SYNOPSIS:

FACTS- Flexible alternating current transmission system is a static equipment used for the AC
transmission of electrical energy. It is meant to enhance controllability and increase
power transfer capability. It is generally power electronics based device.

Extra-high-voltage (EHV)-transmission is defined as between 365kV and 1000kV for AC.EHV

lines are used to move large amounts of power across long distances. The higher the voltage,
the lower the losses. In addition, by being able to move more power across one line, fewer
overall lines are needed for transmission.

Before facts devices we use mechanical switching but its desire response is not effective
and also very slow response, for reduce this system we use facts devices which is a power
electronic device, that is more effective than mechanical switching and have fast response.
