Retrofit glove compartment
MINI One, Cooper und Cooper S (R 50 and R 53)

Left-hand drive cars (LHD) and right-hand drive cars (RHD)

Important information
The retrofit kit is for use within the BMW dealership organisation only.
Subject to technical modifications.

Target group
The target group for these installation instructions is specialist personnel trained on MINI cars with the
appropriate specialist knowledge.
All work must be completed using the latest MINI repair manuals, circuit diagrams, servicing manuals and
work instructions in a rational order using the prescribed tools (special tools) and observing current health
and safety regulations.

Installation information
Ensure that the cables/lines are not kinked or damaged as you install them in the car.
The installed cables are to be secured with cable ties.
All the installation work is shown on a LHD car. Proceed in exactly the same way but the other way round
on RHD cars.

Installation time
Approx. 0.5 hours or 1.5 hours including the installation of the glove compartment light, but this may vary
depending on the condition of the car and the equipment in it.

Ordering instructions
All fastening parts, the optional glove compartment light and the appropriate wiring harness must be
ordered separately. For part numbers see EPC, table 51_4992.

compartment light:

4. To install the wiring harness for the glove compartment light (optional)

Connect branch A1, BR cable, to joint connector X151.

If all the contacts in joint connector X151 are

occupied, connect branch A1 with a miniature
connector I.

5. To install the glove compartment

Attach the plastic nuts F to the mounting points.

Remove the stopper from the glove compartment
ventilation connector (1).

compartment B as shown.

6. Concluding work

This system does not require coding.

- Connect the battery

- Conduct a brief test
- Conduct a function test
- Re-assemble the car
