How globalizations affect political, social, technological and cultural

perspectives?
Political Impacts of Globalization:

One of the major impacts of political globalization is that it reduces the importance of nation
states. Many have organized themselves into trade blocs. Emergence of supranational institutions
such as the European Union, the WTO, the G8, and The International Criminal Court etc
replaced or extended the national functions to facilitate international agreement. This has
reduced the sovereignty of nation states in taking important decisions with respect to their
country where we see massive intervention of these organizations in all fields.

The rise of global civil society is one of the major contributions of globalization. The
multivariate groups make up civil society which often protests against capitalism. This shows the
existence of a social sphere above and beyond national, regional or local societies.

Social Impacts of Globalization:

The social dimension of globalization refers to the impact of globalization on the life and work
of people, families and societies. There are more social aspects for globalization beyond the
employment, working dimensions, income, social protection etc. the idea of social justice is been
now been a distant dream to be accomplished. The idea of social justice aims at creating a
society based on the idea of equality and solidarity, the values of human rights, the dignity of
every human being.

Every society used to have its own unique culture with respect to the language, social norms,
morality, civic sense etc. with the advent of media which has this special capability to influence
millions at the same time has challenged the social institutions of the society mainly family.But it
is obvious that globalization has a major impact on social realm of society across the world.

Cultural Impacts of Globalization:

The cultural aspect of globalization is something which attained global attention. Arjun
Appadurai argued that globalization has produced complex interactions between different
cultures. He discusses about five ‘scapes’ which influence culture and argued that these factors
ensure cultural diversity and not cultural homogeneity or domination.

 Ethnoscape refer to flows of people such as tourists and immigrants.

 Technoscape include technology that crosses boundaries.
 Financescapes refer to flows of currency markets.
 Mediascapes refer to mass media technology and images.
 Ideoscapes also refer to images but specifically to the political and ideological aspects

Media have a central place in globalization for three reasons.

 Media corporations have increasingly globalized their operations
 Global communication infrastructure facilitates global information flows.
 Global media play a key role in how we view events across the world in developing
shared system of meaning.

Globalization has got huge impacts on cultural sphere. However, there are also important
forms of reproduction, interconnection and time-space aspect of these cultures and associated
cultural practices.

Technology:

Technology is vital force in the modern form of business globalization. The technological
advancement has helped a lot in creation and growth of global market.

 Due to technological advancement distance, time and location doesn’t matter now.
 Concept of E-commerce, E-business and E-banking has been the latest trend of doing
business as it allows voluminous transaction to be done speedily and easily through
Internet.
 Large pools of skilled and quality human resources.
 Dramatic fall in international telecommunication cost.
 Government bodies changing their mind sets and promoting privatization of various
sectors especially in India.
ANSWER 2:

.In 1961,they developeda comparative model with six cultural orientations:

1. the nature of people;

2. the relationship to nature;
3. the relationship to other people;
4. the modality of human activity (doing and being);
5. the temporal focus of human activity (future ,past ,present)
6. The concept of space (private/public).

These dimensions of cross cultural management are as follows:

 The growing need of cross-cultural management and ethics has several causes.
One of the causes is globalization connected with growing competition, networks,
and new technologies. The other main cause of growing role of cross-cultural
sciences is migration. This process creates environments where multi-cultural
societies, cultures, and enterprises develop.
 The main problems or cross-cultural barriers of •multicultural enterprises are
standards, practice, ethics, laws, culture, customs, management system, and
socioeconomic system.
 From theoretical viewpoint possible solutions •of cross-cultural problems may
be knowledge transfer and dissemination, virtual teams, effective management of
human resources, and bicultural skills. Important role plays modern business
ethics which standards and norms are constructed on international viewpoint.
 As empirical research results show the most important cross-cultural barriers are
believes and stereotypes, verbal language, traditions, values, nonverbal languages,
and social rules. Possible effective solutions of practical cross-cultural problems may
be collective parties, learning foreign languages, cultural programmes and
instructing. The effectiveness of cross-cultural management and ethics appliance in
enterprises especially depends on managers’ qualification.
