Instructions to Set-up and Use PhilAm Vitality Apps

I. Starting up

1.1. On Google Play Store or Apple App Store, download Philam Vitality and Philam Vitality Active
(Vitality Weekly) applications.

1.2. Also, download any of the following tracking applications or devices:

Fitbit, Garmin Device, Misfit Wearables, Polar Device, RunKeeper, S Health, Strava

1.3. Log-in to both applications, Philam Vitality & Vitality Weekly, using your Philam username and
password. Note that user name and password was provided upon registration of Philam main policy
E-Plan. Username is in this format: [First Letter of first name][Middle initial][Last Name][date of
birth in MMDDYY format] Sample user name: LBCORREADDMMYY

Note: Best to keep the log-in status on both apps.


II. Linking Philam Vitality Application to a Fitness App

Once logged in on Philam Vitality Application, link the app on a fitness app or device.

Note: if logging in for the first time, an automatic pop-up will show to link in fitness app or device (step
2.2.).

2.1. On home page, click on Fitness device and apps

2.2. On Link Device or Apps screen, select a particular fitness device application to link. For this example,
we will use S Health.
2.3. A pop-up will show and click connect.

2.4. On the next pop-up, select to turn on connection with device. Turn on also steps and exercise to
make sure connection will be successful. Click done once all “switches” are turned on.

III. Exploring ways to Earn Points

3.1. On home page, click on How to earn more points.


3.2. There are various ways to earn points. Check on each item to learn individual mechanics. Some
would require answering online assessment questionnaires, others would require physical exams
and fitness tests. One option is to earn points by daily step count or exercise activity, which we will
discuss further on the following sections.

IV. Earning points through daily activities

We can earn 50 or 100 points based on the completed physical activity that we do every day. Note that
once point is earned on one activity per day, it will not be awarded to others. For this illustration, we will
use S Health as our fitness app.

4.1. Daily step count – S Health automatically register step count. 50 points is earned if 7,500 steps are
made while 100 point is earned if 12,500 points are earned.
Note: Daily step target can be adjusted on S Health Step Options.
4.2. Track work-outs – you can track your work-out (cross fit, weight lifting, etc.) and sports (basketball,
swimming, running) using S Health. To add Exercise on S Health Home Screen:

a. On the bottom of S Health home page, click on manage items.

b. Search for and turn on Exercise option on Manage Item Screen:

c. Exercise Option will be available on Home Page. Click this option, select a particular exercise and
start tracking.
4.3. Enter work-outs – another way of registering work out is by manually adding them. Go to Exercise
screen (shown on section 4.2.) and follow these steps:

a. Click on Enter Data.

b. Enter exercise details such as time, duration, intensity, etc. and click save.
V. Refreshing points in Vitality App

Vitality app will automatically sync with S Health to record activities and award points. Automatic
syncing usually happens every midnight. There are times that auto sync fails, thus follow the below
instruction for manual sync.

Note: Best practice to manually sync every 3 days, if possible daily, to refresh points real-time.

5.1. Go to Home Page of Vitality app and click on Fitness device and apps.

5.2. Click on linked fitness app or device, in this case S Health. On S Health screen, click on Manually
Sync. Screen will refresh.
Note: You may this step several times to ensure that activities are retrieved from the fitness device.
5.3. Return to Home Screen and click on Points statement. You will notice new activities will be listed
with 0 corresponding points.

5.4. Click on Refresh until points are awarded to the activity. Note that you may need to click refresh
several times until points are updated.
Note: If you have accomplished more than 1 activity (ex: physical activity and steps) on the same
day, only one activity (the higher point activity) will be awarded with a point.

Also, if the expected activity still does not appear on the Points Statement screen, you may have to
repeat the manual sync step (step 5.2.).

VI. Weekly Rewards

6.1. Go to Vitality Weekly app Home Page to view weekly points and target. Once points have been
refreshed on Vitality app, it will be reflected on Vitality weekly app as well.
6.2. Once the weekly target is achieved, an automatic prompt will appear to inform you and ask allow
you to select your weekly reward.
Note: You don’t need to wait for the week to end to claim the reward. Once the target is achieved in
any day of the week, reward will be awarded the same day.

6.3. Select a particular reward. Particular instructions will be given on how to claim or avail the reward.
