» participation in a full semester placement, which provides the opportunity to gain real life work experiences
across a variety of the functional areas of Human Resources
» hands-on, industry-specific simulations and activities that allow learners to apply concepts to real world HR
scenarios
» a common first year in the School of Business where you can build relationships with students who may be your
future colleagues, clients or trading partners
» coursework that allows HR students to develop the understanding required to strategically support other
Business disciplines within their organizations
* Students starting in January are required to attend classes over the summer semester.

You will typically begin your career as a human resources assistant, working as a generalist or in one of the areas of
specialization. As most enterprises require human resources services, you could be employed by a wide variety of
organizations, ranging from financial services and manufacturing to government and education.
Related Programs
The Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) has approved courses in nine HR specialization areas,
which may be credited toward the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation. Students who wish
to pursue their CHRP designation must successfully pass the Comprehensive Knowledge Exam (CKE1) and the Law
Exam. Eligibility criteria to write the exams includes attaining an overall minimum average of 70 percent in the nine
identified courses, with no mark less than 65 percent. The courses creditable for the exam include: Human
Resources Administration; Finance and Accounting; Occupational Health and Safety; Recruitment and Selection;
Additional Costs
Approximately $1,000 per year for books and supplies.
OSSD with majority of courses at College (C ) or Open (O) unless otherwise stated.
Grade 12 C courses will be accepted where Gr 11 C course requirements are listed.
Where College level courses are listed, U and M courses will be accepted.
Two Gr 11 courses will be accepted in lieu of a Gr 12 course requirement.

Mature Students
If you are 19 years of age or older before classes start, and you do not possess an OSSD, you can write the
Canadian Adult Achievement Test to assess your eligibility for admission. Additional testing or academic upgrading
may be necessary to meet specific course requirements for this program.
