BESCOM launches SMS facility

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company (BESCOM) celebrated its 10 years of service and on this occasion, it has launched a
new SMS service for the benefit of its consumers.

any complaint related to BESCOM, it would
be solved by just sending an SMS. Residents
are happy about the new move and thank
BESCOM Managing Director Manivanan for
his vision and initiative to reform the
workings of BESCOM. With this new facility,
the consumers can register complaints from
immediate effect. You can send SMS to
9243150000 to register your complaint in this
format: BESCOM < Sub-division code> <
Nature of complaint> Eg: BESCOM N2 No
Power Supply since 10.10pm.
Once the SMS is received, consumer gets
back the acknowledgment message with
ticket number. If the consumer does not
receive acknowledgement message he/she
can call to 080-22873333 or mail to
helplinebescom@gmail.com
The application forwards complaint
message to the concerned Sub-Divisional
Assistant Executive Engineer and EE for
necessary action.
This comes in addition to the existing
helpline in order to address the complaints in
a quick manner and also it will help the
company cut down on reaction time to
complaints as well. Whenever the consumers
call, they give a lot of unnecessary
information and takes time for the operator
to respond to the problem. With the SMS
facility,
it will be able to act on the problems
quickly. The software that BESCOM uses for
handling SMS complaints replies to the
customer immediately with a reference
number and also displays the complaint on
BESCOM's systems within a few seconds.
In addition, the BESCOM has control
rooms which are manned round-the-clock to
monitor complaints coming in by SMS.
24x7 helpline for consumers
Bescom consumers can call the toll-free
number 18004252627 or 080-22873333 to
register their complaints. Going by
consumer reviews, the helpline seems to be
quite efficient. Consumers can register a
complaint related to power outage and the
helpline executives will respond within in a
few minutes with the relevant reason for the
outage. They will also follow up on the
complaint by calling back the consumer and
checking if the power is restored.
