How to increase the performance by tweaking the virtual memory settings?

I'm using a pentium D 2.8GHz with a 2 GHz RAM but i find my computer lagging when working on bigger *.iam and *.idw files. Animation is also
slow.What is the best setting for the virtual memory and will the performance be better if i don't use the paging files and directly only using my
RAM??

First, reduce system overhead, unload all unneccearry resident programs,
improve graphics card performance by dropping "Windows Splash", this can be
done: Start>Control Panel>System
Properties>Advanced>Performance>Settings>Adjust for best performance
Remember that the Recommended Minimum Size is equivalent to 1.5 times the
RAM on your computer. The Recommended Maximum Size is equivalent to 3 times
the RAM but not larger than 4095Mb; which is the Pageing File LimitSo if you
have the same Memory as this example below -- it might help you to
understand

RAM = 512Mbs

Recommended Minimum Size = 1.5 X 512Mb RAM or 768Mbs.

Recommended Maximum Size = NETWORK
3 X 512Mb RAM or 1536Mbs.

This means that for Best Performance, do not make the initial size to less

than the Recommended Minimum Size under Total paging file size for all 
drives. This is because the Recommended Minimum Size for your Paging File is
equivalent to 1.5 times the RAM on your computer as well. While many experts
will tell you to leave the Paging File at its recommended size, you may
still increase it if the programs which you frequently use on your system
utilize a lot of memory.
