ON PHYSICAL SCIENCE
I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate an understanding of :
1. The properties and mode of action of the following consumer
products:
a. cleaning materials
b. cosmetics
B. Performance Standards The learners shall be able to:

C. Learning Competencies S11/12PS-IIIi-j-30. give common examples of cleaning
materials for the house and for personal care
Specific Objectives At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
1. identify common examples of cleaning materials at home
and for personal care.

A. Reviewing previous lesson
or presenting the new lesson
B. Establishing the purpose of How important is Chemistry to one’s life? (Students give various
the lesson answers until they will give examples of cleaning materials and
personal care products.
The teacher presents the objective of the lesson:
1. identify common examples of cleaning materials at home
and for personal care.
C. Presenting examples /  Ask the students to bring out the assigned cleaning materials
instances of the new lesson and personal care products they have at home. Give 1 point
for each material brought (maximum of 5 points).

D. Discussing new concepts  Group students into 5 and let them group the materials
and practicing new skills #1 according to their own classifications.
 After classifying, the students will present their work in front of
the class and explain the basis/reason for such classification.
They shall graded according to the following rubric:

F. Developing mastery Teacher-guided discussion. Relate properties of cleaning
materials to their classifications, e.g. laundry soaps are mostly basic,
while personal care materials such as bath soap, facial wash,
cleansing lotion have slightly lower pH.
Bring out points of view regarding the safety and effectiveness
of some products to life and environment.
G. Finding Practical 1. Describe how understanding of chemistry involved in cleaning
applications of concepts and and personal care products is valuable in enhancing the wellness
skills in daily living of a person.
