Final Reflection

Did this assignment help you understand and apply concepts from the course? Yes, it did,

the main purpose of the Personal Change Project for me was to see how many different concepts

I could apply from the course to make me a better communicator. My main focus was to take any

different conflict management styles and see which ones worked best for understanding and

solving conflict. There were a few concepts such as Competition and Avoidance that did not

work well at all when it came to solving conflict. Turns out, those conflict management styles

lead to more conflict and aren’t effective at all. The ones that worked well included

Compromise and Accommodation. These were extremely effective in solving conflicts in a

calm and professional manner. I still use them to this day in my everyday life.

What did you learn in this assignment that will help you in other classes and/or in your

career? I would say that by figuring out what conflict management styles worked best for

solving conflict and creating healthy relationships that I became a better communicator overall.

These help me out greatly in the workplace as I am a manager and conflict does arise quite

frequently. I will be using the things I learned from the course until the day I die because of how

helpful they are in keeping things under control. I have greatly improved in communicating and

solving conflicts.
How does this class connect with what you've learned in other General Education classes?

This class connects with my other Gen Ed courses because I was able to utilize things I learned

from previous classes, such as English to help me better write papers and journals. I have used

the things I learned from the course to help me on a group project where not many people were

very helpful and of course that caused conflict to arise. Normally, I would have been worried

about this conflict but, thanks to this course I was able to help the groups solve the conflicts and

we got through the project smoothly by the end. I will take things from this course with me to my

grave and I truly appreciate that.
