1. Introduction of Tourism

Tourism is travel for pleasure or business; also the theory and practice of touring, the
business of attracting, accommodating, and entertaining tourists, and the business of
operating tourism Tourism may be international, or within the traveller's country.
The World Tourism Organization defines tourism more generally, in terms which go
"beyond the common perception of tourism as being limited to holiday activity only",
as people "traveling to and staying in places outside their usual environment for not
more than one consecutive year for leisure and not less than 24 hours, business and
other purposes".

Tourism can be domestic or international, and international tourism has both incoming
and outgoing implications on a country's balance of payments.

Tourism suffered as a result of a strong economic slowdown of the late-2000s

recession, between the second half of 2008 and the end of 2009, and the outbreak of
the H1N1 influenza virus, but slowly recovered. International tourism receipts (the
travel item in the balance of payments) grew to US$1.03 trillion (€740 billion) in
2005, corresponding to an increase in real terms of 3.8% from 2010 International
tourist arrivals surpassed the milestone of 1 billion tourists globally for the first time in
2012, emerging markets such as China, Russia, and Brazil had significantly increased
their spending over the previous decade. The ITB Berlin is the world's leading
tourism trade fair. Global tourism accounts for ca. 8% of global greenhouse
gas emissions

In 1936, the League of Nations defined a foreign tourist as "someone traveling abroad for at
least twenty-four hours". Its successor, the United Nations, amended this definition in 1945, by
including a maximum stay of six months.

In 1941, Hunziker and Kraft defined tourism as "the sum of the phenomena and relationships
arising from the travel and stay of non-residents, insofar as they do not lead to permanent
residence and are not connected with any earning activity." In 1976, the Tourism Society of
England's definition was: "Tourism is the temporary, short-term movement of people
to destinations outside the places where they normally live and work and their activities during the
stay at each destination. It includes movements for all purposes." In 1981, the International
Association of Scientific Experts in Tourism defined tourism in terms of particular activities
chosen and undertaken outside the home.

In 1994, the United Nations identified three forms of tourism in its Recommendations on Tourism
Statistics:

 Domestic tourism, involving residents of the given country traveling only within this
country
 Inbound tourism, involving non-residents traveling in the given country
 Outbound tourism, involving residents traveling in another country

The terms tourism and travel are sometimes used interchangeably. In this context, travel has
a similar definition to tourism, but implies a more purposeful journey. The
terms tourism and tourist are sometimes used pejoratively, to imply a shallow interest in the
cultures or locations visited. By contrast, traveler is often used as a sign of distinction. The
sociology of tourism has studied the cultural values underpinning these distinctions and their
implications for class relations.
2. Tourism in Asia
Asia is Earth's largest and most populous continent, located primarily in
the Eastern and Northern Hemispheres. It shares the continental landmass of Eurasia with
the continent of Europe and the continental landmass of Afro-Eurasia with both Europe
and Africa. Asia covers an area of 44,579,000 square kilometers (17,212,000 sq mi), about
30% of Earth's total land area and 8.7% of the Earth's total surface area. The continent,
which has long been home to the majority of the human population, was the site of many of
the first civilizations. Asia is notable for not only its overall large size and population, but
also dense and large settlements, as well as vast barely populated regions. Its 4.5 billion
people (as of September 2018) constitute roughly 60% of the world's population.

China and India alternated in being the largest economies in the world from 1 to 1800 CE.
China was a major economic power and attracted many to the east, and for many the
legendary wealth and prosperity of the ancient culture of India personified Asia, attracting
European commerce, exploration and colonialism. The accidental discovery of a trans-
Atlantic route from Europe to America by Columbus while in search for a route to India
demonstrates this deep fascination. The Silk Road became the main east–west trading route
in the Asian hinterlands while the Straits of Malacca stood as a major sea route. Asia has
exhibited economic dynamism (particularly East Asia) as well as robust population growth
during the 20th century, but overall population growth has since fallen. Asia was the
birthplace of most of the world's mainstream religions
including Hinduism, Zoroastrianism, Judaism, Jainism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Taoism,
Christianity, Islam, Sikhism, as well as many other religions.

4. Thailand
A. Introduction of Thailand:-

officially the Kingdom of Thailand and formerly known as Siam(Thai: สยาม), is a country at the
centre of the Southeast Asian Indochinese peninsula composed of 76 provinces. At
513,120 km2(198,120 sq mi) and over 68 million people, Thailand is the world's 50th largest
country by total area and the 21st-most-populous country. The capital and largest city is Bangkok,
a special administrative area. Thailand is bordered to the north by Myanmar and Laos, to the east
by Laos and Cambodia, to the south by the Gulf of Thailand and Malaysia, and to the west by
the Andaman Sea and the southern extremity of Myanmar. Its maritime boundaries
include Vietnam in the Gulf of Thailand to the southeast, and Indonesia and India on the Andaman
Sea to the southwest. Although nominally a constitutional monarchy and parliamentary
democracy, the most recent coup in 2014 established a de facto military dictatorship.

Tai peoples migrated from southwestern China to mainland Southeast Asia from the 11th century;
the oldest known mention of their presence in the region by the eponym Siamese dates to the 12th
century. Various Indianised kingdoms such as the Mon, the Khmer Empire and Malay states ruled
the region, competing with Thai states such as Ngoenyang, the Sukhothai Kingdom, Lan Naand
the Ayutthaya Kingdom, which rivaled each other. European contact began in 1511 with a
Portuguese diplomatic mission to Ayutthaya, one of the great powers in the region. Ayutthaya
reached its peak during cosmopolitan Narai's reign (1656–88), gradually declining thereafter until
being ultimately destroyed in 1767 in a war with Burma. Taksin (r. 1767–82) quickly reunified the
fragmented territory and established the short-lived Thonburi Kingdom. He was succeeded in 1782
by Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke (r. 1782–1809), the first monarch of the Chakri dynasty and founder
of the Rattanakosin Kingdom, which lasted into the early 20th century.
B. Capital:-
Bangkok, Thai KrungThep, city, capital, and chief port of Thailand. It is the
only cosmopolitan city in a country of small towns and villages and is Thailand’s cultural and
commercial centre.

Bangkok is located on the delta of the Chao Phraya River, about 25 miles (40 km) from the Gulf of
Thailand. It was formerly divided into two municipalities—Krung Thep on the east bank and Thon
Buri on the west—connected by several bridges. In 1971 the two were united as a city-province
with a single municipal government. In 1972 the city and the two surrounding provinces were
merged into one province, called Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok Metropolis). The
metropolis is a bustling, crowded city, with temples, factories, shops, and homes juxtaposed along
its roads and canals. It is also a major tourist destination, noted for bountiful cultural attractions
and a nightlife that includes a flourishing sex trade.
C. Thailand Money:-

Money, currency of Thailand. The monetary unit of Thailand is the baht (THB)

D. Thailand Flag:-

F. Thailand Religion:-

Excluding the law that states the King must be Buddhist, there is no official Thailand religion,
meaning all Thai people enjoy religious freedom. However, Buddhism is the most common
Thailand religion with approximately 93% of the population following this Theravada religion.

5. Tourism in Thailand:-

A. Introduction:-
Tourism is a major economic contributor to the Kingdom of Thailand. Estimates of tourism
revenue directly contributing to the Thai GDP of 12 trillion baht range from one trillion baht
(2013) 2.53 trillion baht (2016), the equivalent of 9 per cent to 17.7 per cent of GDP. When
including indirect travel and tourism receipts, the 2014 total is estimated to be the equivalent of
19.3 percent (2.3 trillion baht) of Thailand's GDP.[3]:1 The actual contribution of tourism to GDP is
lower than these percentages because GDP is measured in value added not revenue. The valued
added of the Thailand's tourism industry is not known (value added is revenue less purchases of
inputs).

Tourism worldwide in 2017 accounted for 10.4 percent of global GDP and 313 million jobs, or 9.9
percent of total employment.[4]:1 Most governments view tourism as an easy moneymaker and a
shortcut to economic development. Tourism success is measured by the number of visitors; the
more, the better.[5]

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) uses the slogan "Amazing Thailand" to promote
Thailand internationally. In 2015, this was supplemented by a "Discover Thainess" campaign.[6]
