FACULTY OF ENGINEERING Department of Chemical Engineering
ChE 515: Chemical Engineering Research 2
PROGRESS REPORT
Period Covered: September 8, 2018 – September 22, 2018
Thesis Coordinator: MNRDimaano Final Thesis Title: A Comparative Study of the Effect of Polymerization Temperature to the Thermal, Mechanical and Morphological Properties and ‘In-Vitro’ Degradation of Synthesized Biodegradable Poly (Xylitol Diglycolate)
Proponents: 1. Ranera, John Andrew A. 5ChE-C
2. Tapulao, Rieal Royce I. 5ChE-C 3. Bernardino, John Christopher C. 5ChE-C Thesis Adviser: Engr. Edsel B. Calica Co-Adviser/s (if any): N/A Collaborator N/A (Name, Position, Company/Institution) Brief Description of work • Due to the resignation of Jay Anne Aleño, PhD. we looked for done: another thesis adviser. On September 8, 2018 Engr. Edsel B. (You may attach Data Sheet Calica officially accepted our invitation to be our research for experimental results adviser. and/or photos as proof.) • We finally came up with a topic, a comparative study of the effect of polymerization temperature to xylitol diglycolate. • We already ordered the needed raw materials for our experiment, xylitol and diglycolic acid. • We already contacted the supplier of nitrogen gas and made an agreement. • We finalized the glass wares needed which will be obtained from LESO UST. The forms are already submitted. • The letters for the working areas are already checked and will be submitted to Sir Enzo the following week. • Chapters 1 to 3 are being drafted to date Problem/s encountered: • Unexpected change of thesis adviser and thesis topic • We are constrained about the time because of the sudden change of thesis and the delivery of raw materials is 30-60 days.
Place of work/expt: Chemistry Lab and Thesis Lab
Please confirm submission Our deadline for Chapter 1 to 3 is on September 29, 2018. We are of Chapter 1 / Chapter 2 / writing and finalizing the three chapters as of the moment. Chapter 3 / Chpater 4 / Chpater 5 (if there’s a deadline of any chapter last week) Prepared by: Ranera, John Andrew A. Tapulao, Rieal Royce I. Bernardino, John Christopher C.
