Anchor: Welcome to critic’s corner!

Anchor 2: Today we will be discussing the

film ​A Bridge Too Far

Anchor 1: ​A Bridge Too Far​ is a film directed

by Richard Attenborough, set in 1944, and
produced in 1977.

Camera 3 Anchor 2: This film follows the failure of

Operation Market Garden, an operation led by
the British Army and the Americans.

Camera 1 Anchor 1: Allied Forces attempted to take

over nine bridges that could have been an
Allied invasion route into Germany.

Camera 3 Anchor 2: Even though the United States and

Allies won WW2, they still faced failures and
hardships.

Camera 2 Anchor 1: The United States attempted

Operation Market Garden to assist them in
getting into Germany and help them win the
war earlier than they did. This ultimately did
not end up happening and the Allies were not
able to acquire these bridges.

Anchor 2: Throughout the film there are

Camera 3 many violent fighting scenes and many
 people die. This demonstrates how gruesome
and violent war can be.

Anchor 1: In this clip it shows a surprise raid

Camera 1 where there was a lot of violence. Including
tank explosions, rapid gunfire, and firy
disaster.

Anchor 2: This shows how destructive WW2

Camera 3 was and how dangerous it was for the
courageous people fighting in it.

Anchor 1: The film also shows how during

Operation Market Garden the Allied Forces
underestimated the battle and the Germans.

Camera 2 Anchor 2: Allied forces did not take warnings

from the Dutch Resistance regarding the
Germans, amd how long it would take for
them to obtain the bridge.

Anchor 1: This clip shows an army official

Camera 1 not taking another soldiers words seriously as
he shows him a picture of German tanks.

Anchor 2: The man ignores the pictures,

Camera 3 finding them unimportant.

Anchor 1: ​A Bridge Too Far ​demonstrates
how violent the war truly was, and how the
Allied Forces underestimated the German’s
will and strength.
