TSE TOWER
STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING ®
®
The TOWER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING is a powerful and comprehensive Microsoft Windows
program for the analysis and design of steel transmission structures, such as latticed towers and
sub-stations to a range of international standards. An extensive library of panel types allow for
quick creation of the structure through parametric tools.
The TOWER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING® includes powerful and productive features for generating
any type of latticed structure model. Engineers can now model faster than ever using the
parametric wizard generator and Panel libraries. Panels can be defined by the user through Panel
Editor, or selected from a standard panel library. Standard libraries also include materials and
sections.

TECHNICAL PAPER
The TOWER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING® includes a wide range of advanced analysis methods such
as linear, non-linear, P-Delta, buckling, natural frequencies, seismic and dynamic analysis. Wind
and ice loads can be computed automatically in accordance with many international standards.
The load generator wizard allows the user to easily create basic loads and load combinations.
KEY FEATURES
Automatic generation of dead, ice and wind loads to the following standards:
o ASCE 74-2009
o IEC 60826-2003 (International standard)
o CAN/CSA-C22.3 No. 60826-10
o Uniform pressure
User-defined wind and ice profiles
Loading for joints, members including concentrated, uniform, trapezoidal and thermal loads
Automatic calculation of drag coefficients, gust factors and topographic parameters

Analysis methods in TSE® include:
o Static linear and P-Delta
o Static non-linear
o Buckling
o Natural frequencies
o Seismic and dynamic
Linear and exact non-linear cable elements (catenary cables)
MEMBERS DESIGN
Member capacities may be checked against the international design standard ASCE 10-97.
Extensive types of checks performed by the program include slenderness, buckling, connection
strength, anchor rod strength, tensile and compression strengths. The user can optionally checks
bending, shear and torsion strengths. The TOWER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING® is a powerful solution
to do advanced design of tower and sub-station structures.
KEY FEATURES
Available design provisions include:
o ASCE 10-97
Members are checked against their ultimate strength in accordance with the selected
code, Design check include:
o Slenderness ratios
o Tension
o Compression
o Connections (shear, bearing, block shear)
o Anchor rods
TECHNICAL PAPER
Anchor rod can be design checked for ASCE 10-97 and CAN/CSA S16-09 standards.
Calculation of the equivalent loads on footings
Can optionally check members according to LRFD-99 for :
o Bending
o Tension-bending
o Compression-bending
o Shear
o Torsion
o Warping
The TOWER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING® provides you with rich inquiry tools to review the results on
screen and an exhaustive set of results and diagrams. It displays compression curves, deflection,
axial forces, torsion, bending moments and stress diagrams. Also, it displays results numerically by
means of tables. Customizable and easy to create reports generation is provided in several
formats.
