model for runoff flow. The results show that mesh selection is of great importance, since it may affect the
results in a magnitude as large as physical factors, such as friction. Furthermore, results proved to be less
sensitive to roughness spatial distribution than to mesh properties. Finally, the results indicate that SCS-
CN may not be suitable for simulating hydrological processes together with a shallow-water model.

face storage is practically equal regardless of friction, which indi-
cates that at such time the surface water is moving very slow or
is static.
By comparing FA results against FM results, very little, if any,
differences are found. This is reasonable since roughness distribu-
tion is concentrated around the average roughness value of 0.0579
with most (around 70%) raster roughness values being 0.05 or 0.06.
In cases of wider distributions it would be reasonable to observe
greater differences between the average roughness and the distrib-
uted roughness cases. Oscillations appear in the hydrograph, with
very high frequency but very small amplitude with respect to local
hydrograph values, although it should be noted that oscillations
