IntelliSense Software Corporation

General Information 5

1 General Information

IntelliSuite software can be installed in a node-locked (local) or network format.

1.1 Node-locked (local) installation

IntelliSuite will run only on the computer on which the software has been installed. An electronic local license key file is
generated for the computer that is specific to the computer’s Host Name and the Physical Address of its Ethernet card.

1.2 Network installation

IntelliSuite will run on any computer that can access an IntelliSuite license server program over a network. IntelliSuite is
installed locally on each client computer, while a license server program is installed on a designated IntelliSuite License
server computer. The IntelliSuite License server program contains an electrical network license key file specifying the
number of clients that can simultaneously run IntelliSuite, and the modules that user purchased. The IntelliSuite license
server computer must be visible over a network to each IntelliSuite client computer. An electrical network license key file is
generated for the designated IntelliSuite License server computer that is specific to the computer’s Host Name and Physical
Address of the Ethernet Adapter card.

1.3 Software and hardware requirements

Operating systems
Microsoft Windows 8.1, 7, Vista, or XP-SP3. Depending on individual modules, older versions of Windows System may or
may not be working for IntelliSuite. Please consult the software support team for the details.

Minimum hardware requirements

Intel 2.4 GHz CPU (equivalent or faster)
2G RAM for 32 bit OS or 4G RAM for 64 bit OS, no home editions
10 GB of free hard disk space
3D video card with 512 MB VRAM (CUDA-compatible video card to run GPU version of IntelliEtch)
Ethernet network adapter card 10/100 MB

Recommended hardware requirement:

Intel Multicore CPU (Dual-core or Quad-core)
8G RAM 64 bit Windows 7 Pro
10 GB of free HD space
nVidia CUDA-compatible video cards with 2GB VRAM
Ethernet network adapter card 10/100 MB

2 Installation instructions

License keys
Before beginning an initial installation of the IntelliSuite software on a computer, first contact IntelliSense Software via email
to request either a local or network license key file(s). Please send your complete contact information along with the Host
Name and Physical Address of the Ethernet Adapter card of your computer via email to support@intellisense.com

The Host Name and Physical Address data can be obtained by opening a dos window command prompt and then by typing
ipconfig/all and pressing enter. License key files will be sent via email to licensed users of IntelliSuite.
Local Installation 7

3 Local Installation

1. Close all applications.

2. Insert the IntelliSuite CD in the CD ROM drive, or save the downloaded setup.exe file to a local path.
3. Run Setup.exe. This will open the InstallShield Wizard dialog box. Follow the dialog box instructions until the
Setup Type screen appears. At this step, a Complete (Default) installation or a Custom installation can be selected.

3.1 Complete (Default) Installation (Recommended)

This is the default selection in the Setup Type window. This option will install all program features in the default IntelliSuite
installation directory (C:\IntelliSuite).

Click Next
Click Install

A status bar will indicate the progress of the installation.

When the installation is complete (this may take several minutes), in some operation systems, an IntelliSuite License Server
dialog box may appear to let you know that the INTCAD environment variable must be setup. Click OK (the INTCAD
variable is set automatically after you Click OK) then Click Finish.

The software is now installed, but the license key file still needs to be copied to the C:\IntelliSuite directory before
the software will function. Copy the license key file, intcad.lic, that was sent via email from IntelliSense Software to the
C:\IntelliSuite directory.

Click Start…Programs….IntelliSuite

Select one of the IntelliSuite modules that you have purchased. The module will open and be ready for use.

Note: If the InstallShield detects and existing version of IntelliSuite in the default directory, a screen will appear
providing you with three options, which are Modify , Repair , and Remove . Choose Remove and Click Next to
remove the existing IntelliSuite version. After the removal is complete, run the Setup.exe again and choose
Complete at the Setup Type screen and follow the remaining Complete Installation instructions.
8 IntelliSuite Installation Guide

3.2 Custom Installation

This option allows users to select which components of IntelliSuite are installed. The user can also control the IntelliSuite
installation directory.

Note: Complete (Default) Installation is recommended

Select the Custom option in the Setup Type window

Click Next

A Custom Setup screen will appear where users can specify the installation directory and which software components are
installed.

To select specific software components to be removed from the installation, browse parts of the software component tree by
clicking on the “+” symbol, then click on the hard drive picture beside the component and set the option to:

To change the default installation directory from C:\IntelliSuite, click the change button. When finished making
changes,

Click Next
Click Install

A status bar will indicate the progress of the installation. When the installation is complete (this may take several minutes),
in some operation systems, an IntelliSuite License Server dialog box will appear to let you know that the INTCAD
environment variable must be setup. Click OK (the INTCAD variable is set automatically after you Click OK) then Click
Finish.

The software is now installed, but the license key file still needs to be copied to the <installation drive>:
\<installation directory>\IntelliSuite\ directory before the software will function. Copy the license key
file to this directory (the license key file should be named “intcad.lic”) then

Click Start…Programs…IntelliSuite

Select one of the IntelliSuite modules that you have purchased. The module will open and be ready for use.

Note: If the InstallShield detects and existing version of IntelliSuite in the default directory, a screen will appear
providing you with three options, which are Modify , Repair , and Remove . Choose Remove and Click Next to
remove the existing IntelliSuite version. After the removal is complete, run the Setup.exe again and choose
Custom at the Setup Type screen and follow the remaining Custom Installation instructions.

Note: All files and folders associated with IntelliSuite cannot include spaces in their filenames. For example the
folders C:\Program_Files or C:\ProgramFiles will work fine. But a folder C:\Program Files will cause
problems in IntelliSuite.

Note: We recommend saving the intcad.lic file elsewhere on your computer as well to prevent accidentally
deleting the file.
Local reinstallation or local upgrade installation 9

4 Local reinstallation or local upgrade installation

Reinstalling IntelliSuite (or installing an upgrade) is similar to the initial installation. The software comes with InstallShield
that automatically provides the option of uninstalling an existing version of the software from the default directory or any
specified directory.

Note: Do NOT manually delete the IntelliSuite folder.

Please do not manually delete the existing IntelliSuite folder. InstallShield will uninstall the old IntelliSuite files and leave
your data files in their various folders.

1. Close all applications.

2. Run the downloaded Setup.exe. This will open the InstallShield Wizard dialog box that will provide three
options: Modify, Repair and Remove. Choose the Remove option to uninstall the existing version. After removal is
complete, run Setup.exe again to install the software and follow either the Complete or Custom local installation
instructions from section 3.

administrator accounts. If you wish to expand the IntelliSuite access to non-Administrators, please contact
support@intellisense.com to request a special build of the setup package.
