1. Project/Idea Summary
(a) The method or technique that I used

We can make a LED, which can be installed on a red light and charged by solar energy. That LED can be IoT
enabled that is the Internet of Things. When the ambulance driver is taking that route, then he/she can turn on
those lights. The LED will notify the people immediately. It would be much better if an alarm beeps as enough
space can be made.
(b) The question or problem that I investigated, and my hypothesis or predicted outcome is as follows
Every time I see ambulances stuck in traffic one question hovers around my mind “How can we help ambulance
drivers in saving lives?” Surely, we can do something as it is the need of the hour! Yes, I have the solution. The
Wi-Fi LED for Ambulance is the desired solution. We can aware the people on traffic lights or any other place
before the ambulances come so that enough space could be made for that life-saving vehicle giving a second
chance to patients to survive.
From where I will arrange for electricity?
We will get the electricity from the power source from which the traffic lights are powered. If a light is to be
installed at any other place then arrangements need to be made. Solar Power can also be used as an
alternative.
How much does it take?
The equipment needed is available at a very cheap rate, it is very cost effective.

1. STRUCTURE: The module is connected with LED and alarm buzzer. It is a compact model.

1
2. PLACES: It can be constructed on any terrain on any red light. The areas with high density of
population can be benefitted by this technology.

3. SAILENT FEATURES: It will be an IoT powered device. Solar panels can be attached at its top
to get electricity, which can be used to turn on light and make the alarm beep. The device
will have a solar panel at its top.

4. COST EFFECTIVENESS: The equipment needed is available at a very cheap rate, it is very cost
effective.

2. Project / Idea Description

(a) How this project will support the theme & help in solving the practical problem related to the theme?

Since the theme selected is ‘Smart City’, I have taken the sub-theme as Smart Traffic Management Systems. The
idea is to reduce the traffic and provide a system to manage the traffic. You may have often seen that
ambulance are stuck in traffic. The set-up uses advanced and sophisticated mechanism which leads to
formation of base for a smart city! It will help the society in order to enable us to impart an early warning
system which is only possible in a ‘Smart City’.

What is happening locally, nationally and globally?

These days, people have
adopted a very careless Emergency Patient Deaths
approach while driving, that
they even don’t pay heed to the
ambulance drivers honking but
they don’t even to care them to 20%
give them a passage to move.
This poses a real problem for
ambulance drivers. We do not
even think that this habit may
bring a life to end. The issue is
80%
not limited to a particular area
but the whole world is facing
the consequences for the same.
Many of lives are lost but still Deaths due to other causes Deaths due to Delays
no avail! From the graph, it is
seen that 20% of emergency patient deaths are caused due to ambulance delays. Go to these URLs for more
information about the issue I want to address

(b) Type of People it has been designed for—
This device has been designed for common people and ERV drivers.
(c) How it will be beneficial for them?

“We live in such an era where pizza delivers faster than an ambulance.” People will have a sigh of relief as they
would not get anxious because of the time lapse as there is enough anxiety due to their loved ones being
serious.
(d) What are the needs of the audiences I am addressing to?

The stress level of ERV drivers is at such a level that we cannot even think about it. If we are able to install this
Wi-Fi LED for ERV at every traffic light, then I am sure that no life will be lost; just because of the time gap
required to reach the hospital. In such a time of anxiety, it is the need of the hour to have such a mechanism or
system which helps them to reduce their stress and make their work a bit easier. On the people’s part, this
mechanism may bring a relief to them as it reduces the anxiety and gives them a hope to survive!
(e) Initial Designs / Sketches (This is only for representation purpose, actual prototype will vary)

(f) Will it have any global application - Who can collaborate with me and make this project a reality?
If the Government of India and Big tech giants can collaborate with me and I can make this project a reality.
This project is initiated to save lives and I would like everybody to help me to implement it and make it more
advanced and precise so that no time is wasted for giving treatments to the emergency patients. The idea will
not only work for ambulances but for any other ERV, which needs to rush to the place quickly.

I would request the Government of India to take a step forward and take this project to another level because
ERVs really face problems while reaching the place.

3. Methodology
(a) How I will connect it to real world?
 As soon as the driver will come on the route, the driver will send a request to turn on the LED from the
mobile app, which will be connected with Internet.
 The data will be transferred through IoT (Internet of Things).
 The module will receive the request and hence, the module will turn on the LED and the alarm will start.
This system will not give only 67 seconds but much more than that as per the requirement of the driver
and the time to reach that place.
 The right lane will be marked as the Emergency lane. When the LED would turn on, all he cars will shift
to left lane and would leave the space for ambulance to move.

(b) Methods I am using to connect it to world - Execution of the predicted idea

 Internet of Things
 LED
 Alarm
 Mobile application
 Microcontroller
At first, awareness needs to be created about its usage and practical application. People should be aware of the
basic traffic rules. Many of us don’t know what a shoulder is. We need to make people aware about the
shoulder and why we should leave the shoulder when an ERV is approaching. For all this awareness, campaigns
can be launched. The best medium is Social Media. It can be used for its advantages and proves to be a boon
here!
(c) What inventions already exist in the field?

A student of Australia made a device, which was good but not possible in today’s scenario. That device is
installed in the car’s dashboard. As soon as an ambulance would come near the vehicle that device would
inform the driver and give 67 seconds to the driver to vacant that space for ambulance. Unfortunately, today
when we have millions of vehicles being driven on the road, this device would take time to be installed and we
do not have that much time to lose more lives!

Why I chose to investigate this particular aspect of science or engineering?

I chose to investigate this particular aspect of science and engineering because I personally have a lot of
interest in Robotics and Coding. These two are very developed and are improvising day by day. These aspects of
science and engineering will not only solve our day-to-day problems but save our lives as well.
