Course : Basic English Grammar

A. Course Description
In this course, students are introduced to all the main areas of basic English grammar
such as noun, pronouns, verb, tenses, sentence structures, passive voice, conditionals,
modals, etc. It also provides students with knowledge on and ability in using grammar
to communicate. Furthermore, students will develop a practical understanding of the
basic English grammar through lecture, class discussion, the working out of
grammatical problems, and writing sentences.

B. Learning Outcomes
At the end of the semester, students are able to:
1. Identify the basics of English grammar;
2. Use their knowledge of basic English grammar to communicate in both written and
spoken; and
3. Employ their knowledge of basic English grammar to analyze grammatical problems
in the sentences.

C. Learning Activities
Lecturing, classroom discussions, and task/exercise execution.

E. Assessment
Students will get their final score from the followings:

Final Score = p + q + (r x 2) + (s x 3)

≤ 49 =E

Students are required to attend at least 85% of the lectures in order to be eligible for the
final results.

ASSIGNMENTS

A. Objectives
By doing the assignments, students are expected to be able to:
1. Employ their knowledge of basic English grammar in filling out and analyzing grammatical problems in the exercises related to the
topics of each session.
2. Make a poster of basic English grammar materials as a teaching and learning aid.

B. Description
In this course, the assignments are divided into two: weekly assignments and final assignment.
1. Weekly assignment
Focus area : Weekly materials.
Instruction : It is a group assignment. Each group is asked to do all of the exercises available in the source book every week. The
assignment should be written in the folio paper and collected every week before the session begins.
Product : Exercises answers written in the folio paper

2. Final assignment
Focus area : Basic English grammar materials.
Instruction : It is a group assignment. Each group is asked to make a poster of basic English grammar materials for the teaching and
learning aids. The group has to focus on one material. The poster should contain theories, examples, and illustration. The
assignment should be collected in the last session of this semester/ week 15.

C. Scoring Criteria
1. Weekly assignment
The score of correct answer is 1 point. Students’ score is from the accumulation of the correct answers.

2. Final assignment
The poster contains theories of basic English grammar and examples.
