَامِحَنِي وَتَرْحَمَنِي‬
And to make me satisfied and ً‫وَتَجْعلَنِي بِقَسَمِكَ رَاضِيا‬
content with Your
appointment and [make me]
‫حوَاِل‬
ْ َ‫ وَفِي جَمِيعِ األ‬،ً‫قَانِعا‬
humble in every state.
ً‫مُ َتوَاضِعا‬
O Allah, I ask You the ِ‫سؤَالَ َمن‬
ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ وََأسْألُك‬
question of one whose
indigence is extreme, ُ‫اشْتَدَّتْ فَاقَتُه‬
And who has stated to You in ِ‫وَأَنزَلَ بِكَ عِنْدَ الشَّدَائِد‬
difficulties his need
ُ‫حَاجَتَه‬
And whose desire for what is
with You has become great.
ُ‫وَعَظُمَ فِيمَا عِنْدَكَ رَغْبَ ُته‬
O Allah, Your force is َ‫سلْطَانُكَ وَعَال‬
ُ َ‫اللَّهُمَّ عَظُم‬
tremendous, Your place is
lofty, َ‫مَكَانُك‬
And Your deception is

hidden, Your command is َ‫وَخَفِي مَكْرُكَ وَظَهَرَ َأمْرُك‬
manifest,
And Your domination is ْ‫وَ َغلَبَ قَهْرُكَ وَجَرَت‬
overwhelming, Your power
is unhindered َ‫درَتُك‬
ْ ُ‫ق‬
And escape from Your
ْ‫كنُ الْفِرَارُ ِمن‬
ِ ْ‫وَال يُم‬
governance is impossible.
َ‫حُكُومَتِك‬
O Allah, I find no forgiver of
my sins,
ً‫ذنُوبِي غَافِرا‬
ُ ِ‫اللَّهُمَّ ال أَجِدُ ل‬
Nor concealer of my ugly
acts
ً‫وَّال لِقَبَائِحِي سَاتِرا‬
‫وَّال لِشَيٍْء ِّمنْ عَمَلِي‬
Nor transformer of any of my
ugly acts into good acts but ً‫سنِ مُبَدِّال‬
َ َ‫الْقَبِيحِ بِالْح‬
You
َ‫غَيْرَك‬
There is no god but You! َ‫ال إَِلهَ إِالَّ أَنت‬
Glory be to You, and Thine
is the praise!
َ‫سُبْحَانَكَ َوبِحَمْدِك‬
I have wronged myself, ‫َظلَمْتُ نَفْسِي‬
And I have been audacious in
my ignorance
‫وَتَجَرَّأْتُ بِجَ ْهلِي‬
And I have depended upon
Your ancient remembrance of
َ‫َوسَكَنتُ إِلَي قَدِيمِ ذِكْرِك‬
me and Your favour toward
me.
َّ‫لِي َومَنِّكَ َعلَي‬
O Allah! O my Protector! َ‫اللَّهُمَّ َموْالي‬
How many ugly things You
hast concealed!
ُ‫كَم مِّن قَبِيحٍ سَتَرْتَه‬
How many burdensome ِ‫وَكَم مِّن فَاِدحٍ ِّمنَ البَالء‬
tribulations You hast
abolished! ُ‫أَ َقلْ َته‬
And how many stumbles You ُ‫وَكَم ِّمنْ عِثَارٍ وَّقَيْتَه‬
hast prevented!
And how many ordeals You
hast repelled!
ُ‫وَكَم مِّن مَّكْرُوهٍ دَ َفعْ َته‬
And how much beautiful
praise, for which I was
ُ‫وَكَم مِّن ثَنَاٍء جَمِيلٍ لَّسْت‬
unworthy, You hast spread
abroad!
ُ‫أَهْالً َّلهُ نَشَرَْته‬
O Allah, my tribulation is
tremendous,
‫اللَّهُمَّ عَظُمَ بَالئِي‬
And my bad state is
excessive,
‫وَأَفْرَطَ بِي سُوءُ حَاِلي‬
And my acts are inadequate, ‫وَقَصُرَتْ بِي أَعْمَاِلي‬
And my fetters have tied me
down,
‫وَ َقعَدَتْ بِي أَغْالَلِي‬
And my far-fetched hopes ُ‫وَحَبَسَنِي عَن نَّ ْفعِي ُبعْد‬
have held me back from my
gain ‫آمَاِلي‬
And this world with its
delusions, my own soul with
‫الدنْيَا ِبغُرُورِهَا‬
ُّ ‫وَخَدَعَتْنِي‬
its offences and my delay
have deceived me.
‫َونَفْسِي بِجِنَايَتِهَا َومِطَاِلي‬
O my Master! So I ask You َ‫يَا سَيِّدِي فَ َأسْألُكَ ِبعِزَّتِك‬

by Your might not to let my
evil works and acts veil my
‫أَن ال يَحْجُبَ عَنْكَ دُعَائِي‬
supplication from You,
‫سُوءُ عَمَلِي وَ ِفعَاِلي‬
And not to disgrace me ‫وَال تَفْضَحَنِي بِخَفِيِّ مَا‬
through the hidden things
You knowest of my secrets ‫اط َلعْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِمنْ سِرِّي‬
َّ
And not to hasten me to ‫جلْنِي بِاْلعُقُوَبةِ عَلَى‬
ِ ‫وَال ُتعَا‬
punishment for what I have
done in private: ‫خ َلوَاتِي‬
َ ‫مَا عَ ِملْ ُتهُ فِي‬
My evil acts in secrecy and
my misdeeds
،‫ِمنْ سُوءِ ِف ْعلِي وَِإسَاءَتِي‬
And my continuous
negligence and my ignorance
‫وَدَوَامِ تَفْرِيطِي وَجَهَالَتِي‬
And my manifold passions

and my forgetfulness.
‫وَكَثْرَةِ شَ َهوَاتِي وَغَ ْفلَتِي‬
And by Your might, O Allah, ‫وَ ُكنِ اللَّهُمَّ ِبعِزَّتِكَ لِي فِي‬
be kind to me in all states
ً‫حوَاِل رَؤُوفا‬
ْ َ‫كُلِّ األ‬
And be gracious to me in all
ِ‫ألمُور‬
ُ ‫وَّ َعلَيَّ فِي جَمِيعِ ا‬
affairs!
ً‫عَطُوفا‬
My God and my Lord! Have َ‫إِلَهِي َورَبِّي مَن لِّي غَيْرُك‬
I any but You from whom to
ask removal of my affliction
َ‫َأسْأُلهُ كَشْفَ ضُرِّي وَالْنَّظَر‬
and regard for my affairs!
!‫فِي َأمْرِي‬
My God and my Protector! َّ‫إِلَهِي َو َموْالي أَجْرَيْتَ َعلَي‬
You put into effect through
me a decree in which I ‫حُكْماً اتَّ َبعْتُ فِيهِ َهوَى‬
followed the caprice of my
own soul ،‫نَفْسِي‬
And [I] did not remain wary
‫وَلَمْ أَحْتَرِسْ فِيهِ مِن‬
of adorning my enemy.
،‫تَزْيينِ عَدُوِّي‬
So he deluded me through ُ‫سعَدَه‬
ْ ‫َرنِي بِمَا أَ ْهوَى وََأ‬
َّ ‫َفغ‬
my soul's caprice and therein
destiny favoured him ُ‫َعلَى ذَلِكَ القَضَاء‬
So, in what was put into
effect through me in that
َّ‫فَتَجَا َوزْتُ بِمَا جَرَى َعلَي‬
situation, I transgressed some
of Your statutes
َ‫ِمنْ ذَلِكَ َبعْضَ حُدُودِك‬
And disobeyed some of Your
commands.
َ‫وَخَالَفْتُ َبعْضَ أَوَامِرِك‬
So Thine is the argument ‫ُجةُ َعلَيَّ فِي‬
َّ ‫َفلَكَ الْح‬
against me in all of that
َ‫جَمِيعِ ذَلِك‬
I have no argument in what ‫ُجةَ لِي فِيمَا جَرَي‬
َّ ‫وَال ح‬
Your destiny put into effect
through me therein ،َ‫َعلَيَّ فِيهِ قَضَاؤُك‬
nor in what Your decree and

Your tribulation imposed َ‫وَأَلْ َزمَنِي حُكْمُكَ وَبَالؤُك‬
upon me.
Now I have come to You, My َ‫وَقَدْ أَتَيْتُكَ يَا إِلَهِي َبعْد‬

God, after my shortcoming
and my immoderation toward
‫تَقْصِيرِي وَِإسْرَافِي عَلَى‬
myself,
‫نَفْسِي‬
Proffering my excuse,
regretful,
،ً‫ُمعْتَذِراً نَّادِما‬
Broken, apologizing, ً‫مُّنْكَسِراً مُّسْتَقِيال‬
Asking forgiveness,
repenting,
،ً‫مُّسْ َتغْفِراً مُّنِيبا‬
Acknowledging, submissive,
confessing.
ً‫مُّقِرّاً مُّذْعِناً ُّمعْتَرِفا‬
I find no place to flee from
what occurred through me,
‫ال أَجِدُ مَفَرّاً مِّمَّا كَانَ مِنِّي‬
Nor any place of escape to ‫َجهُ إِلَ ْيهِ في‬
َّ ‫وَال مَفْزَعاً أََتو‬
which I may turn in my
affairs, ‫َأمْرِي‬
Other than Your acceptance ،‫ذرِي‬
ْ ُ‫غَيْرَ قَبُولِكَ ع‬
of my excuse and Your
entering me into the compass
ٍ‫س َعة‬
َ ‫وَإِدخَاِلكَ إِيَاي فِي‬
of Your mercy.
َ‫مِّن رَّحْمَتِك‬
O Allah, so accept my
excuse,
‫ذرِي‬
ْ ُ‫اللَّهُمَّ فَاقْبَل ع‬
Have mercy upon the
severity of my affliction
‫وَارْحَمْ شِدَّةَ ضُرِّي‬
And release me from the
tightness of my fetters,
‫وَفُكَّنِي مِن شَدِّ وَثَاقِي‬
My Lord, have mercy upon
the weakness of my body, the ‫دنِي‬
َ َ‫ضعْفَ ب‬
َ ْ‫يَا رَبِّ ارْحَم‬
thinness of my skin and the
frailty of my bones.
‫ِقةَ عَظْمِي‬
َّ ‫جلْدِي وَد‬
ِ َ‫ِقة‬
َّ ‫َور‬
O You who gave rise to my
creation, to the remembrance ‫خلْقِي وَذِكْرِي‬
َ َ‫يَا َمنْ بَدَأ‬
of me, to the nurture of me,
to goodness toward me and

to nourishment on me,
‫وَتَ ْربِيَتِي َوبِرِّي وََتغْذِيَتِي‬
Bestow upon me for the sake
of Your having given rise [to َ‫هَبْنِي البْتِدَاءِ كَ َرمِك‬
me] with generosity and
Your previous goodness to ‫َوسَاِلفِ بِرِّكَ بِي‬
me!
O Allah, my Master and my
Lord!
‫يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي َورَبِّي‬
Canst You see Yourself
tormenting me with Your fire َ‫َذبِي بِنَارِكَ َبعْد‬
ِّ ‫أَتُرَاكَ ُمع‬
after I have professed Your
Unity
َ‫َتوْحِيدِك‬
And after the knowledge of ‫طوَى َعلَ ْيهِ َقلْبِي‬

َ ْ‫َوَبعْدَ مَا ان‬
You my heart has embraced,
َ‫مِن َّمعْرِفَتِك‬
And the remembrance of You
my tongue has constantly َ‫وَلَهِجَ ِبهِ لِسَانِي ِمنْ ذِكْرِك‬
mentioned
And the love of You to which ْ‫وَاعْتَقَدَهُ ضَمِيرِي ِمن‬

my mind has clung,
َ‫حُبِّك‬
And after the sincerity of my
confession and my ‫َوَبعْدَ صِدْقِ اعْتِرَافِي‬
supplication, humble before
Your lordship?
َ‫وَدُعَائِي خَاضِعاً لِّ ُربُوبِيَّتِك‬
Far be it from You! You art
more generous than that You ‫هَيْهَاتَ أَنتَ أَكْرَمُ ِمنْ أَن‬
shouldst squander him whom
You hast nurtured,
ُ‫َيعَ مَن رَّبَّيْتَه‬
ِّ ‫تُض‬
Or banish him whom You
hast brought nigh,
ُ‫أَوْ تُ ْبعِدَ َمنْ أَ ْدنَيْتَه‬
Or drive away him whom
You hast given an abode
ُ‫أَوْ تُشَرِّدَ َمنْ آوَيْتَه‬
Or submit to tribulation him ‫أَوْ تُسْلِّمَ إِلىَ الْبالءِ مَن‬
whom You hast spared and
shown mercy. ُ‫كَفَيْ َتهُ َورَحِمْتَه‬
Would that I knew, my
Master, My God and my
‫شعْرِي يَا سَيِّدِي‬
ِ َ‫وَلَيْت‬
Protector,
‫وَإِلَهِي َو َموْالي‬
Whether You wilt give the
Fire dominion over faces
ٍ‫َلطُ النَّارَ َعلَى وُجُوه‬
ِّ ‫أَتُس‬
fallen down prostrate before
Your Tremendousness,
ً‫خَرَّتْ لِعَظَمَتِكَ سَاجِدَة‬
And over tongues voicing ْ‫سنٍ نَّطَقَت‬

ُ ْ‫وَّ َعلَى أَل‬
sincerely the profession of
Your Unity and giving thanks
ً‫بِ َتوْحِيدِكَ صَادِ َقة‬
to You in praise,
ً‫َّوبِشُكْرِكَ مَادِحَة‬
And over hearts ْ‫وَّ َعلَى ُقلُوبٍ اعْتَرَفَت‬
acknowledging Your
Divinity through verification, ً‫ِبإِلَهِيَّتِكَ مُحَقِّقَة‬
And over minds َ‫وَّ َعلَى ضَمَائِرَ حَوَتْ ِمن‬
encompassing knowledge of
You until they have become
ْ‫اْل ِعلْمِ بِكَ حَتَّى صَارَت‬
humble
ً‫شعَة‬
ِ ‫خَا‬
‫سعَتْ إِلَى‬
َ َ‫وَّ َعلَى جَواِرح‬
And over bodily members
speeding to the places of ً‫أَوْطَانِ َتعَبُّدِكَ طَاِئ َعة‬
Your worship in obedience
and beckoning for Your َ‫وََّأشَارَتْ بِاسْ ِتغْفَارِك‬
forgiveness in submission.
ً‫مُذْعِ َنة‬
No such opinion is held of
You! Nor has such been
‫مَّا هَكَذَا الظَّنُّ بِكَ وَال‬
reported - thanks to Your
bounty — concerning You,
َ‫ضلِكَ عَنك‬
ْ َ‫أُخْبِ ْرنَا بِف‬
O All-generous! My Lord, ِّ‫ يَا رَب‬،ُ‫يَا كَرِيم‬
And You knowest my ‫ضعْفِي عَن‬
َ ُ‫وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَم‬
weakness before a little of
this world's tribulations and
‫الدنْيَا‬
ُّ ِ‫َقلِيلٍ مِّن بَالء‬
punishments,
،‫وَعُقُوبَاتِهَا‬
And before those ordeals َ‫َومَا يَجْرِي فِيهَا ِمن‬
which befall its inhabitants,

‫الْمَكَارِهِ َعلَى أَهْلِهَا‬
Even though it is a ،ٌ‫َعلَى أَنَّ ذَلِكَ بَالءٌ َّومَكْرُوه‬
tribulation and ordeal whose
stay is short, whose ،ُ‫ يَسِيرٌ بَقَاؤُه‬،ُ‫َقلِيلٌ مَّكْ ُثه‬
subsistence is but little and,
whose period is but fleeting. ُ‫قَصِيرٌ مُّدَّتُه‬
So how can I endure the ِ‫فَكَيْفَ احْتِمَاِلي لِبَالء‬
tribulations of the next world
and the great ordeals that
ِ‫جلِيلِ وُقُوع‬
َ َ‫اآلخِرَةِ و‬
occur within it?
!‫الْمَكَارِهِ فِيهَا‬
For it is a tribulation whose ،ُ‫وَ ُهوَ بَالءٌ تَطُولُ مُدَُّته‬
period is long, whose station
endures and whose sufferers
ُ‫ وَال يُخَفَّف‬،ُ‫وَيَدُومُ مَقَامُه‬
are given no respite,
ِ‫َعنْ أَ ْه ِله‬
ْ‫ألََّنهُ ال يَكُونُ إِالَّ َعن‬
Since it only occurs as a
result of Your wrath, Your َ‫غَضَبِكَ وَانتِقَامِك‬
vengeance and Your anger,
َ‫َوسَخَطِك‬
And these cannot be ُ‫وَهَذَا مَا ال تَقُومُ َله‬
withstood by the heavens and
the earth. ُ‫ألرْض‬
َ ‫السَّمَاوَاتُ وَا‬
O Master, so what about
me?!
‫يَا سَيِّدِي فَكَيْفَ بِي‬
ُ‫الضعِيفُ الذَّلِيل‬
َّ َ‫وََأنَا عَبْدُك‬
For I am Your weak, lowly,
base, wretched and miserable ُ‫الْحَقِيرُ الْمِسْكِين‬
slave.
ُ‫الْمُسْتَكِين‬
My God! My Lord! My ‫يَا إِلَهِي َورَبِّي َوسَيِّدِي‬
Master! My Protector!
‫َو َموْالي‬
For which things would I
complain to You?
‫ألمُورِ إِلَيْكَ َأشْكُو‬
ُ ‫ألَيِّ ا‬
And for which of them would

I lament and weep?
‫وَلِمَا مِنْهَا أَضِجُّ وََأبْكِي‬
For the pain and severity of
chastisement?
!ِ‫ألَلِيمِ اْلعَذَابِ َوشِدَِّته‬
Or for the length and period
of tribulation?
!ِ‫أَمْ لِطُولِ الْبَالءِ َومُدَِّته‬
So if You takest me to the ِ‫َفلَئِن صَيَّرْتَنِي ِل ْلعُقُوبَات‬
punishments with Your
enemies, َ‫َمعَ أَعْدَائِك‬
And gatherest me with the ِ‫وَجَ َمعْتَ بَيْنِي َوبَ ْينَ أَهْل‬
people of Your tribulation
َ‫بَالئِك‬
And separatest me from Your َ‫وَفَرَّقْتَ بَيْنِي َوبَ ْينَ أَحِبَّائِك‬
friends and saints,
َ‫وَأَوْلِيَائِك‬
Then suppose, My God, my ‫فَهَبْنِي يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي‬
Master, my Protector and my
Lord that I am able to endure
‫َو َموْالي َورَبِّي صَبَرْتُ َعلَى‬
Your chastisement,
،َ‫عَذَابِك‬
How can I endure separation
from You?
َ‫فَكَيْفَ أَصْبِرُ َعلَى فِرَاقِك‬
And suppose that I am able ِّ‫وَهَبْنِي صَبَرْتُ َعلَى حَر‬
to endure the heat of Your
fire, ،َ‫نَارِك‬
How can I endure not gazing
‫فَكَيْفَ أَصْبِرُ َعنِ النَّظَرِ إِلَى‬
upon Your generosity?
َ‫كَرَامَتِك‬
Or how can I dwell in the ِ‫كنُ فِي النَّار‬
ُ ْ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ َأس‬
Fire while my hope is Your
pardon? َ‫َورَجَائِي عَ ْفوُك‬
So by Your might, my
Master and my protector, I
‫فَ ِبعِزَّتِكَ يَا سَيِّدِي َو َموْالي‬
swear sincerely, if You
leavest me with speech,
‫ لَئِن تَرَكْتَنِي‬،ً‫أُقْسِمُ صَادِقا‬
ً‫نَاطِقا‬
I will lament to You from the
midst of the Fire's inhabitants
‫ألَضِجَّنَّ إِلَيْكَ بَ ْينَ أَ ْهلِهَا‬
with lamentation of the
hopeful;
َ‫ضَجِيجَ اآل ِملِين‬
I will cry to You with the cry َ‫وَألَصْرُخَنَّ إِلَيكَ صُرَاخ‬

of those crying for help;
َ‫المُسْتَصْرِخِين‬
I will weep to You with the
َ‫ألبْكِيَنَّ َعلَيْكَ بُكَاء‬
َ َ‫و‬
weeping of the bereft;
َ‫الفَاقِدِين‬
And I will call to You, ‫ألنَادِيَنَّكَ أَْينَ كُنتَ يَا‬
ُ َ‫و‬
Where art You, O Sponsor of
the believers, َ‫وَلِيَّ الْ ُم ْؤمِنِين‬
O Goal of the hopes of Your
knowers,
َ‫يَا غَاَيةَ آمَاِل العَارِفِين‬
O Aid of those who seek
assistance,
َ‫يَا غِيَاثَ المُسْ َتغِيثِين‬
O Friend of the hearts of the
sincere
َ‫يَا حَبِيبَ ُقلُوبِ الصَّادِقِين‬
And O God of all the world's
inhabitants!
َ‫وَيَا إَِلهَ العَالَمِين‬
Canst You see Yourself —
Glory be to You My God, ‫ سُبْحَانَكَ يَا إِلَهِي‬،َ‫أَفَتُرَاك‬
and Thine is the praised —
hearing within the Fire the
‫ تَسْ َمعُ فِيهَا‬،َ‫َوبِحَمْدِك‬
voice of a slave surrendered
to You,
ٍ‫سلِم‬
ْ ُّ‫صوْتَ عَبْدٍ م‬
َ
Imprisoned there because of
his violations,
ِ‫جنَ فِيهَا بِمُخَالَفَتِه‬
ِ ُ‫س‬
Tasting the favour of its ‫وَذَاقَ َطعْمَ عَذَابِهَا‬
torment because of his
disobedience, ِ‫بِ َمعْصِيَ ِته‬
And confined within its ‫وَحُبِسَ بَ ْينَ أَطْبَاقِهَا‬
levels because of his sin and
crime, ِ‫بِجُ ْر ِمهِ وَجَرِيرَتِه‬
While he laments to You َ‫وَ ُهوَ يَضِجُّ إلَيْكَ ضَجِيج‬

with the lament of one
hopeful for Your mercy, َ‫ُمؤَمِّلٍ لِّرَحْمَتِك‬
And calls to You with the ِ‫وَيُنَادِيكَ ِبلِسَانِ أَهْل‬
tongue of those who profess
Your Unity َ‫َتوْحِيدِك‬
And entreats You by Your
lordship!
َ‫وَيَ َتوَسَّلُ إلَيْكَ بِ ُربُوبِيَّتِك‬
My Protector, so how should ‫يَا َموْالي فَكَيْفَ يَبقَى فِي‬
he remain in the
chastisement, while he has َ‫سلَف‬
َ ‫اْلعَذَابِ وَ ُهوَ يَرْجُو مَا‬
hope for Your previous
clemency? َ‫حلْمِك‬
ِ ْ‫ِمن‬
Or how should the Fire cause َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ ُتؤْلِ ُمهُ النَّارُ وَ ُهو‬
him pain while he expects
Your bounty and mercy? َ‫ضلَكَ وَرَحْمَتَك‬
ْ َ‫يَامَلُ ف‬
‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يُحْرِ ُقهُ لَهِيبُهَا‬
Or how should its flames
burn him, while You hearest ‫صوَْتهُ وَتَرَى‬
َ ُ‫وَأَنتَ تَسْ َمع‬
his voice and seest his place?
ُ‫مَكَاَنه‬
Or how should its groaning ِ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَشْتَمِلُ َعلَ ْيه‬
encompass him, while You
knowest his weakness? ُ‫ضعْ َفه‬
َ ُ‫زَفِيرُهَا وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَم‬
Or how should he be
convulsed among its levels,
َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَتَ َقلْقَلُ بَ ْين‬
while You knowest his
sincerity?
ُ‫أَطْبَاقِهَا وَأَنتَ َت ْعلَمُ صِدْقَه‬
Or how should its keepers ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ تَزْجُرُهُ َزبَانِيَتُهَا‬
torture him while he calls out
to You, O Lord? ُ‫وَ ُهوَ يُنَادِيكَ يَا رَبَّه‬
Or how should he have hope
of Your bounty in freeing
‫ضلَكَ فِي‬
ْ َ‫أَمْ كَيْفَ يَرْجُو ف‬
him from it, while You
abandonest him within it?
‫عِتْ ِقهِ مِنْهَا فَتَتْرُ ُكهُ فِيهَا‬
Far be it from You! That is

not what is expected of You,
َ‫هَيهَاتَ مَا ذَلِكَ الظَّنُّ بِك‬
Nor what is well-known of
Your bounty,
َ‫ضلِك‬
ْ َ‫وَال الْ َمعْرُوفُ مِن ف‬
Nor it is similar to the ِ‫وَال مُشْ ِبهٌ لِمَا عَا َملْتَ ِبه‬
goodness and kindness You
hast shown to those who
َ‫الْ ُموَحِّدِينَ ِمنْ بِرِّك‬
profess Your Unity.
َ‫وَإِحْسَانِك‬
So I declare with certainty ‫طعُ َلوْال مَا‬
َ ْ‫فَبِالْيَقِينِ أَق‬
that were it not for what You
hast decreed concerning the
ِ‫حَكَمْتَ ِبهِ مِن َتعْذِيب‬
chastisement of Your deniers
َ‫جَاحِدِيك‬
And what You hast
foreordained concerning the
ِ‫وَقَضَيْتَ ِبهِ ِمنْ إِخْالَد‬
everlasting home of those
who stubbornly resist,
َ‫ُمعَانِدِيك‬
You wouldst make the Fire,

ً‫ج َعلْتَ النَّارَ كُلَّهَا بَرْدا‬
َ َ‫ل‬
all of it, coolness and safety,
،ً‫َّوسَالَما‬
And no one would have a ً‫َومَا كَانَ ألَحَدٍ فِيهَا مَقَرّا‬
place of rest or abode within
it. ً‫وَّال مُقَاما‬
But You—holy are Your َ‫َدسَتْ َأسْمَاؤُك‬
َّ ‫لَّكِنَّكَ تَق‬
Names—hast sworn that You
wilt fill it with the
َ‫أَقْسَمْتَ أَنْ تَمْألَهَا ِمن‬
unbelievers,
،َ‫الْكَافِرِين‬
Both Jinn and men together, َ‫ِنةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْ َمعِين‬
َّ ‫ِمنَ الْج‬
And that You wilt place
those who stubbornly resist َ‫وَأَن تُخَلِّدَ فِيهَا الْ ُمعَانِدِين‬
therein forever.
And You— majestic is Your
eulogy— said at the َ‫وَأَنتَ جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُكَ ُقلْت‬
beginning and wernt gracious
through kindness as a favour,
ِ‫إلْنعَام‬
ِ ‫ وَّتَطَوَّلْتَ بِا‬،ً‫مُبْتَدَئا‬
:ً‫مُتَكَرِّما‬
(What? Is he who has been
      
believer like unto him who
has been ungodly? They are
 
not equal)
My God and my Master! So I َ‫إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي فَأَسْألُك‬
ask You by the power You
hast apportioned ‫َدرْتَهَا‬
َّ ‫درَةِ الَّتِي ق‬
ْ ُ‫بِالْق‬
And by the decision which
You hast determined and ‫ِيةِ الَّتِي حَتَمْتَهَا‬
َّ ‫َوبِالْقَض‬
imposed and through which
You hast overcome him
ِ‫وَحَكَمْتَهَا وَ َغلَبْتَ َمنْ َعلَ ْيه‬
toward whom it has been put
into effect,
‫أَجْرَيْتَهَا‬
That You forgivest me in this

ِ‫ فِي هذِه‬،‫أَن تَهَبَ لِي‬
night and at this hour
ِ‫ وَفِي هَذِهِ السَّاعَة‬،ِ‫اللَّ ْي َلة‬
Every offence I have
committed,
ُ‫كُلَّ جُرْمٍ أَجْ َرمْتُه‬
And every sin I have
performed,
ُ‫وَكُلَّ َذنْبٍ أَ ْذنَبْتُه‬
And every ugly thing I have
concealed
ُ‫وَكُلَّ قَبِيحٍ َأسْ َررُْته‬
And every folly I have
enacted
،ُ‫وَكُلَّ جَهْلٍ عَ ِملْ ُته‬
Whether I have hidden or
announced it,
،ُ‫كَتَمْ ُتهُ أَوْ أَ ْعلَن ُته‬
Or I have concealed it or
manifested it
ُ‫أَخفَيْ ُتهُ أَوْ أَظْهَرُْته‬
And every evil act which ‫وَكُلَّ سَيِّ َئةٍ َأمَرْتَ ِبإِثْبَاتِهَا‬
You hast commanded the
Noble Writers to record, َ‫الْكِرَامَ الكَاتِبِين‬
Those whom You hast ‫َكلْتَهُم بِحِ ْفظِ مَا‬
َّ ‫الَّذِينَ و‬
appointed to watch over what
appears from me ‫يَكُونُ مِنِّي‬
And whom You hast made,
along with my bodily
َ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ شُهُوداً عَلَيَّ َمع‬
َ َ‫و‬
members, witness against

me.
،‫جوَارِحِي‬
َ
And You wast Yourself the َّ‫وَكُنتَ أَنتَ الرَّقِيبَ َعلَي‬
Watcher over me from
behind them, ،ْ‫مِن َّورَائِهِم‬
And the Witness of what is
hidden from them
،ْ‫وَالشَّاهِدَ لِمَا خَفِي عَنْهُم‬
But through Your mercy You
concealed it
،ُ‫َوبِرَحْمَتِكَ أَخْفَيْ َته‬
And through Your bounty
You veiled it.
ُ‫وَبفَضْلِكَ سَتَرَْته‬
[And I ask You] that You
bestowest upon me an
ِّ‫وَأَن ُتوَفِّرَ حَظِّي مِن كُل‬
abundant share of every good
You sendest down,
،ُ‫خَيْرٍ تُنْزُِله‬
Or kindness You conferrest, ُ‫ضلُه‬
ِ ْ‫أَوْ إِحْسَانٍ تُف‬
Or goodness You unfoldest, ،ُ‫أَوْ بِرٍّ تَنْشِرُه‬
Or provision You spreadest
out,
ُ‫أَوْ ِرزْقٍ تَبْسُطُه‬
Or sin You forgivest, ُ‫أَوْ َذنْبٍ َتغْفِرُه‬
Or error You coverest. ُ‫أَوْ خَطَأٍ تَسْتُرُه‬
My Lord! My Lord! My
Lord!
ِّ‫يَا رَبِّ يَا رَبِّ يَا رَب‬
My God! My Master! My ‫يَا إِلَهِي َوسَيِّدِي َو َموْالي‬
Protector! Owner of my
bondage! ‫َومَاِلكَ رِقِّي‬
O He in whose hand is my
forelock!
‫يَا َمنْ بِيَدِهِ نَاصِيَتِي‬
O He who knows my
affliction and my misery!
‫يَا َعلِيماً بِضُرِّي َومَسْكَنَتِي‬
O He who is aware of my
poverty and indigence!
‫يَا خَبِيراً بِفَقْرِي وَفَاقَتِي‬
Lord!
I ask You by Your Truth and
Your Holiness
َ‫َأسْألُكَ بِحَقِّكَ وَقُدْسِك‬
And the greatest of Your

Attributes and Names,
َ‫وَأَعْظَمِ صِفَاتِكَ وَأَسْمَائِك‬
That You makest my times in
the night and the day ِ‫جعَلَ أَوْقَاتِي فِي اللَّيل‬
ْ َ‫أن ت‬
inhabited by Your
remembrance,
،ً‫وَالنَّهَارِ بِذِكْرِكَ َمعْمُورَة‬
And joined to Your service ،ً‫دمَتِكَ َموْصُوَلة‬
ْ ِ‫َوبِخ‬
And my works acceptable to
You,
،ً‫وَّأَعْمَاِلي عِنْدَكَ مَقْبُوَلة‬
So that my works and my ‫حَتَّى تَكُونَ أَعْمَاِلي‬
litanies may all be a single
litany ،ً‫وَأَ ْورَادِي كُلُّهَا ِورْداً وَّاحِدا‬
And my occupation with
Your service everlasting.
ً‫دمَتِكَ سَ ْرمَدا‬
ْ ِ‫وَّحَاِلي فِي خ‬
My Master! O He upon
ِ‫ يَا مَنْ َعلَ ْيه‬،‫يَا سَيِّدِي‬
whom I depend!
‫ُمعَوَّلِي‬
O He to whom I complain
about my states!
‫حوَاِلي‬
ْ َ‫كوْتُ أ‬
َ َ‫يَا َمنْ إلَ ْيهِ ش‬
Lord!
Strengthen my bodily
members in Your service,
‫جوَارِحِي‬
َ َ‫دمَتِك‬
ْ ِ‫قَوِّ َعلَى خ‬
And fortify my ribs in

ِ‫وَاشْدُدْ عَلىَ اْلعَزِي َمة‬
determination
‫جوَانِحِي‬
َ
And bestow upon me ‫وَهَبْ لِي الْجِدَّ فِي‬
earnestness in my fear of
You َ‫خَشْيَتِك‬
And continuity in my being
‫وَالدَّوَامَ فِي اإلتِّصَاِل‬
joined to Your service
َ‫دمَتِك‬
ْ ِ‫بِخ‬
So that I may move easily ‫حَتَّى َأسْ َرحَ إِلَيكَ فِي‬
toward You in the
battlefields of the foremost َ‫مَيَادِينِ السَّابِقِين‬
And hurry to You among the

‫وَُأسْرِعَ إلَيْكَ فِي‬
prominent
َ‫الْمبُا ِدرِين‬
And desire fervently Your ‫وََأشْتَاقَ إلىَ قُرْبِكَ فِي‬
proximity among the
fervently desirous َ‫الْمُشْتَاقِين‬
And move nearer to You with
the nearness of the sincere
َ‫خلِصِين‬
ْ ُ‫وَأَ ْدُنوَ مِنْكَ ُدنُوَّ الْم‬
And fear You with the fear of
those who have certitude
َ‫وَأَخَافَكَ مَخَا َفةَ الْمُوقِنِين‬
And gather with the believers

َ‫جوَارِكَ َمع‬
ِ ‫وَأَجْتَ ِمعَ فِي‬
in Your vicinity.
َ‫الْ ُمؤْمنِين‬
O Allah, whoever desires evil ‫اللَّهُمَّ َو َمنْ َأرَا َدنِي بِسُوٍء‬
for me, desire [it] for him!
ُ‫فَ َأرِدْه‬
whoever deceives me-
deceive him!
ُ‫َومَن كَا َدنِي فَكِدْه‬
And make me one of the ِ‫سن‬
َ َ‫ج َعلْنِي ِمنْ أَح‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
most excellent of Your slaves
in Portion from You, َ‫عَبِيدِكَ نَصِيباً عِنْدَك‬
And the nearest of them in
station to You
َ‫وَأَقْ َربِهِم مَّنْزَِلةً مِّنْك‬
And the most elected of them
in proximity to You.
َ‫وَأَخَصِّهِمْ زُلْ َفةً لَّديْك‬
For that cannot be attained

َّ‫َفإَِّنهُ ال يُنَالُ ذَلِكَ إِال‬
except by Your bounty.
َ‫ضلِك‬
ْ َ‫بِف‬
And grant generously to me
through Your munificence,
َ‫وَجُدْ لِي بِجُودِك‬
And incline toward me with
Your splendour
َ‫وَاعْطِفْ عَلَيَّ بِمَجْدِك‬
And protect me with Your
mercy!
َ‫وَاحْفَظْنِي بِرَحْمَتِك‬
And make my tongue
remember You without
َ‫وَاجْعَل لِّسَانِي بِذِكْرِك‬
ceasing
ً‫لَهِجا‬
And my heart enthralled by
Your love!
ً‫وَّ َقلْبِي بِحُبِّكَ مُتَيَّما‬
And be gracious to me by
answering me favourably,
َ‫سنِ إِجَابَتِك‬
ْ ُ‫َّومُنَّ َعلَيَّ بِح‬
And nullify my slips ‫وَأَ ِقلْنِي عَثْرَتِي‬
And forgive my lapses! ‫وَاغْفِرْ زَلَّتِي‬
For You hast decreed Your َ‫َفإِنَّكَ قَضَيْتَ َعلَى عِبَادِك‬
worship for Your servants
َ‫ِبعِبَادَتِك‬
And commanded them to
supplicate You
َ‫وََأمَرْتَهُم بِدُعَائِك‬
And assured them that they
would be answered.
َ‫وَضَمِنتَ لَهُمُ اإلِجَابَة‬
So toward You, my Lord, I

ُ‫َفإِلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ نَصَبْت‬
have turned my face
‫وَجْهِي‬
And toward You, my Lord, I
have extended my hand.
‫وَإلَيْكَ يَا رَبِّ مَدَدتُّ يَدِي‬
So by Your might, comply with

‫فَ ِبعِزَّتِكَ اسْتَجِبْ لِي‬
my supplication
‫دُعَائِي‬
And make me attain my
desires!
‫َلغْنِي مُنَاي‬
ِّ ‫َوب‬
Do not severe my hoping for

َ‫طعْ مِن فَضْلِك‬
َ ْ‫وَال تَق‬
Your Favours
‫رَجَائِي‬
And spare me the evil of my ِ‫إلنْس‬
ِ ‫وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ الْجِنِّ وَا‬
enemies from among the jinn
and men! ‫ِمنْ أَعْدَائِي‬
O He, whose pleasure is
quickly achieved!
‫يَا سَرِيعَ الرِّضَا‬
Forgive him who owns
nothing but supplication
َّ‫اغْفِرْ لِمَن ال يَ ْملِكُ إِال‬
َ‫الدُّعَاء‬
For You dost what You wilt. ُ‫َفإِنَّكَ فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا تَشَاء‬
O He whose Name is a remedy, ٌ‫يَا َمنْ اسْ ُمهُ دَوَاء‬
And whose remembrance is a
cure,
ٌ‫وَذِكْرُهُ شِفَاء‬
And whose obedience is
wealth!
‫وَطَاعَ ُتهُ غِنًى‬
Have mercy upon him whose
capital is hope
ُ‫ارْحَم مَّن رَّأْسُ مَاِلهِ الرَّجَاء‬
And whose weapon is tears! ُ‫حهُ الْبُكَاء‬
ُ َ‫َوسِال‬
O Ample in blessings! ِ‫النعَم‬
ِّ َ‫يَا سَاِبغ‬
O Repeller of adversities! ِ‫يَا دَا ِفعَ النِّقَم‬
O Light of those who are
‫يَا نُورَ الْمُسْ َتوْحِشِينَ فِي‬
lonely in the darkness!
ِ‫الظلَم‬
ُّ
O Knower who was never
taught!
ُ‫يَا عَالِماً ال ُيعَلَّم‬
Bless Muhammad and

ِ‫صَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَّآل‬
Muhammad's household!
ٍ‫مُحَمَّد‬
And do with me what is
worthy of You!
ُ‫وا ْفعَلْ بِي مَا أَنتَ أَ ْهلُه‬
And Allah bless His messenger ِ‫اللهُ َعلَى َرسُوِله‬
َّ ‫وَصَلَّى‬
and the holy Imams of his
household ِ‫ِمةِ الْمَيَامِينَ ِمنْ آلِه‬
َّ ‫ألئ‬
َ ‫وَا‬
And give them abundant
peace!
ً‫سلِيماً كَثِيرا‬
Imam Jaa’far bin Muhammad As Sadiq (A.S.) had advised the faithfuls to pray a 2
Raka’t Namaaz tonight, after Ishaa prayers, as under: In the first Raka’t
recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Kaafiroon. In the second Raka’t recite
Soorah Al Faatih’ah and Soorah Al Ikhlaas.
When you accomplish the prayer, you may repeat (the phrase of) ‘sub¦anallah’
thirty-three times, (the phrase of) ‘al¦amdulillah’ thirty-three times, and (the
phrase of) ‘allahu-akbar’ thirty-four times. You may then say the following
supplication:
O He to Whom the servants ‫يَا َمنْ إلَ ْيهِ َملْجَأُ اْلعِبَادِ فِي‬
(of Him) resort in urgencies
،ِ‫الْمُهِمَّات‬
and to Whom the creatures
‫خلْقُ فِي‬
َ ْ‫وَإلَ ْيهِ يَفْزَعُ ال‬
turn in ordeals;
،ِ‫الْ ُملِمَّات‬
O He Who knows the open
and the hidden matters;
،ِ‫يَا عَالِمَ الْجَهْرِ وَالْخَفِيَّات‬
O He from Whom neither the ِ‫يَا َمنْ ال تَخْفَى َعلَ ْيه‬
ideas of illusions nor the
initiatives of delusions can be
ُ‫خوَاطِرُ األَوْهَامِ وَتَصَرُّف‬
َ
concealed;
،ِ‫الْخَطَرَات‬
O the Lord of creatures and
beings;
،ِ‫يَارَبَّ الْخَالئِقِ وَالْبَرِيَّات‬
O He Who grasps the ُ‫يَا َمنْ بِيَدِهِ مَلَكُوت‬
kingdoms of the earth and the
heavens; ،ِ‫ألرَضِينَ وَالسَّمَاوَات‬
َ‫ا‬
You are verily Allah; there is
no god save You;
،َ‫َأنْتَ ال ّلهُ ال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْت‬
I thus try to connect with you
in the name of ‘There is no ،َ‫َأمُتُّ إلَيْكَ بِال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْت‬
god save You’
So, O He save Whom there is ‫ج َعلْنِي‬
ْ ‫فَيَا ال إلهَ إالَّ َأنْتَ ا‬
no god: (please) include me at
this night with those at whom َ‫فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ مِمَّنْ نَظَرْت‬
You have looked and thus You
have mercy upon them; ،ُ‫إلَ ْيهِ فَرَحِمْ َته‬
and with those whose prayers

have been heard by You and
thus You have responded to
،ُ‫َوسَ ِمعْتَ دُعَاءَهُ فَأَجَبْ َته‬
them;
and with those whose true
repentance has been admitted
by You and thus You have
،ُ‫وَ َعلِمْتَ اسْتِقَالَ َتهُ فَأَ َقلْ َته‬
accepted it;
and You have thus overlooked ِ‫وَتَجَا َوزْتَ َعنْ سَالِف‬
their past sins and enormous
offenses. ،ِ‫خَطِيئَ ِتهِ وَعَظِيمِ جَرِيرَِته‬
verily, I am seeking Your ْ‫فَقَدِ اسْتَجَرْتُ بِكَ ِمن‬
shelter against my sins,
،‫ُذنُوبِي‬
and I am resorting to You so ِ‫وَلَجَأْتُ إلَيْكَ فِي سَتْر‬
that You may conceal my
defects. .‫عُيُوبِي‬
O Allah: (please) bestow َ‫اللّهُمَّ فَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِكَ َرمِك‬
lavishly upon me with Your
generosity and Favor; ،َ‫وَفَضلِك‬
and condone my misdeeds out َ‫حلْمِك‬
ِ ِ‫ططْ خَطَايَايَ ب‬
ُ ْ‫وَاح‬
of Your forbearance and
pardon, ،َ‫وَعَ ْفوِك‬
and encompass me, at this ِ‫دنِي فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلة‬
ْ َّ‫وََتغَم‬
night, with Your opulent
honoring, ،َ‫بِسَاِبغِ كَرَامَتِك‬
and include me at this night
with Your intimate servants َ‫ج َعلْنِي فِيهَا ِمنْ أَوْلِيَائِك‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
whom You have selected for
obeying You,
،َ‫الَّذِينَ اجْتَبَيْتَهُمْ لِطَاعَتِك‬
and whom You have chosen
for worshipping You,
،َ‫وَاخْتَرْتَهُمْ ِلعِبَادَتِك‬
and whom You have made

َ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ خَالِصَتَك‬
َ َ‫و‬
Your elite and select people.
.َ‫وَصِ ْفوَتَك‬
O Allah: (please) make me of َ‫سعَد‬

َ ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬
ْ ‫اللّهُمَّ ا‬
those whose efforts are of a
happy end, ،ُ‫جَدُّه‬
and those whose shares of
good things are big,
،ُ‫وََتوَفَّرَ ِمنَ الْخَيْرَاتِ حَظُّه‬
and make me of those who
enjoy blissful life as they have ،َ‫سلِمَ فَ َنعِم‬
َ ْ‫ج َعلْنِي مِمَّن‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
been safe (from sins)
and those who have been
awarded excellently as they ،َ‫وَفَازَ َفغَنِم‬
have won,
and rescue me from the evil
consequences of what I have ،ُ‫سلَفْت‬
ْ ‫وَاكْفِنِي شَرَّ مَا َأ‬
committed,
and save me from doing more

‫وَاعْصِمْنِي ِمنَ اإلزْدِيَادِ فِي‬
acts of disobedience to You,
،َ‫َمعْصِيَتِك‬
and make me love the acts of ‫وَحَبِّبْ إلَيَّ طَاعَتَكَ َومَا‬
obedience to You and
whatever draws me near You ‫يُقَرِّبُنِي مِنْكَ وَيُزْلِفُنِي‬
and approaches me toward
You. .َ‫عِنْدَك‬
O my Master: a fugitive
resorts to none save You,
،ُ‫سَيِّدِي إلَيْكَ َيلْجَأُ الْهَارِب‬
and a needy begs none save
You,
،ُ‫َومِنْكَ َيلْتَمِسُ الطَّالِب‬
and only on Your generosity ُ‫وَ َعلَى كَ َرمِكَ ُيعَوِّل‬
does a repentant, contrite one
depends ،ُ‫الْمُسْتَقِيلُ التَّائِب‬
You have disciplined Your
servants by means of َ‫أَدَّبْتَ عِبَادَكَ بِالتَّكَرُّمِ وََأنْت‬
generosity; and You are verily
the most Generous of all those ،َ‫أَكْرَمُ األَكْ َرمِين‬
who are generous.
and You have instructed Your
servants to pardon; and You َ‫وََأمَرْتَ بِالْعَ ْفوِ عِبَادَكَ وََأنْت‬
are verily the All-forgiving,
the All-merciful.
.ُ‫اْلغَفُورُ الرَّحِيم‬
O Allah: (please) do not ‫اللّهُمَّ فَال تَحْ ِرمْنِي مَا‬

deprive me of Your generosity
for which I hope, ،َ‫جوْتُ ِمنْ كَ َرمِك‬
َ َ‫ر‬
and do not make me despair of ِ‫وَال ُتؤْيِسْنِي ِمنْ سَاِبغ‬
Your opulent bounties,
،َ‫ِنعَمِك‬
and do not disappoint me of ِ‫وَال تُخَيِّبْنِي ِمنْ جَزِيل‬
Your abundant sustenance that
You decide, this night, for ِ‫قِسَمِكَ فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلة‬
those who are obedient to
You, ،َ‫ألهْلِ طَاعَتِك‬
and include me with Your ِ‫ج َعلْنِي فِي جُنَّةٍ ِمنْ شِرَار‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
protection against Your evil
creatures. ،َ‫بَرِيَّتِك‬
O my Lord: If I do not deserve ِ‫رَبِّ إنْ لَمْ أَ ُكنْ ِمنْ أَهْل‬
so, then You are worthy of
acting generously to me, and
ِ‫ذلِكَ فَ َأنْتَ أَهْلُ الْكَرَم‬
pardoning and forgiving me,
،ِ‫وَاْلعَ ْفوِ وَالْ َمغْفِرَة‬
and (please) bestow upon me
magnanimously according to
‫وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ بِمَا َأنْتَ أَ ْه ُلهُ ال‬
that which befits You, not
according to what I deserve,
،ُ‫بِمَا َأسْتَحِقُّه‬
verily, I carry an excellent
opinion about You,
،َ‫سنَ ظَنِّي بِك‬
ُ َ‫فَقَدْ ح‬
and I do hope for You, ،َ‫وَتَحَقَّقَ رَجَائِي لَك‬
and my self is hanged to the
rope of Your generosity,
َ‫وَ َعلِقَتْ نَفْسِي بِكَ َرمِك‬
for You are verily the most
Merciful of all those who ،َ‫فَ َأنْتَ َأرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِين‬
show mercy,
and You are the most
Generous of all those who are .َ‫وَأَكْرَمُ األَكْ َرمِين‬
generous.
O Allah: (please) confer upon

me exclusively with an ْ‫اللّهُمَّ وَاخْصُصْنِي ِمن‬
abundant share of what You
decide, out of Your ،َ‫كَ َرمِكَ بِجَزِيلِ قِسَمِك‬
generosity,
and I seek refuge with Your
pardon against Your ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمنْ عُقُوبَتِك‬
chastisement,
and (please) forgive me the sin ‫وَاغْفِرْ لِيَ الذَّنْبَ الَّذِي‬
that prevents me from
enjoying high morals, ،َ‫خلُق‬
ُ ْ‫يَحْبِسُ َعلَيَّ ال‬
and suppresses my sustenance, َ‫وَيُضَيِّقُ َعلَيَّ ال ّرزْق‬
so that I will do that which
excellently achieves Your ،َ‫حَتَّى أَقُومَ بِصَالِحِ رِضَاك‬
satisfaction
and I will enjoy Your profuse
granting,
،َ‫وََأْنعَمَ بِجَزِيلِ عَطَائِك‬
and I will be delighted by
Your abundant bounties.
،َ‫سعَدَ بِسَابِغِ َنعْمَائِك‬
ْ ‫وََأ‬
I am having recourse to Your
sanctity,
،َ‫فَقَدْ لُذْتُ بِحَ َرمِك‬
and I am asking for Your
generosity,
،َ‫وََتعَرَّضْتُ لِكَ َرمِك‬
and I am taking shelter in ْ‫وَاسْ َتعَذْتُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمن‬
Your pardon against Your
punishment, ،َ‫عُقُوبَتِك‬
and in Your forbearance
against Your ire.
،َ‫حلْمِكَ ِمنْ غَضَبِك‬
ِ ِ‫َوب‬
So, (please) bestow upon me
generously with that which I ،َ‫فَجُدْ بِمَا سَأَلْتُك‬
have asked from You,
and confer upon me with that
which I have begged from ،َ‫وََأنِلْ مَا الْتَمَسْتُ مِنْك‬
You,
I beseech You in Your name, َ‫َأسْأَلُكَ بِكَ ال بِشَيْءٍ ُهو‬
since there is nothing great
that You are. .َ‫أَعْظَمُ مِنْك‬
You may prostrate yourself and repeat the following 20 times:
O my Lord! .ِّ‫يَا رَب‬

And then repeat the following seven times:
O Allah! .ُ‫يَا اَهلل‬
And then repeat the following seven times:
There is neither might َّ‫حوْلَ وَال قُوَّةَ إال‬
َ ‫ال‬
nor power save with
Allah. .ِ‫بِال ّله‬
And then repeat the following ten times:
Only that which Allah
wants (will be).
.ٌُ‫مَا شَاءَ اهلل‬
And then repeat the following ten times:
There is no power save
with Allah.
.ِ‫ال قُوَّةَ إالَّ بِال ّله‬
You may then pray Allah (swt) for sending blessings upon the Holy Prophet and
ask for settling your requests.
Shaykh al-±£siy and Shaykh al-Kafàmiy say: It is suitable to say the following
supplication at this night; it is advisable to recite it after the Shaf prayer of Salatul
Layl.
O Allah: tonight the seekers of ‫إلهِي َتعَرَّضَ لَكَ فِي هذَا‬

favors, restless and eager, present
themselves to You; ،َ‫اللَّيْلِ الْمُ َتعَرِّضُون‬
the determined aspirers have You
in mind;
،َ‫وَقَصَدَكَ الْقَاصِدُون‬
those who make requests look َ‫وَأَمَّلَ فَضْلَكَ َو َمعْرُوفَك‬
long and attentively at Your
obligingness and kindness; ،َ‫الطَّالِبُون‬
You, in this night, give gifts,
ٌ‫وَلَكَ فِي هذَا اللَّيْلِ نَفَحَات‬
bounties beyond measure,
ُ‫جوَائِز‬
َ َ‫و‬
free donations, and favors, ُ‫وَعَطَايَا َو َموَاهِب‬
to those whom You will from ْ‫تَمُنُّ بِهَا َعلَى َمنْ تَشَاءُ ِمن‬
among Your servants when they
make a request, ،َ‫عِبَادِك‬
and say no to those who do not try
to get in advance (remain behind)
ُ‫وَتَمْ َنعُهَا َمنْ لَمْ تَسْبِقْ َله‬
for obtaining the bounties from
You.
،َ‫اْلعِنَاَيةُ مِنْك‬
I, a modest needy bondman, َ‫وَهَا َأنَا ذَا عُبَيْدُكَ الْفَقِيرُ إلَيْك‬
am hopeful of Your obligingness
and kindness.
،َ‫الْ ُمؤَمِّلُ فَضْلَكَ َو َمعْرُوفَك‬
Indeed if You, O My Master, َ‫فَإنْ كُنْتَ يَا َموْاليَ تَفَضَّلْت‬
bestows a favor on any one, in this
night, from among Your created
ْ‫فِي هذِهِ اللَّ ْي َلةِ َعلَى أَحَدٍ ِمن‬
beings,
َ‫خلْقِك‬
َ
and multiply profits and gains for ْ‫وَعُدْتَ َعلَ ْيهِ ِبعَائِدَةٍ ِمن‬
him out of love and affection,
َ‫عَطْفِك‬
please send blessings upon

Mu¦ammad and the Household of ٍ‫فَصَلِّ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّد‬
Mu¦ammad:
the pure, the immaculate, the َ‫الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ الْخَيِّرِين‬

virtuous, and the righteous;
،َ‫ضلِين‬
ِ ‫الْفَا‬
and then let me have enough and
be contented on account of Your َ‫طوْلِكَ َو َمعْرُوفِك‬
َ ِ‫وَجُدْ عَلَيَّ ب‬
liberality and obligingness,
O Lord of the worlds! ،َ‫يَا رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬
May Allah send blessings upon ِ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَم‬
Mu¦ammad, the seal of the
Prophets, َ‫النَّبِيِّين‬
and upon his Household, the
immaculate,
َ‫وَآِلهِ الطَّاهِرِين‬
and may He exalt them very much. ً‫سلِيما‬
verily, Allah is worthy of all
praise, full of all glory.
.ٌ‫إنَّ ال ّلهَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيد‬
O Allah: I am praying You as You
ordered me to do,
َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي أَدْعُوكَ كَمَا َأمَرْت‬
So, (please) respond to me as You
promised.
َ‫فَاسْتَجِبْ لِي كَمَا وَعَدْت‬
verily, You never break Your
promise.
.َ‫خلِفُ الْمِيعَاد‬
ْ ُ‫إنَّكَ ال ت‬
Dua of Holy Prophet in Sajdah after Salatul Layl
Prostrating before You are ‫سوَادِي‬

َ َ‫سَجَدَ لَك‬
my body and my shadow
،‫وَخَيَالِي‬
and my heart is in full faith
of You
،‫وَآ َمنَ بِكَ ُفؤَادِي‬
These are my two hands ُ‫هذِهِ يَدَايَ َومَا جَنَيْ ُته‬
and this is what I have
committed against myself, ،‫َعلَى نَفْسِي‬
O the All-great: You are ِّ‫يَا عَظِيمُ تُرْجَى لِكُل‬
hoped for all enormous
things; ٍ‫عَظِيم‬
Please, forgive me my
serious offences
َ‫اغْفِرْ لِيَ الْعَظِيم‬
because none can forgive َ‫فَإنَّهُ ال َيغْفِرُ الذَّنْبَ اْلعَظِيم‬
the serious sin except the
All-great Lord. .ُ‫إالَّ الرَّبُّ اْلعَظِيم‬
The Holy Prophet (a.s) then raised his head and then prostrated himself again,
saying:
‫أَعُوذُ بِنُورِ وَجْهِكَ الَّذِي‬
I seek the protection of the
light of Your Face that has ُ‫أَضَاءَتْ َلهُ السَّمَاوَات‬
lit the heavens and the earth
،َ‫ألرَضُون‬
َ ‫وَا‬
and has removed all
darkness
،ُ‫وَانْكَشَفَتْ َلهُ الظُّلُمَات‬
and has made active all the َ‫صلَحَ َعلَ ْيهِ َأمْرُ األَوَّلِين‬
َ َ‫و‬
affairs of the past and the
coming generations َ‫وَاآلخِرِين‬
against Your sudden
chastisement
،َ‫ِمنْ فُجْأَةِ نَقِمَتِك‬
and against withdrawing the
good health that You have ،َ‫حوِيلِ عَافِيَتِك‬
ْ َ‫وَ ِمنْ ت‬
granted me
and against the vanishing of

Your bounties.
.َ‫َو ِمنْ زَوَالِ ِنعْمَتِك‬
O Allah: (please) grant me ً‫اللّهُمَّ ا ْرزُقْنِي َقلْباً تَقِيّا‬
a heart that is pious and
pure, ً‫نَقِيّا‬
and is released from
polytheism,
ً‫َو ِمنَ الشِّرْكِ بَرِيئا‬
and is neither atheist nor
unhappy.
.ً‫ال كَافِراً وَال شَقِيّا‬
The Holy Prophet (a.s) then attached his face to the ground and said:
I am putting my face on
‫عَفَّرْتُ وَجْهِي فِي‬
the ground
ِ‫التُّرَاب‬
and it is my duty to
prostrate myself before َ‫وَحُقَّ لِي أَنْ َأسْجُدَ لَك‬
You
Salaat Ja’far Tayyar

Imam Muhammad Al Baqir and Imam Ja’far Sadiq (A.S.) used to pray a 4 Raka’t
Salaat tonight as under:
In Every Raka’t recite Soorah Al Faatih’ah 100 times and Soorah Al Ikhlass 100
times After the Salaam recite the following dua’a:
O Allah: I am in need for
You,
،ٌ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي إلَيْكَ فَقِير‬
and I am fearful of You and ٌ‫َو ِمنْ عَذَابِكَ خَائِف‬
seeking Your shelter against
Your chastisement. .ٌ‫مُسْتَجِير‬
O Allah: (please) do not erase
my name,
،‫اللّهُمَّ ال تُبَدِّلِ اسْمِي‬
and do not change my body, ،‫وَال ُتغَيِّرْ جِسْمِي‬
and do not increase my
ordeals,
،‫وَال تَجْهَدْ بَالئِي‬
and do not make my enemies
rejoice at my misfortune.
،‫وَال تُشْمِتْ بِي أَعْدَائِي‬
I resort to Your pardon
against Your punishment,
،َ‫أَعُوذُ ِبعَ ْفوِكَ ِمنْ عِقَابِك‬
and I resort to Your mercy
against Your chastisement,
،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِرَحْمَتِكَ ِمنْ عَذَابِك‬
and I resort to Your pleasure
against Your wrath,
،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِرِضَاكَ ِمنْ سَخَطِك‬
and I resort to You from You ،َ‫وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْك‬
Enormous be the praise of
You
َ‫جَلَّ ثَنَاؤُك‬
You are as exactly as You
have praised Yourself,
َ‫َأنْتَ كَمَا أَثْنَيْتَ َعلَى نَفْسِك‬
and above all that which is
said about You.
.َ‫وَ َفوْقَ مَا يَقُولُ الْقَاِئلُون‬
It is worth mentioning that °ad¢ths have decided a great reward for him who offers
a one hundred Rakàh prayer at this night; in each Rakàh of which the S£rah of al-
Fati¦ah is recited once and the S£rah of al-Taw¦¢d is repeated ten times.
15 th of Sha`ban
On the fifteenth of Sha`ban, the twelfth Imam al-Mahdi, the Patron of the Age
(¯a¦ib al-Zaman), was born—may Allah (swt)’s blessings be upon him and his
immaculate ancestors.
Recite the following ziyarah on this day:
In the Name of Allah; the All-

beneficent, the All-merciful. ِ‫ن ٱلرَّحِيم‬
ِ ٰ‫م ٱللَّ ِه ٱلرَّحْم‬
ِ ْ‫بِس‬
Peace be upon the Household of
Y¡s¢n. .‫ل يـٰس‬
ِ ‫ىآ‬
ٰ َ‫سَالَمٌ عَل‬
Peace be upon you, O caller to ِ‫ي ٱللَّه‬
َ ِ‫ك يَا دَاع‬
َ ْ‫اَلسَّالَمُ عَ َلي‬
Allah and interpreter of His
Verses. ِ‫ِي آيَاتِه‬
َّ ‫َورَبَّان‬
Peace be upon you, O door to ِ‫ب ٱللَّه‬
َ ‫ك يَا بَا‬
Allah and applier of His
religion. ِ‫ن دِينِه‬
َ ‫وَدَيَّا‬
Peace be upon you, O viceroy of
ِ‫ك يَا خَلِيفَ َة ٱللَّه‬
Allah and backer of His right.
ِ‫وَنَاصِ َر حَقِّه‬
Peace be upon you, O Argument ‫ك يَا حُجَّ َة ٱللَّ ِه‬
of Allah and sign of His
volition. ِ‫ل إِرَادَتِه‬
َ ‫وَ َدلِي‬
Peace be upon you, O reciter of ِ‫ي ِكتَاب‬
َ ِ‫ك يَا تَال‬
the Book of Allah and its
interpreter. ُ‫ٱللَّ ِه وَتَرْجُمَانَه‬
Peace be upon you at the hours ‫ك‬
َ ِ‫ك فِي آنَا ِء َليْل‬
of Your night and the two ends
of Your day. َ‫وَاطْرَافِ َنهَارِك‬
Peace be upon you, O herald of
Allah on His lands. ِ‫ك يَا بَقِيَّ َة ٱللَّه‬
ِ‫فِي ارْضِه‬
Peace be upon you, O covenant ‫ق ٱللَّ ِه‬
َ ‫ك يَا مِيثَا‬
of Allah that He has made and
confirmed. ُ‫ٱلَّذِي اخَذَ ُه وَوَكَّدَه‬
Peace be upon you, O Promise
ِ‫د ٱللَّه‬
َ ْ‫ك يَا َوع‬
of Allah that He has assured.
ُ‫ٱلَّذِي ضَ ِمنَه‬
Peace be upon you, O appointed
ُ‫ك اُّيهَا ٱْلعَلَم‬
pennon,
ُ‫ٱلْ َمنْصُوب‬
poured knowledge, ُ‫صبُوب‬
ْ َ‫م ٱلْم‬
ُ ْ‫وَٱْلعِل‬
aid, and expansive mercy. ُ‫سعَة‬
ِ ‫وَٱْلغَوْثُ وَٱلرَّحْمَ ُة ٱلْوَا‬
This is verily a promise that
shall never be belied. ٍ‫َوعْداً َغيْرَ مَكْذُوب‬
Peace be upon you whenever
you rise (to undertake the ُ‫ن تَقوُم‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
mission).
you sit. ُ‫ن تَ ْقعُد‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
ُ‫ن تَقْرَا‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
you recite and elucidate.
ُ‫وَُتبَيِّن‬
‫ن تُصَلِّي‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
you offer prayer and supplicate.
ُ‫وَتَ ْقنُت‬
Peace be upon you whenever ‫ع‬
ُ َ‫ن تَرْك‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
you genuflect and prostrate
(yourself for Allah). ُ‫سجُد‬
ْ َ‫وَت‬
you profess Allah’s Godhead ُ‫َلل‬
ِّ ‫ن ُته‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
and profess His All-greatness.
ُ‫وَتُكَبِّر‬
Peace be upon you whenever ‫د‬
ُ َ‫ن َتحْم‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
you praise Allah and implore for
His forgiveness. ُ‫س َتغْفِر‬
ْ َ‫وَت‬
‫ح‬
ُ ِ‫صب‬
ْ ُ‫ن ت‬
َ ‫ك حِي‬
you begin and end your day.
‫وَتُمْسِي‬
Peace be upon you in the night
‫ل إِذَا‬
ِ ‫ٱلل ْي‬
َّ ‫ك فِي‬
when it draws a veil
ٰ‫َيغْشَى‬
and the day when it shines in
brightness. ٰ‫َٱلنهَا ِر إِذَا َتجَلَّى‬
َّ ‫و‬
Peace be upon you, O entrusted
ُ‫ك اُّيهَا ٱإلِمَام‬
leader.
ُ‫ٱلْمامُون‬
Peace be upon you, O favored
‫ك اُّيهَا ٱلْمُقَدَّ ُم‬
and expected.
ُ‫ٱلْمامُول‬
Peace be upon you to the
ِ‫ك ِبجَوَامِع‬
ultimate meaning of peace.
ِ‫ٱلسَّالَم‬
I solicit you, O my master, َ‫شهِدُكَ يَا مَوْالَي‬
ْ‫ا‬
to testify to me that I bear
witness that there is no god but ُ‫ِال ٱللَّه‬
َّ ِ‫ن الَ إِلٰ َه إ‬
ْ ‫دا‬
ُ َ‫شه‬
ْ ‫انِّي ا‬
Allah;
One and Only Lord and having
no associate, ُ‫وَحْدَ ُه الَ شَرِيكَ لَه‬
and that Mu¦ammad is His
servant and messenger. ُ‫وَانَّ ُمحَمَّدًا َعبْدُهُ َورَسُولُه‬
There is no one more beloved by
Allah than him and his ُ‫ِال هُ َو وَاهْلُه‬
َّ ِ‫ب إ‬
َ ‫حبِي‬
َ َ‫ال‬
household.
And I solicit you, O my master,

to testify to me that I bear َ‫ك يَا مَوْالَي‬
َ ُ‫شهِد‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
witness
that Àl¢ the Commander of the

َ‫انَّ عَ ِليّ ًا امِي َر ٱلْمُؤْ ِمنِين‬
Faithful is His argument,
ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ح‬
al-°asan is His argument, ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ن ح‬
َ َ‫وَٱْلحَس‬
al-°usayn is His argument, ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ن ح‬
َ ْ‫سي‬
َ ُ‫وَٱْلح‬
Àl¢ the son of al-°usayn is His
argument, ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ن ح‬
ِ ْ‫سي‬
َ ُ‫ن ٱْلح‬
َ ْ‫ِي ب‬
َّ ‫َوعَل‬
Mu¦ammad the son of Àl¢ is
His argument, ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ِي ح‬
ٍّ ‫د بْنَ عَل‬
َ َّ‫وَ ُمحَم‬
Ja`far the son of Mu¦ammad is
َّ ‫د ح‬
ٍ َّ‫جعْفَ َر بْنَ ُمحَم‬
َ َ‫و‬
M£s¡ the son of Ja`far is His
َّ ‫ن جَعْفَ ٍر ح‬
َ ْ‫ى ب‬
ٰ َ‫وَموُس‬
Àl¢ the son of M£s¡ is His
َّ ‫ى ح‬
ٰ َ‫ِي بْنَ مُوس‬
Mu¦ammad the son of Àl¢ is
َّ ‫ِي ح‬
ٍّ ‫د بْنَ عَل‬
َ َّ‫وَ ُمحَم‬
Àl¢ the son of Mu¦ammad is
َّ ‫د ح‬
ٍ َّ‫ِي بْنَ ُمحَم‬
and al-°asan the son of Àl¢ is
His argument. ُ‫ُجتُه‬
َّ ‫ِي ح‬
ٍّ ‫ن عَل‬
َ ْ‫ن ب‬
َ َ‫وَٱْلحَس‬
I also bear witness that you are
verily the argument of Allah. ِ‫ك حُجَّ ُة ٱللَّه‬
َ َّ‫د ان‬
ُ َ‫شه‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
You all are the first and the last. ُ‫ل وَٱآلخِر‬
ُ َّ‫م ٱالو‬
ُ ُ‫اْنت‬
And (I bear witness) that your َ‫َق الَ رَيْب‬
ٌّ ‫م ح‬
ْ ُ‫ج َعتَك‬
ْ َ‫ن ر‬
َّ ‫وَا‬
(promised) Return is
undoubtedly true ‫فِيهَا‬
“On the day when its belief
avails not a soul ‫ع نَفْس ًا إِيـمَاُنهَا‬
ُ َ‫يَوْ َم الَ َينْف‬
which theretofore believed not, ُ‫ن َق ْبل‬
ْ ِ‫ن آ َمنَتْ م‬
ْ ُ‫م تَك‬
ْ َ‫ل‬
nor in its belief earned good by

works,” ً‫خيْرا‬
َ ‫ت فِي إِيـمَاِنهَا‬
ْ َ‫سب‬
َ َ‫ا ْو ك‬
death is true, ٌّ‫ت حَق‬
َ ْ‫وَانَّ ٱلْمَو‬
and N¡kir and Nak¢r are true. ٌّ‫وَانَّ نَاكِرًا وَنَكيرًا حَق‬
And I bear witness that the
Raising for death is true, ٌّ‫ن ٱلنَّشْ َر حَق‬
َّ ‫د ا‬
ُ َ‫شه‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
the Resurrection is true, ٌّ‫ث حَق‬
َ َ‫وَٱْل َبع‬
the Discriminating Bridge is
true, ٌّ‫ط حَق‬
َ ‫وَانَّ ٱلصِّرَا‬
the Watchtower is true, ٌّ‫وَٱلْمِرْصَا َد حَق‬
the Balance (of deeds) is true, ٌّ‫ن حَق‬
َ ‫وَٱلْمِيزَا‬
the Gathering is true, ٌّ‫وَٱْلحَشْ َر حَق‬
the Reckoning is true, ٌّ‫ب حَق‬
َ ‫وَٱْلحِسَا‬
Paradise and Hell are true, ٌّ‫وَٱْلجَنَّ َة وَٱلنَّا َر حَق‬
and the promise of Paradise and
the threat with Hell are true. ٌّ‫د ِبهِمَا حَق‬
َ ‫د وَٱلْ َوعِي‬
َ ْ‫وَٱلْ َوع‬
O My master! Certainly
wretched is he who opposes you ْ‫ن خَالَفَكُم‬
ْ َ‫ي شَقِيَ م‬
َ َ‫يَا مَوْال‬
and certainly happy is he who
obeys you. ْ‫سعِدَ مَنْ اطَاعَكُم‬
َ َ‫و‬
So, testify to me all that which I
‫ك‬
َ ُ‫شهَدْت‬
ْ ‫شهَدْ عَلَىٰ مَا ا‬
ْ ‫فَٱ‬
have besought you to testify.
ِ‫عَ َليْه‬
I am verily an ally of you َ‫وَانَا َولِيٌّ لَك‬
and denouncing your enemy. َ‫بَرِيءٌ مِنْ عَدُوِّك‬
The truth is only that which you
accept, ُ‫فَٱْلحَقُّ مَا رَضِيتُمُوه‬
the wrong is only that which you

disallow, ُ‫طتُمُوه‬
ْ َ‫سخ‬
ْ ‫وَٱْلبَا ِطلُ مَا ا‬
the good is only that which you
enjoin, ِ‫م بِه‬
ْ ُ‫وَٱلْ َمعْرُوفُ مَا امَرْت‬
and the evil is only that which
you forbid. ُ‫وَٱلْ ُمنْكَرُ مَا َن َه ْيتُمْ َعنْه‬
My soul is thus believing in
Allah; ِ‫َفنَفْسِي مُؤْ ِمنَ ٌة بِٱللَّه‬
One and Only Lord and having
no associate, ُ‫وَحْدَ ُه الَ شَريكَ لَه‬
and also in His Messenger, in
the Commander of the Faithful, َ‫وَبِرَسُولِ ِه وَبِامِي ِر ٱلْمُؤْ ِمنِين‬
and in you all, O my master,
ْ‫ي ا َّولِكُم‬
َ َ‫م يَا مَوْال‬
ْ ُ‫وَبِك‬
from the beginning to the end.
ْ‫وَآخِرِكُم‬
I have prepared myself to back
you ْ‫وَنُصْرَتِي ُمعَدَّةٌ لَكُم‬
and my love is sincerely
dedicated to you. ْ‫وَمَوَدَّتِي خَالِصَةٌ لَكُم‬
Respond! Respond! َ‫ن آمِين‬
َ ‫آمِي‬
Last Days of the Month of Sha`ban
Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) is reported as saying, “If one observes fasting on the last three
days of Sha`ban and attach it to the obligatory fasting of Rama¤an, Allah (swt) will
decide his as observing fasting in two consecutive months.”
Abu’l-¯alt al-Harawiy has narrated that when he visited Imam al-Ri¤a (a.s) on the
last Friday of Sha`ban, the Imam said to him, “Abu’l-¯alt: The majority of Sha`ban
has passed. This is the last Friday in it. You should thus settle what you have
missed in this month by working hard in the rest of it. You may supplicate, seek
forgiveness of Allah (swt), recite the Holy Qur'an, and repent before Allah (swt)
from your sins so that you receive the month of Rama¤an with pure sincerity to
Allah (swt). You must fulfill all the trusts that you are liable to settle; and do not
bear malice against any of your brethren-in-faith; and you must give up any sin that
you commit. Fear Allah (swt) and trust in Him in secret and openly, for ‘If any one
puts his trust in Allah, sufficient is (Allah) for him. For Allah will surely
accomplish his purpose: verily, for all things has Allah appointed a due proportion.
65/3’
In the rest days of Sha`ban, you may repeat the following supplication very much
for Allah (swt) saves many people from Hellfire on account of the sanctity of this
month:
O Allah: If You have not forgiven us
in the past days of Sha`ban,
‫كنْ غَفَرْتَ لَنَا‬
ُ َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنْ لَمْ ت‬
َ‫شعْبَان‬
َ ْ‫فِيمَا مَضَى ِمن‬
(please do) forgive us in the rest of it.
.ُ‫فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا فِيمَا بَقِيَ مِ ْنه‬
Last Night of Sha`ban
Shaykh al-±£siy has narrated on the authority of °arith ibn Mugh¢rah al-Na¤riy
that Imam al-¯adiq (a.s) used to say the following supplication at the last night of
Sha`ban and the first night of Rama¤an:
O Allah: verily, this blessed َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنَّ هذَا الشَّهْرَ الْمُبَارَك‬
month, in which the Qur'an was
revealed ُ‫الَّذِي ُأنْزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآن‬
and was made guidance for
people and clear proofs of the
ٍ‫دىً لِلنَّاسِ َوبَيِّنَات‬
َ ُ‫جعِلَ ه‬
ُ َ‫و‬
guidance, and the Criterion (of
right and wrong),
ِ‫ِمنَ الْهُدَى وَالْفُرْقَان‬
has commenced َ‫قَدْ حَضَر‬
So, (please) keep us out of
blemish during it,
ِ‫فَسَلِّمْنَا فِيه‬
and keep it sound for us, ‫َوسَلَّ ْمهُ لَنَا‬
and receive it from us with َ‫وَتَسَلَّ ْمهُ مِنَّا فِي يُسْرٍ مِنْك‬
means of easiness and good
health from You ،ٍ‫وَعَافِيَة‬
O He Who has accepted the little َ‫يَا َمنْ أَخَذَ الْ َقلِيلَ َوشَكَر‬
(deed) and thanked for the much;
َ‫الْكَثِير‬
(please) accept from me the little
(deed).
.َ‫اقْبَلْ مِنِّي الْيَسِير‬
O Allah: I beseech You to ْ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي َأسْأَلُكَ أَن‬
make for me a path to every
ٍ‫جعَلَ لِي إلَى كُلِّ خَيْر‬
ْ َ‫ت‬
decency,
،ً‫سَبِيال‬
and to make for me a barrier
against everything that You do ً‫َو ِمنْ كُلِّ مَا ال تُحِبُّ مَانِعا‬
not like
O the most Merciful of all those
who show mercy.
O He Who has pardoned me and ُ‫خلَوْت‬

َ ‫يَا َمنْ عَفَا عَنِّي وَعَمَّا‬
overlooked the misdeeds that I
have committed secretly; ،ِ‫ِبهِ ِمنَ السَّيِّئَات‬
O He Who has not punished me ِ‫ذنِي بِارْتِكَاب‬
ْ ِ‫يَا َمنْ لَمْ ُيؤَاخ‬
for my committing acts of
disobedience to Him: ،‫الْ َمعَاصِي‬
I seek Your pardon, I seek Your ‫ يَا‬،َ‫عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَك‬
pardon, I seek Your pardon, O
the All-generous. .ُ‫كَرِيم‬
O my God: You advised me, but
I have not followed Your advice,
،ْ‫إلهِي وَعَظْتَنِي َفلَمْ أَتَّ ِعظ‬
and You rebuked me for
violating that which You have ْ‫َوزَجَرْتَنِي َعنْ مَحَا ِرمِكَ فَلَم‬
deemed forbidden, but I have not
stopped,
،ْ‫َأنْزَجِر‬
Now, what is my excuse? ‫ذرِي؟‬
ْ ُ‫فَمَا ع‬
So, (please) pardon me, O the َ‫ عَ ْفوَك‬،ُ‫فَاعْفُ عَنِّي يَا كَرِيم‬
All-generous; I seek Your
pardon, I seek Your pardon! .َ‫عَ ْفوَك‬
O Allah: I beseech You َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنّي َأسْأَلُك‬
for rest at death, ،ِ‫حةَ عِنْدَ الْمَوْت‬
َ ‫الرَّا‬
and for pardon at calling to
account.
،ِ‫وَاْلعَ ْفوَ عِنْدَ الْحِسَاب‬
َ‫عَظُمَ الذَّنْبُ ِمنْ عَبْدِك‬
Great is the sin of Your servant;
so, let Your overlooking him be ْ‫سنِ التَّجَا ُوزُ ِمن‬
ُ ْ‫َفلْيَح‬
excellent.
،َ‫عِنْدِك‬
O He Who is worthy of being
feared and is worthy of
َ‫يَا أَهْلَ التَّ ْقوَى وَيَا أَهْل‬
forgiving; I seek Your pardon, I
seek Your pardon.
.َ‫ عَ ْفوَكَ عَ ْفوَك‬،ِ‫الْ َمغْفِرَة‬
I Allah: I am Your servant and َ‫اللّهُمَّ إنِّي عَبْدُكَ ْبنُ عَبْدِك‬

the son of Your servant and Your
she-servant, َ‫ْبنُ َأمَتِك‬
and I am weak and in need for
Your mercy;
،َ‫ضعِيفٌ فَقِيرٌ إلَى رَحْمَتِك‬
َ
and You are the Pourer of wealth ِ‫وََأنْتَ مُنْزِلُ اْلغِنَى وَالْبَرَ َكة‬
and bless on the servants (of
You), ،ِ‫َعلَى اْلعِبَاد‬
and You are omnipotent and full
of power;
ٌ‫در‬
ِ َ‫قَاهِرٌ مُقْت‬
as You have recorded all their
(i.e. Your servants) deeds,
،ْ‫أَحْصَيْتَ أَعْمَالَهُم‬
and You have decided the
sustenance of each one them,
،ْ‫وَقَسَمْتَ َأ ْرزَاقَهُم‬
and You have made them of ْ‫ج َعلْتَهُمْ مُخْ َتلِ َفةً أَلْسِنَتُهُم‬
َ َ‫و‬
different languages and colors;
in different stages of creation; ،ٍ‫خلْق‬
َ ِ‫وَأَْلوَانُهُمْ خَلْقاً ِمنْ َبعْد‬
Your servants can never attain
Your knowledge,
،َ‫وَال َي ْعلَمُ اْلعِبَادُ ِعلْمَك‬
and Your servants can never
recognize the real estimate that ،َ‫درَك‬
ْ َ‫درُ اْلعِبَادُ ق‬
ِ ْ‫وَال يَق‬
is due to You
and all of us are needy for Your
mercy;
،َ‫وَكُلُّنَا فَقِيرٌ إلَى رَحْمَتِك‬
So, (please) do not turn Your
Face away from me,
،َ‫فَال تَصْرِفْ عَنِّي وَجْهَك‬
َ‫ج َعلْنِي ِمنْ صَالِحِي خَلْقِك‬
ْ ‫وَا‬
and include me with the virtuous
creatures of You in deeds, hopes, ِ‫ألمَلِ وَالْقَضَاء‬
َ ‫فِي اْلعَمَلِ وَا‬
and Your decisions (for me).
.ِ‫در‬
َ َ‫وَالْق‬
O Allah: (please) keep me alive
in the best manner of living,
،ِ‫اللّهُمَّ أَبْقِنِي خَيْرَ الْبَقَاء‬
and decide for me to die in the ‫وَأَفْنِنِي خَيْرَ الْفَنَاءِ َعلَى‬
best manner of death keeping
loyal to Your representatives, ،َ‫ُموَاالةِ أَوْلِيَائِك‬
and incurring the enmity of Your

enemies,
َ‫َو ُمعَادَاةِ أَعْدَائِك‬
and keeping desiring for You and ِ‫ وَالرَّهْ َبة‬،َ‫وَالرَّغْ َبةِ إلَيْك‬
fearing from You,
،َ‫مِنْك‬
and submission, faithfulness, and
ِ‫سلِيم‬
ْ َّ‫وَالْخُشُوعِ وَالْوَفَاءِ وَالت‬
compliance with You,
،َ‫لَك‬
and keeping belief in Your Book ،َ‫وَالتَّصْدِيقِ بِكِتَابِك‬
and following Your Prophet’s
instructions.
.َ‫وَاتِّبَاعِ سُنَّةِ َرسُولِك‬
O Allah: as for whatever I bear
in my heart,
‫اللّهُمَّ مَا كَانَ فِي َقلْبِي‬
including suspicion or doubt ٍ‫ِمنْ شَكٍّ أَوْ رِي َبة‬
or denial or despair ٍ‫أَوْ جُحُودٍ أَوْ قُنُوط‬
or (excessive) joy or lavish
expenditure or recklessness
ٍ‫ذخٍ أَوْ بَطَر‬
َ َ‫أَوْ فَ َرحٍ أَوْ ب‬
or pride or arrogance or
ostentation
ٍ‫أَوْ خُيَالءَ أَوْ رِيَاءٍ أَوْ سُ ْمعَة‬
or discord or hypocrisy ٍ‫أَوْ شِقَاقٍ أَوْ نِفَاق‬
or unbelief or licentiousness or
disobedience
ٍ‫أَوْ كُفْرٍ أَوْ فُسُوقٍ أَوْ عِصْيَان‬
or conceit or anything else that
You do not like;
،ُّ‫أَوْ عَظَ َمةٍ أَوْ شَيْءٍ ال تُحِب‬
I thus beseech You, O my Lord, ‫فَ َأسْأَلُكَ يَا رَبِّ أَنْ تُبَدِّلَنِي‬
to substitute all that with belief
in Your promise ،َ‫مَكَاَنهُ إيمَاناً ِبوَعْدِك‬
and fulfilling of my covenant to
You
،َ‫وَوَفَاءً ِبعَهْدِك‬
and satisfaction with what You
decide for me
،َ‫َورِضاً بِقَضَائِك‬
and indifference to the worldly
pleasures
،‫َوزُهْداً فِي الدُّنْيَا‬
and desire for that which You
have
،َ‫َورَغْ َبةً فِيمَا عِنْدَك‬
and altruism and tranquility and

ً‫وَأَثَرَةً وَطُمَ ْأنِي َنةً وََت ْوَبة‬
sincere repentance;
،ً‫نَصُوحا‬
I beseech You for all that, O the
Lord of the worlds.
.َ‫َأسْأَلُكَ ذلِكَ يَا رَبَّ اْلعَالَمِين‬
O my God: because You are so ‫حلْمِكَ ُتعْصَى‬
ِ ْ‫إلهِي َأنْتَ ِمن‬
forbearing, You are disobeyed as
if You are not present, ،َ‫فَكَأَنَّكَ لَمْ تُر‬
and because You are so generous
and magnanimous, You are
ُ‫َو ِمنْ كَ َرمِكَ وَجُودِكَ تُطَاع‬
obeyed as if You have not been
disobeyed at all
،َ‫فَكَأَنَّكَ لَمْ تُعْص‬
Both those who have not ُ‫وََأنَا َو َمنْ لَمْ َيعْصِكَ سُكَّان‬
disobeyed You and I are the
inhabitants of Your lands; َ‫َأرْضِك‬
So, (please) confer
magnanimously upon us with ،ً‫جوَادا‬
َ ِ‫كنْ َعلَيْنَا بِالْفَضْل‬
ُ َ‫ف‬
Your favors
and always refer to us with Your
goodness
،ً‫َوبِالْخَيْرِ عَوَّادا‬
who show mercy.
May Allah bless Mu¦ammad and ِ‫وَصَلَّى ال ّلهُ َعلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآِله‬
his Household with endless
blessings ً‫صَالةً دَائِ َمة‬
that are innumerable, ُ‫در‬
ِ ْ‫ال تُحْصَى وَال ُتعَدُّ وَال يَق‬
uncountable, and none can do it
save You, َ‫درَهَا غَيْرُك‬
ْ َ‫ق‬
who show mercy.
.َ‫يَا َأرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِين‬
Ziyarah of Imam Ali Zayn ul Abideen
Peace be on you, O leader of Those who

unhappiness and sadness!

on spots which Touched during sijda!
Peace be on you, O one who Wept and ‫السالم عليك يا صاحب العبرات‬
mourned!
Peace be on you, one who was Captive of ‫السالم عليك يا أسير الكربات‬
hardships!
Peace be on you, O one from The great

O He Who is too close to ِ‫يَا قَرِيباً ال يَبْعُدُ َعن‬

O my God: grant me, among ِ‫إلهِي أَقِمْنِي فِي أَهْل‬

O my God: I adjure You by َّ‫إلهِي بِكَ َعلَيْكَ إال‬

O my God: (please) grant me َ‫إلهِي هَبْ لي كَمَال‬
