Title 2 Abstract 8 Introduction 1. Discuss the overview of the paper in few sentences. 10 2. Why measurements are necessary for your chosen class of problems, describe economic impact if any, scientific values, etc. 3. Describe in few sentences the major issues/challenges in the measurements (main areas of debate). 4. At the end of the introduction describe what the reader is going read in the rest of the paper. Theory Describe the theory behind the problem. For example, if you are discussing 10 temperature measurements on a metallic rod (Lab 1a), discuss the theory of 1D steady state heat conduction (with equations). Main body of The structure of this section can be different based on your choice. 40 the review If you decide to write chronologically then have separate paragraphs (preferably with headings/subheadings) for past and present efforts. You may also discuss the progress in the measurement technique or the area of research based on different approaches; in that case arrange your headings/ subheadings based on the different approaches. For example, in velocity measurement you can discuss laser based, pressure based or acoustic measurements; or in terms of intrusive and non-intrusive measurements. Whatever way you write the following should be clear to the reader 1. Different existing approaches of the measurement and the theory behind them 2. Evolution of these different measurement techniques 3. A comparison of these techniques (relative merits, demerits) 4. Future trends
Discussion Include a separate discussion section to describe the outstanding research 10
section questions still prevalent. In this section, you can also offer your own insights, ideas and recommendations. For example, if you are writing about electrical motors and generators, you can propose a better method for current measurement from AC induction motors (Lab 4 experiment). Conclusion 10 Organization 1. Aesthetics (how good it looks) 10 and look of the 2. Writing skill (few grammatical mistakes) paper 3. Proper formatting (citation/ cross referencing / Figure numbers etc.) 4. Good figures (not fuzzy, pixelated bad figures)
