In the Inca and Pre Inca times, we observe our mining tradition in the
archaeological remains: ceramics, goldsmiths, dyes, citadels and
temples.
In the Colony, the main products were mercury and silver.
In the Republic, guano and saltpeter were exploited.
At present, metals, especially gold, copper, tin, lead, silver, zinc and
iron and non-metals: phosphates, gypsum, bentonite, barite, marble,
limestone and diatomite are the main products of national export and
represent 50 % Of our total exports.
