Learning outcomes and assessment criteria

In order to pass this unit, the assignment that you present for assessment, needs to demonstrate that
you can meet all the learning outcomes listed below.
PRE-REQUISITE:

1. Perform the research based on the information shared


2. Critically discuss about all the concepts, theories and best practices discussed
3. Conclude by making the necessary inferences and suggest the future implications based on
your findings.

Context:
The employment relationship is the legal link between employers and employees. It exists when a
person performs work or services under certain conditions in return for remuneration.
Scenario:
You are currently working in an advisory role at the legal affairs department of a well reputed
organization operating in service industry. Being in advisory role, it is your core responsibility to
spread awareness among other employees of the organization about the important aspects
concerning employee relations in an organizational context. You have been delegated the
responsibility to take steps which help strengthen the employment relationship between the employer
and employee.
Keeping in view your major responsibilities, you have arranged an awareness workshop for all
employees to attend. You have also invited employers from surroundings to take part in the
workshop. The workshop aims to achieve following outcomes:

1. Application of principles of employee relations in an organizational context


2. Appropriate set of advices available with reference to rights, responsibilities and
obligations of the employment relationship
3. The stakeholders’ view of employee relations (presentation)
4. Evaluation of the impact of employee relations

The workshop shall be conducted through different individual and group based activities reflecting
the practical side of key features of employment relationship. Your task is to design activities
covering all the outcomes planned to achieve through this workshop.

INSTRUCTION TO INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT


 This assignment, which carries 100% of the total marks for the module, is compulsory
for candidates attending the TMUC HND programme.
 The general assessment criteria are Contents, Accuracy, Format, Creativity, and
Presentation and will be assessed based on the illustrated grading scheme.

 Independent research on the relevant topics is optional and complementary and


students are to support their opinion(s) with references.
 Special consideration would be given to students who demonstrate an in-depth
analysis of the task.
 Candidates who simply bring up their answers from sources may risk getting a good
mark and may risk passing if outright plagiarism is detected.
 Any similarities between individual assignments will result in a fail grade.
 Students are advised to retain a photocopy of their course assignment.

SUBMISSION INFORMATION

 Students are supposed to meet the submission deadline. Late submissions will be
subject to certain mark deduction.
 You must submit the work in accordance to the assignment paper guidebook.
 Any required time extension would be considered case by case.
 All assignments must be typed and printed out. Hand written assignments are not
acceptable.
