LEARNING PLAN IN SCIENCE 6

2nd Quarter
(2nd day)
Content: Vertebrate and Invertebrate Animals
Content Standards: Demonstrate understanding of different characteristics
of vertebrate and invertebrate animals.
Performance Standards: Make an inventory of vertebrate and invertebrate
animals that are commonly seen in the community.
Code: S6MT-II-e-f3
I. OBJECTIVE:
Classify animals based on their characteristics.
II. SUBJECT MATTER:
A. Science Concepts:
 Invertebrates are animals without backbones.
Invertebrates can be classified into smaller
groups. Each of which has certain characteristics.
Invertebrates include arthropods, sponges,
echinoderms, cnidarians, mollusks flatworms,
segmented worms and round worms. Into groups
enable mankind to identify how each animal
functions
 Invertebrates are organized such that scientific
order allows for an efficient classification.
 The classifications of animals into groups enable
mankind identify how each animal functions in aid
of its environment and mankind in general.

E. Values Integration:
Life lesson: Give importance to the neglected animals in our
community.
Be careful in observing live or preserved
animals.
Never hold live animals.

B. EXPLORATION
1. What to do:
Rotational Stations:
a. Divide the class into 6 groups. Each group will be
assigned to a station
b. Each station has different preserved invertebrate animals
and pictures as well.
c. Let the groups investigate the animals on the stations in
which they were assigned. After 5 minutes, let them
move to the next station and investigate until they finish
all the stations
d. Let the groups complete the table below

2. Result of the Presentation: Any representative of the group
will present the output of the group.
C. EXPLANATION:
1. Analysis
a. How do you find the activity?
b. Are all the group members did their share?
c. What insight have you gained from the activity?
2. Discussion:
1. What are the groups of invertebrate’s animals?
2. How do these groups differ?
D. ELLABORATION:
Deepening:
1. Film viewing and Note Taking Technique
Let the pupils watch a video presentation about the different
groups of invertebrates. Write down notes learned from the
video.
