Field Work Experience

As we walk our way to our assigned Heritage House, the sun kept producing heat to our skin. That’s
when we realized, why didn’t we bring umbrella in the first place. But it’s okay, now at least the view
is wide without the umbrella. We’ve seen numerous houses, that can pass as a heritage house. I didn’t
knew that Batangas is indeed a place where there are many heritage structures in it.

We passed the market because it’s along the way to our assigned house. It was crowded with buyers
and sellers. What I notice is that they sell tons of dried fish even in the side of the road. Inviting to dried
fish lovers like me, sadly I forgot to buy some before leaving Batangas.

When we arrived at the mansion, the first thing that made it noticeable is its color. It was painted
orange and the color made it visible from the rows of trees that are surrounding it. Orange to me
symbolizes energy, but as I see the whole of the house its energy was little by little vanishing. Still a
beautiful house and the cracks just tell us the story of its experiences during its existence.

We entered the house using the back door. The passageway is in the side of the house. When we arrived
at the back area of the house, we saw the laundry area with cr and the drying area. Very well planned,
because the orientation of the sun pass thru this area clothes can easily dry up. When we entered the
back door of the house, I can’t stop staring at the ceiling. A wooden carved flower was located in it.
Made me assume that the owners wife likes flowers.

The feel inside the house is refreshing even it’s noon that time we can feel the presence of fresh air.
Some of my groupmates took their laser meter and began measuring the house while I’m assigned to
take pictures of the parts of the house. We also played with the daughter of kuya rico while doing our
tasks. It was challenging because I like to take meaningful pictures.

Something that is magazine worthy. Every angles and feature of the house is magazine worthy its just
that we wanted to make it more appealing and interactive when we include it in the magazine and
presentation. After taking pictures of the house, we interviewed the people within the 5km radius from
the house. And we are very thankful that they are very welcoming and approachable. The local people
there possess the characteristics of a true filipino, one of the best things that I discovered even I’m
filipino too I’m new in Batangas.

This made us finish our interview with a smile and appreciate more the people in Batangas.
