Winning Projects
1st Prize: Team Dolphin – “Dynamic Tripod”
The Machinery and Electrical Department developed the Dynamic
Tripod in their quest to streamline the assembly, installation and lifting
processes involved in thrusters installation.
The innovation is a specially designed platform which enables the
easy loading of the strand jacks via lifting equipment in workshops.
This provides a safer and more efficient alternative to the conventional
method of manually lifting strand jacks during thrusters installation.
This new method minimises workers’ exposure to physical strain and
injuries while reducing the amount of manpower and time required to
complete the process. This has led to a two-fold increase in productivity
as well as manpower and cost-savings of up to 50%.
