Project Based

Learning
Dynamic learning experiences
Outcomes
Every teacher will engage their students with two project-based
learning opportunities per semester.
PBLs can be interdisciplinary or content specific.
Teachers will have access to technology, labs, instructional support,
and partners in order to be successful.
What is Project Based Learning?
Project Based Learning is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by
working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an authentic,
engaging, and complex question, problem, or challenge.

Students work on a project over an extended period of time – from a week up to a semester
– that engages them in solving a real-world problem or answering a complex question. They
demonstrate their knowledge and skills by developing a public product or presentation for a
real audience.

As a result, students develop deep content knowledge as well as critical thinking, creativity,
and communication skills in the context of doing an authentic, meaningful project.

Questions for reflection:

What was the objective?
What experiences brought the standard to life?
What partnerships were evident?
How was the PBL interdisciplinary?
What 21st century skills were students able to develop?

knowledge to the real world, and use
it to solve problems, answer complex
questions, and create high-quality

List of Existing Partnerships

Bring PBLs to life by inviting partners into

your classroom to help make those
connections.

Examples: energy efficient PBL? Partner

with Georgia Power (in class talks and
visits, help brainstorming for student work
products, visits to the power plant, etc).
