a, Obtain a piece of rectangular wire (15
inch/38.2 cm) and mark the center.
b. Place the center of the wire into the 0
degree slot of the turret and create an anterior
contour by turning the turret to the 3 o'clock
position on each side. (Fig. 1)
e. Place the wire over the model again and
mark the first loop position between the lateral
and the canine. (Fig. 2)
{. Hold the wire with a pair of Kim pliers
immediately mesial to the mark and bend the
wire 90 degrees to the gingival direction. (Fig.

¢. Check the symmetry of the arch contour. If
not symmetrical, adjust it with a pair of three
prong pliers.
d. Place the wire over the model and mark the
positions of the lateral set-backs and insert the
lateral set-back bends. (Fig. 2 & 3)

g. Hold the vertical portion of the wire
touching the main part of the wire with the flat
part of Kim pliers (2.75 mm thick) and make a
90 degree bend anteriorly. The wire should be
Parallel to the main part. (Fig. 5)
h. Hold the wire with the mid-point of the
round barrel 3 mm away from the last bend
and make a U-turn distally. The upper and the
lower parts of the loop should be parallel. (Fig.
