Assignment Title: Social issues argumentative essay

Student Writing Goal: To obtain an 80% or higher on my overall score and improve on my grammatical errors and
construct a well written essay without the guidance of an outline.

Instructions:
1) Re-read the paper (and teacher feedback).
2) Complete this reflection sheet.

What was the purpose of this writing assignment?

To bring light to any social issue and chose a side to argue for and debate with a side you are against. My
goal was to argue that bullying is a main factor of suicide. Bullying leads to depressive and addictive
behaviors. It can also bring harm the victim and their family members. More than one person is affected when
someone commits suicide. Technology has made matters worse.

How did you perform in relation to the expectations of the writing rubric?
I scored an 85% percent on my writing assignment without my works cited because it was turned in
incorrectly overall I had a few repeated punctuation errors and I had good arguments overall. I kept a steady
ground and did not veer off topic. My topic was very sensitive and I wanted to get my point across. In terms
of the writing rubric I was able to argue my side effectively.

What aspect of this piece did you do well? (give example/quotes to support claims)
I did well on my arguments because I did a lot of research on this assignment as well as looked into statistics
an actual facts and data bases. I really wanted to get my point across and make this issue more known, instead
of sweeping it under the rug. I provided a lot of examples and real life cases where victims’ families and
brought light to this issue of bullying.

Why have you/haven’t you chosen to revise this writing assignment?

I haven’t chosen to revise this assignment because I worked really hard on it and I didn’t think that I would
have to work on this assignment. It took me a while to complete and I did not want to look at it again. I
overall thought I did well on this assignment and there would be no need to revise it.

What will you do better in your next writing assignment, and how will I do it?
In my next writing assignment I will choose a topic that isn’t sensitive and more debatable. Although I am
very passionate about my topic I had a really hard time looking for arguments that didn’t sound the same and
went more into depth. This issue was valid but there are so many opposing factors and it was really had to
create a concrete essay with multiple arguments

To what degree of success did you achieve your previously stated goal(s)?
I achieved my goals by making my argument understandable. I had really good arguments, few grammatical
errors and almost no misspelled words. I scored an 85% which is just 5% under my ultimate goal.
