Risk Information Sheet

Risk ID: APS-1 Date:1/4/19 Prob:35% Impact:low

Description:Servers are one of most powerful pieces of equipment in the office, but that
does mean they are the toughest.Servers respond to the user requests. Any issue leading to
functioning of the server would lead to the entire system crash.

Refinement/Context:
1.Power failure is a common phenomenon that is observable in most organizations.
2. A server can go down due to some hardware failure.
3. Resource exhaustion, computational or logic error, system overload, database corruption
lead to application crash at the server end.
4. DOS attacks may also lead to the entire system to stop functioning.
5. When the heavy traffic turns to overhead for the server, the server stops responding.

Mitigation/monitoring:
1.Check or test for server capacity.
2.Keep additional servers in ready to use state.

Management/contingency plan/Trigger:
1. The lack of a stable-computing environment is extremely hazardous to a software
development team. In the event that the computing environment is found unstable,
the development team should cease work on that system until the environment is
made stable again, or should move to a system that is stable and continue working
there.
2. Create a plan to have the server technicians go through all the new hardware on the
servers to ensure it is compatible.

Risk Information Sheet
Risk ID: APS-2 Date:1/4/19 Prob:80% Impact:Complex

Description:There are loopholes in the system resulting vulnerabilities for attackers to take
advantage and break into the system.

Refinement/Context:
1. Leakage of confidential information and data specific to the organisation. They can
cause massive operational problems, such as production downtime, compliance
penalties, and the cost of getting systems up and running again.
2. A possibility that the hacker might exploit the unpatched operating system, gain
unauthorised access and the entire control over the application.
3. Customers personal information can be compromised and can be used for
spamming,Identity theft and unsolicited marketing.

Mitigation/monitoring:
1.Check for any abnormal behaviour in functioning of the system.
2. Make use of anti-virus and other security software.
3. Test the system properly before deployment.

Management/contingency plan/Trigger:
1.Contact cyber security for investigation.
2.Take insurance.
3. Investment in firewalls and intrusion detection systems help in mitigating the security
risks and their future consequences.

Risk Information Sheet
Risk ID: APS-3 Date: 1/4/19 Prob: 30% Impact:1

Description:Late delivery of the project

Refinement/Context:
The cost associated with a late delivery is critical. A late delivery will result in a late
delivery of a letter of acceptance from the customer.

Mitigation/monitoring:
1. Without the letter of acceptance from the customer, the group will receive a failing
grade for the course. Steps should be taken to ensure a timely delivery by gauging
the scope of project based on the delivery deadline.
2. A schedule has been established to monitor project status. Falling behind schedule
would indicate a potential for late delivery. The schedule will be followed closely
during all development stages.

Management/contingency plan/Trigger:
1. Late delivery would be a catastrophic failure in the project development. If the
project cannot be delivered on time the development team will not pass the course.
2. If it becomes apparent that the project will not be completed on time, the only
course of action available would be to request an extension to the deadline form the
customer.

Risk Information Sheet
Risk ID: APS-4 Date: 1/4/19 Prob: 30% Impact: Marginal

Description: Technical issue with the printing station this may lead to the problem for
students and end users.

Refinement/Context:
1. If any technical issue occurs at the printing station, printing of uploaded documents
that is to be printed gets delayed.
2. There are many technical errors that can obstruct the process of printing the
documents such as shortage of cartridge ink, cut off of power supply .

Mitigation/monitoring:
1. Contact or search for the technical team to solve the problem of printers which are
not working.
2. If there is the shortage of ink in the printer we can request organization/college to
place an order for extra cartridges.

Management/contingency plan/Trigger:
1. In order to prevent this from happening, Lab assistant has to install new cartrideges.
2. A lab assistant is assigned at each printing station with the job of checking the
printer status whether the printer are working or not on daily basis.

Risk Information Sheet
Risk ID: APS-5 Date: 1/4/19 Prob: 30% Impact: Marginal

Description: Printer papers running out of stock and not being loaded to printers.

Refinement/Context:
1. When there is large number of users taking the printouts at the same time there is a
possibility of the printing sheets getting out of stock .
2. Insufficient funds can cause a problem of arranging more printing sheets to the user.

Mitigation/monitoring:
1. Before taking the printouts, we should inspect whether there are enough sheets to
take the required prints.

Management/contingency plan/Trigger:
1. If there is shortage of printing sheet we should contact the lab assistant to call for
sheets.
2. Till the time sheets are refilled in the printer mean while the users can shift the
printing station and take the printouts.
3. Immediate contact with the suppliers for product refill.
