Train Local Coordinators
Our Goal: More accurate data being collected and more
accurate information being given/reported

Sources of Information: Local Coordinators themselves

through a survey/standardized test

Time Frame: 1 month

Responsible for gathering this data: Regional Coordinators

5
Screen Children for Undernutrition in
LDS Stakes

Our Goal: See an increase in nutrition levels and an increase in

the frequency of parents bringing their children to the clinic by
analyzing test results and check-in data from the clinics

Sources: Parents and test results from the clinic

Time Frame: 6 months

Responsible for gathering data: Doctors and clinic volunteers

6
Provide Supplements to Mothers of
Undernourished Children
Our Goal: Children showing signs of growth and indication of
follow-through for Mother’s providing the supplements to
their children through a standardized reporting form

Source: This information will be gathered through reports

from the local coordinators and from the mothers
themselves

Time Frame: Every 6 months children will report for

follow-up screenings and children will be re-measured

Responsible for gathering data: The local coordinators

7
Provide a Nutrition and Hygiene Education
Class to Mothers of Undernourished Children
Our Goal: Growth changes in children and Mother’s
increased ability to understand proper hygiene practices
via a pre-/posttest survey and test results from the clinic

Source: Local Coordinators

Time Frame: 6 months

Responsible for gathering data: The local coordinators are

in charge of gathering the data and the data is sent every 6
months to the Country Coordinator. The Country
Coordinator will give the report to the Country Supervisor.

8
Provide Deworming Medication to Children

Our Goal: Decrease in the number of parasites in the

children

Source: The information will be gathered by the local

coordinators at the semi-annual screening; data from
the screenings will be collected by the local
coordinators via a standardized reporting form

Time Frame: Deworming medications will be

administered every 6 months

Responsible for gathering data: The local coordinators

Evaluation Design

The one-group pre-/posttest evaluation design

is set up to gather data prior to the intervention
and after the intervention.

It’s diagrammed as: O1 X O2

The design collects two measurement scores
and therefore can indicate improvement from
pre-test to posttest.

10
Mothers Washing Hands Before Preparing and
Cooking Food
By November 30, 2019, increase 35% of the proportion of mothers who
wash their hands before preparing and cooking food in the past week.
Baseline: 14%.

Mothers will be asked about their routine in preparing and cooking food
and if they wash their hands when preparing food. The data will be
collected through responses to a questionnaire via an iPad.

11
Mothers Providing Supplementation to
Undernourished Children
By November 30, 2019, increase to 25% the proportion of mothers who
have provided supplementation to undernourished children within the
past month. Baseline: 0%.

Each round of supplementation is provided to the mothers monthly,

and after the first round of supplements, an electronic survey will be
given at the one-month follow-up when the mothers will return for the
second round of supplements.

12
Mothers Breastfeeding Children
Under 2 Years of Age
By December 31, 2019, increase to 55% the proportion of children
under 2yrs of age who were ever breastfed in the past week.
Baseline: 34%.

Surveys will be administered door-to-door and at the local

schools via an iPad

13
Mothers Providing Their Children
with Deworming Medication

By January 30, 2020 increase to 60% of the proportion of children

who received deworming medication in the past month. Baseline:
43%.

Mothers will be asked how often they administered the deworming

medication by keeping monthly attendance, to see which Mothers
are consistently bringing their children to be given the medication

14
Reducing the number of children
suffering from diarrhea
By December 31, 2019 reduce the proportion of
children who suffer from diarrhea to 30%. Baseline: 47%.

Mothers will be asked how many times their child has

experienced diarrhea in the past month. The data will
be conducted through responses on a questionnaire.

15
Reducing the number of stunted children

By December 31, 2019 reduce the proportion of children who

suffer from stunting to 20%. Baseline: 33.4%.

The evaluation team will collect data on weight for age,

length or height for age, weight/length or BMI, and gender.
These measurements are then compared to the Z score.

16
Survey Development

● Surveys were developed to determine whether the impact

and outcome objectives of the program were met
● Both quantitative and qualitative questions were used
● Questions were also developed to be mutually exclusive
and/or exhaustive
● Surveys will be administered after the enrolled parents have
completed the Liahona program (i.e. their child is no longer
malnourished)
17
Interviews
● In-depth interviews for parents
participating in the Liahona program were
developed in order to understand barriers
and facilitators to giving their children the
daily supplement
● The interviews will be performed in a one
on one setting
● They will be administered to either
mothers or fathers after they have
completed the program
