Do you have access to the stable Internet at home and if not where do you get access to the Internet?
● 94% percent of students
had stable Internet at home. ● 6% of students did not have stable Internet at home. ● No students stated that they used stable Internet at their work. Do you procrastinate more/less when your coursework is done online?
● 43 out of 90 students (47%)
stated that they procrastinate more when their coursework is online. ● 30 of these students say they forget to do their online coursework. Are you less likely to ask questions in class and/or do you just look up the answers because you have Internet access?
● 47 of students are less likely
to ask questions in class because of Internet access. ● 29 participants stated that they look up answers online, but also participate in class. ● 3 students stated that they don’t look up answers but do ask questions in class. Do you often get distracted/procrastinate from doing your work because of the Internet?
● 72% of students said they
sometimes or often/always get distracted when doing work online. ● 28% states that they rarely or never get distracted. Do you believe that having to do your schoolwork online improves your grades? ● 26% of students stated that having to do their schoolwork online worsens their grade. ● 36% states that there is an improvement in their grade. ● With the majority of people stating there is no change. How many hours do you spend on the Internet a day?
● On average, students spend 5-6
hours online a day. ● We found no correlation between students’ average Internet use per day and their reported grade improvements. How many hours do you spend on school work weekly?
● On average students spend 4
hours on school work. ● Only 7 people spend about 10 hours a day on school work ● However, this question was poorly phrased. ● Although we know how many hours a student spend on school work, it does not state if this work is done in class, outside of class or online. What does all this data mean ● Access to the Internet decreases overall productivity. ● There are strong polarizing opinions on whether online course work improves grades. ● When coursework is online, students tend to forget about it or push it back to a later time. ● Students prefer to look up answers online outside of the classroom. ● Everyone uses the Internet for school work to some degree ● Most people have access to the Internet at any given time So how does your usage of Internet affect your school work? ● Internet access can improves a students grade ● Students tend to forget to do their online classwork ● Students struggle with doing their work online because of the vast distractions ● Students rush doing their assignments, doing worse than if they had started earlier ● Students tend to ask less question in class ● Class participation is decreased in the classroom
