Project 2 (Comparison)

The two products I will be comparing are Red Diamond Sweet Tea and Great

Value Sweet Tea. I chose these products because one is cheaper than the other but

tastes ten times better in my opinion. Both of these items can be purchased at your

local Wal-Mart. Both of these items are located next to each other. They are in the back

of the store towards the dairy products in a fridge. Red Diamond is a little more

expensive and it tastes alright if you are thirsty for a sweet tea. Great Value is much

sweeter. If you are a southern boy, such as myself, the sweeter the better. Which is why

I like Great Value’s version of sweet tea more.

I have noticed both of these products are usually located on the bottom shelf.

The orange juice always seems to be above the teas. I think orange juice is more

appealing for the whole community rather than just a few tea drinkers, which is why they

place it on the bottom shelf. The package is a regular gallon container that most liquids

come in. Red Diamond has a blue and red label while Great Value has a white and blue

label with a couple of fine looking glasses of tea on the front.

These products are really designed for anyone. I know people probably won’t

give sweet tea to a baby. But from a toddler on I believe it is for everyone. People

purchasing this product will be parents or adults or both in most cases. The market for

this product is to quench the thirst of Americans all over the country. Especially those

that live in higher temperatures.

This item does not appeal to one gender over the other. Unless one of the new

genders they have recently come out with disapprove. I have not seen any contests or

big displays of this product. Think the product can almost speak for itself by word of

mouth from prior consumers. I regularly buy Great Value and always try to spread the

word to friends and family.

Both of these items are on the Wal-Mart website but you cannot purchase them

from that website. It is designed for in-store pickup only.

Red Diamond Sweet Tea comes with a $3 price tag. Whereas Great Value Sweet Tea

is fifty cents cheaper and taste much better to me. This item is not seasonal to me. Most

people would probably buy it around the holidays for family gatherings or parties.

If people want to buy this item they need to go down to their local Wal-Mart. This

product utilizes a semi truck to come from the manufacturer to it’s selling place. It sure

would be nice of they ran a pipeline straight to my house but I do not think I could afford

that nor have it arranged. I really do not see Great Value items advertised on TV or the

internet. I do see Red Diamond every once in a while advertised both on the TV and

internet. They only way people will know about the Great Value version is to physically

walk into a Wal-Mart and feast their eyes upon the beauty of their very own gallon of

Great Value Sweet Tea.
