What is the correlation between mean coincident wet bulb

(MCWB) and dry bulb temperature (DB) for the annual

occurrence frequency of 99%?

We are trying to bundle the weather data of different cities.

In this view, i need your help in one regards if you could

tell me the correlation between mean coincident wet bulb

temperature (MCWB) and dry bulb temperature (DB) for

the annual occurrence frequency of 99%, please

How does one convert absolute humidity

expressed in g/kg to g/m^3?

Question 5 answers

Asked 1st Jan, 2015

Ramiz Ahmad Qudsi

I am working some data and one of the step

involved in the processing requires me convert

Absolute Humidity into Relative Humidity. Now, I

have a few equations which can do the job for

me, the problem though is that my absolute

humidity is in the units of g/kg where as every

equation is applicable for g/m^3 or g/ml. I know I

can't use the direct conversion factor of 100

since that will give absurd result. Right now my

absolute humidity is such that when I apply the

equations to them my relative humidity has

range of 0 to 350, which of course is

nonsensical.

Any suggestions?

The equation I am using for the conversion can

A dry bulb (DB) thermometer will measure the ambient air

temperature. A wet bulb thermometer will measure the

temperature of the air which gets to be saturated with

water vapor. There are two relations:

(1) Because the air loses heat to vaporize the water in the
cloth of the wet bulb, the wet bulb is cooler than the dry

bulb.

(2) The difference between DB and WB, (I mean, DB -

WB) is approximately proportional to the (100% - RH).

Here, RH stands for "relative humidity" (in %). So, the

(DB-WB) in a shinny day is big, because the RH is low.

On the other end, the rainy day the (DB-WB) is small.

These two relations are always true (100%) unless the

measurement is not done properly.

Dear Sir, Thanks for the information.

But the thing is that how one should calculate the mean

coincident wet bulb temperature for the outdoor weather

With higher RH say above 98% the WB & DB

temperatures are almost equal and this occurs in rainy

days with maximum and minimum temperature difference

of the day less than 40 C.

In the span of last two years, I have been

fortunate to review over100s of manuscripts

submitted in the Journals of Photonics,

Magnetics / Magneto-optics, Applied Physics,

Material Science, etc. It's almost impossible to

find a single manuscript where I can recommend

"Accept as is". Many papers are so badly written

that they deserve to be rejected. However, I do

not like to reject papers. That means, I do not

look at the text only but I focus more on the

significance of the results presented.

Partly, the problem starts right from the

undergraduate study and failure to train students

how to write concise papers. So, what to

investigate in the submitted manuscripts then?

Succinctness? A manuscript I was reviewing

lately had over 200 words-long abstract, 400-

words long introduction section and 450 wordslong

conclusion section. Is this structure (A200-

I400-Body-C450) weird / abnormal, especially

the length of the conclusion section?
