Here we have choose wind energy & wave energy to solve our needs due to following
reasons:
1:more energy can be extracted.
2:simple design.
3:low instaLlation cost.
Our design is such that it can fit to the requirement of Indian environmental
mental
conditions and needs of Indian people.
Enviormental conditions:
1:low wind speed
2:large coastal line ,means more tidal wave energy
3:variable pitch blades can withstand any high speed wind even during natural
catastrophes
4.economical and can be redily established.
5.can be implemented in large numbers due to a large costline
Wing dia-7m,
Tower height-16m above(to get good wind speed)
Wind speed;
-start wind speed-4m/s.
-cut in wind speed -4.5m/s
-rated wind speed-8.5m/s.
THIS CONFRIGURATION CAN GENERATE (3300 KILO WATT) RATED
POWER.
Ans-- A propeller with a controller that adjusts the blades' pitch so that the rotational
speed always keeps the same.
----- to give the highest propulsive efficiency for any speed and load condition
-------variable pitch are high starting torque, a wide, relatively flat torque curve,
------- a lower blade speed ratio
------more efficient operation in turbulent winds,
------lower blade speed ratio which lowers blade bending stresses.
2::::why to use INDUCTION TYPE GENERATOR?( if variable pitch blades are used)
Ans----- good for small wind turbine
------easier to operate control &maintain
Imp -the output power of wind driven induction generotor is uniquely determined by
operating speed .the pull out torque conditions should not be exceeded .when this appens
the speed continues to increase and system may run away so we have to use BRAKE.
Ac-Dc-Ac LINKS
This utilises an AC sourses (power lines)
Which periodically reverses polarity and causes the commutation to occur naturally.since
frequency is automatically fixed by the power lines (synchronous invertor)
THE PENDULUM WIL SET THE SHAFT ROD INTO MOTION WHICH IN TURN
WILL SET THE CRANK( NOT IN FIGURE) INTO ROTARY MOTION.
V1- initial velocity of the incoming sea wave
V2- final velocity of the sea wave after striking the surface of the pendulum
M- estimated mass of sea water striking per second
p – work done per second on the pendulum
Work done on the oscillating surface:
Using the work energy theorm
P=(1/2)M(V1^2 –V2^2)
The oscillator has to be adjusted at such a depth that it is made to oscillate at its natural
frequency as closely as possible by the wave.
This wil reduce the factor of variation in the frequency of the oscillation and will tend to
remain at its natural frequency for a longer duration.
The frequency of the oscillator will match with the to n fro motion of the shaft rod
attached to the crank to convert the motion to rotational motion.
If we find out the work done on the pendulum per second we get the power and use of the
relation: POWER= FORCE X VELOCITY will give us the force on the pendulum
surface in the horizontal direction.
Let the centre of action of this force be at a distance X1 from the pin
Force * x1= torque on the pin
Then
This torque also acts on the rod connected at a distance X2 from the centre of the pin
FORCE * X1=FORCE ON SHAFT * X2
X1 AND X2 may be designed
X2 << X1 for a greater force at the shaft rod
