ABSTRACT
Objective: The purpose of this study to see the correlations between the angle of the cranial base with
position of maxilla and mandible Materials and Methods: The sample was 56 samples cephalometric
photo. Samples were taken selectively based on malocclusion class . 20 samples were Class 1, 20
were Class 2 Division 1, and 16 samples were Class 3. The samples were selected at the age of 17
years and above, complete teeth except third molars, Deutero Malay race, no genetic diseases, and
never perform orthodontic treatment. Results: Pearson correlation test showed there are significant
correlation between the cranial base angles with SNA angles (which show the anteroposterior
position of the maxilla) and SNB angles (which show the anteroposterior position of the mandible).
The correlation are negative. When the cranial base angle is greater, SNA and SNB angles is smaller
(maxilla and mandible position are more retrusive), otherwise if cranial base angle is smaller, SNA
and SNB angle is greater (maxilla and mandible position are more protrusive. Conclusion: There is a
significant relationship between the large cranial base angle with maxillary and mandibular
anteroposterior position. The relationship is negative. When the cranial base angle is greater, SNA
and SNB angle is smaller (maxillary and mandibular position are more retrusive), otherwise if
cranial base angle is smaller, SNA and SNB angle is greater (maxillary and mandibular position are
more protrusive).

Keywords: Cephalometric, cranial base angle, maxilla position, mandible position.
