Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering

Annual Research Activity Report (May 2010- June 2011)

Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (SVCE) showed a good progress in research in

the past 25 years. The major last year by the SVCE is the gaining of eleven Research Centre
status from Anna university/Anna University of Technology chennai by the eleven departments
of the college. Moreover, an astonishing amount of the research paper publications, with a total
of 123 publications, were published in the past year in national/international Journals by
members of faculty from all the departments of the College. Apart from this, 88 research papers
were published in the national and international proceedings. In addition, faculty members
attended 173 national and international workshop/seminars/conferences to share their research
findings. Furthermore, there was a good progress in conducting research-related guest lectures,
seminars, and workshops in the college; a total of 87 conferences/workshops/guest lecturers were
conducted in the past year. Outstanding progress was achieved by the departments by having
faculty members who received Doctoral degree (4), and by having registered for PhD (71)
programme. Moreover, 30 members of faculty from all the departments of SVCE were approved
by the Anna University/ Anna University of Technology chennai as guides to mentor MS
(Research) and PhD students. Three funded projects worth Rs.20,02,500/- was completed in the
last year, currently four funded projects worth Rs.16, 89,000/- is in progress.
In addition, research-related accomplishments were made by the undergraduate students
and postgraduate students from all the departments to enhance the research activities at the
SVCE. Students attended research seminars, published papers and presented papers in
conferences. Students of various departments have presented a total of 97 papers in national and
international conferences/workshops/ seminars. In addition, students of various departments
performed a total of 206 UG projects and 67 PG projects in the college under the guidance of the
faculty members of various departments. Moreover, students organized at least two scientific
conferences, in each department.
Overall, SVCE showed a good research outcome in the last academic year.
