he sun had gone down. And the twilight had turned into the night, yet

she still sat on her arm-chair before the window while staring at the outside of the room,

race about gazing the birds which is singing a song-bird. But I had no idea of why she

was very mesmerized to hear the birdling, as if she is hearing the good song with sweet

melody in tune. So enchanted she is, till she‟s been spending too much time staring out

of the window. To understand of such things like what she was feeling and what she

was thought even her behavior is as to tried to connect the dots with no answer

provided, or just like getting over with the unsolved formulas. Since we were in Senior

High School in grade X, indeed she was like to be one with the nature, even her obsess

is to be a well-known photographer. Her feeling of love towards the nature built her

imagination up flew far away out of the horizon.

It was a terrible night, the wind was blew very high, so high it was till it could

rock, broke the branches of the tree in pieces. The leaves flied about everywhere,

covered the city streets. Ain‟t realized how the time flies. The night had turned into the

dark. Even the birds had left the branches of the tree to come back to their nests. The
soft breeze swept her smooth cheeks up. Ainun‟s daydream suddenly disappeared by a

creak of the door, and made her realized that the night was too late and had to off to

bed.

I noticed her day by day just looks like a girl who lost her spirit, moody

teenager. I didn‟t know why she behaved like that. What was exactly had come into

her mind. But it was become clear to me that I saw the dark color under the two of her

eyes. It was obvious indicated that she hasn‟t slept yet up all night. “What was exactly

bothering her mind?”, asked me myself inside. “Where is my old best friend?” I didn‟t

recognise her no more. “Where is a cheerful and highly motivated girl?”

Remembered the first time when I was shook her hands and made an

acquaintance with her. It never crossed my mind at all that I would be very closed with

her. A teenager girl who had become on everyone‟s lips in almost all of the schools

because of her achievement in won the National photographer competition among High

Schools. Her skill in photography indeed undoubted. It was proven by her succeess in

made the efforts of one of parents for taking bribe the teacher to ease their son to enroll

to our school in vain not long after she transferred to our school with her clear and

accurate photograph.

Not only had a good skill in photography, but she also clever at academic

subjects in the school, especially on Physics. She belong to one of the bright students in

the class that always has brilliant and bright ideas towards science. Every time the

teacher gave us explanation about the subject, she was very enthusiastic and be all ears

with that. No wonder that she always hold the first rank in the class. Besides, she has an

excellent competence on playing some musical instruments such as violin and guitar.
Remarkably, she‟s also very knowledgable about computer science. That‟s why we

called her a computer whizz.

Her outstanding achievement that is when she was succeeded in participating an

international competition photographer for teenagers at the last three years. Her

beautiful art of pictures that taken the environment and visualisation of “A Bitter Fact of

the Streets Children‟s Life” as the theme of her photograph had made our schools‟ name

and herself were caught on. The article that she had written with exactly the same title

also appeared as one of the best writing on “KOMPAS” magazine in 2010. Even though

she has accepted a lot of awards and chalices from that, but she is just her, Ainun. All of

those things couldn‟t changed her way. She just seems exactly the same as I knew

before, modest and like to help people who was in trouble.

Till one day, a great deal of misfortune struck her life, things that no one would

want to and able to cope with. She and her younger brother had to force themselves to

stand in that bad situation. Their parents officially divorced coincide with her 17th

birthday. By no means of made her lovely daughter happy in her sweet 17th birthday,

conversely they conducted as if they didn‟t care „bout her. It was supposed to be a

happiest day for her, but in actual fact she‟s not. Indeed, sometimes it‟s hard to separate

fact from fiction. If I was her, I couldn‟t ever understand what did they want. “how

could they do that?”, I can‟t imagined if I was in her position in that time, may be I will

run away from home, and will hate them forever. But she didn‟t do that. I hardly ever

heard her sighed or complained about something or about her circumstances even when

I was still getting along with her. She is the best friend that I ever had.

Since that day two of them lived apart from each other. She lived with her

mother, whereas her younger brother had to be taken by her father. A quarrel between a
married couple are considered as only human nature, but Ainun‟s parents are the

exception. Their family life appears to have been uniformly happy one. Ainun, to whom

I owe most of the others and who is their own daughter, assured me that she had never

heard of any misunderstanding between the pair. All was fine before the rumor was

spread, a rumor about her father who had been married another woman and had a

daughter from that marriage. That rumor eventually reached the ears of her mother.

How mad was she when she found out her husband‟s affair. It was the first time that

Ainun heard the voices of her parents in furious altercation. Their constant arguments

were putting a strain on their marriage. Consequently, a couple of months later they

considered to got divorced.

Initially, it‟s hard for Ainun to accept the truth that her father was having an

affair before eventually she saw him getting along with another woman by her own eyes

and head when she was taking a walked for hunting photos or looking for interesting

things whether it‟s people or place as her object of photograph. It might be her nature to

be a wonderful photographer that she always succeeded in caught pictures of important

events, controversial and even creates amazement upon her masterpiece of photograph

for someone who had seen it. But it‟s not for this time, instead of taking picture of an

outstanding object, she accidentally caught picture of her father with the woman that

had just been out of a small boutique. Something that broke her heart, hurt her feeling

even filled her with flame over him that saw her father with another woman by her own

eyes and head, moreover, she caught pictures of them by using her lovely camera.

Afterwards since that time whatever the reason, she didn‟t want to photograph

again. “How do I convince her that the reality of her parents got divorced is not her fault

at all, and how do I make her realize and change her mind to reach her ambition as she
should.” But deep down inside she knew that there will always be a friend beside her. A

friend who will by her side no matter the circumstances is, whether she was sad or

happy. Someone that she can count on, cares, and will be the one who lit up her way

when there‟s no light at all. Someone who will be a compass that shows her the

direction when she didn‟t know which way to go. Someone who will calm her down

when she‟s about to cry. Someone who will always by her side and inspire her when

there‟s no hope is rested. Someone who will accompany her when she felt alone. And

then made her realize and believe in a gift of a friend.
