SHIPSTORM

TOURNAMENT RULES & INFORMATION


1 Communication
1.1 All Participants must be present on the Shipstorm Discord server:
https://discord.gg/Wfc88A5
1.1.1 Teams with no obvious presence on the Shipstorm Discord server will not
participate in the tournament.
1.2 The official language of communication for Shipstorm is English.
1.2.1 Participants must be capable of clear communication in English, or elect
someone who is fluent in English to represent them.
1.3 All official communication from the Shipstorm Organizers will take place on the
Shipstorm Discord server.
1.3.1 All other communication should be considered unofficial; communication
from other sources is not guaranteed to be correct or updated.
1.4 Each team will be assigned a designated referee in the Discord server to serve as a
point of contact between the team and the Shipstorm Organizers.
1.5 Participants are expected to abide by the Code of Conduct (§9) in all communication
that takes place on the following platforms:
1.5.1 The Shipstorm Discord Server.
1.5.2 The Training Room lobby chat for Shipstorm matches.
1.5.3 The in-game chat service for Shipstorm matches.

1.6 Participants are expected to fully understand this document. Failure to understand
any section herein will not be accepted as justification for rule violations or
exceptions.

1.6.1 Channels will be provided in the Shipstorm Discord server to aid in


participants’ understanding of this document.
2 Registration
2.1 A team is made up of three to four (3-4) members consisting of one (1) Captain, two
(2) players, and zero to one (0-1) substitutes.
2.1.1 A team must have a unique and easily identifiable alphanumeric Tag
between two (2) and five (5) characters in length. Tags may be rejected at
the discretion of Shipstorm Organizers.
2.1.2 A team must have a unique Name which shares some obvious relation to
their Tag. Names may be rejected at the discretion of Shipstorm Organizers.
2.1.3 A Participant may only be a member of one (1) team.
2.1.4 The Captain is responsible for communication on behalf of the team.
2.2 Teams will register for Shipstorm using a dedicated website.

2.2.1 Team Members will log in to the website using the Wargaming account with
which they will participate.

2.2.1.1 All Team Members must log in to the website to accept the
invitation to a team or to create a team.

2.2.1.2 All Team Members must link their Discord account to the website
using the bot on the Shipstorm Discord.
2.2.2 Detailed registration instructions will be available on the Shipstorm Discord
prior to registration opening.
3 Format
3.1 Each team must have: one (1) Destroyer; one (1) Cruiser; one (1) Battleship.
3.2 One (1) ship is Tier Eight (VIII). Two (2) ships are Tier Seven (VII).
3.3 Only ships that can currently be obtained naturally through play are permitted.
3.3.1 Ships that are in the current tech tree, purchasable either with credits and/or
free XP are allowed.

3.3.2 Ships that are available for purchase in the arsenal for Coal or Steel are
allowed.
3.3.3 Reward ships that can be acquired through a current campaign are allowed.
3.3.4 Premium ships are that can only be obtained through doubloons, limited-
time events, through the premium shop, or through crates, are not allowed.
3.4 Ships unavailable to the public are forbidden.
3.5 Game time will be limited to 15 minutes.
3.6 Games must start at the time they are scheduled; no earlier or later.
3.6.1 A team that is not ready at the scheduled start time will forfeit the match.

3.7 If a member of any team is unavailable at the start time of a match, then that team
is allowed a maximum of one (1) bot in their stead.
3.7.1 The bot is subject to the same rules for ship selection as a Participant.
3.7.2 The bot is “Armed”.
3.7.3 The bot is “Active”.
3.7.4 The AI level of the bot is set to “High”.

3.8 If a member of any team encounters technical difficulties before the first minute of
the game and no players have received damage, that team may call a mulligan.
3.8.1 Mulligans must be reported to the team’s designated Referee.
3.8.2 Both teams must select the same ships that entered the game before the
mulligan was called. If a player is unavailable due to technical difficulties, a
bot of the same class may be substituted (§3.7).
3.8.3 Each team can call one (1) mulligan per match, and up to three (3) per day.
4 Structure
4.1 Shipstorm consists of a sequence of three (3) stages.
4.2 Stage I is Swiss with eight (8) rounds of play.
4.2.1 Each round of play consists of a Best of 1 Match.
4.2.2 There will be two (2) Groups: A and B. Each will contain approximately the
same number of teams, up to 128.

4.2.3 All teams in this stage will be from the same server cluster. Placement in
each group is random.
4.2.4 The top four (4) teams from each Group will advance to the Playoffs.
4.2.5 Ties will be broken by schedule strength.
4.3 Stage II is Round Robin with three (3) rounds of play.
4.3.1 Each round of play consists of a Best of 1 Match.
4.3.2 There are four (4) Groups: A, B, C and D. Each will contain four (4) teams.

4.3.3 Groups are seeded based on Stage I results:

4.3.3.1 Group A: A-1-NA > B-2-NA > A-3-EU > B-4-EU
4.3.3.2 Group B: A-1-EU > B-2-EU > A-3-NA > B-4-NA
4.3.3.3 Group C: B-1-NA > A-2-NA > B-3-EU > A-4-EU
4.3.3.4 Group D: B-1-EU > A-2-EU > B-3-NA > A-4-NA
4.3.4 The top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals.
4.3.5 Ties will be broken by seed.
4.4 Stage III is Single Elimination with two (2) rounds of play: semi-finals and finals.
4.4.1 Each round of play consists of a Best of 3 Match.
4.4.2 Semi-finals are seeded based on Stage II results:
4.4.2.1 Match 1: Winner of Group A vs. Winner of Group C
4.4.2.2 Match 2: Winner of Group B vs. Winner of Group D
5 Maps
5.1 Every game for a given round is played on the same map.
5.2 Images of each map can be found in the Appendix.
5.3 The following table lists the map used for each round.

6 Configuration
6.1 The team displayed on top in the Toornament matchup is designated Team One; the
remaining team is designated Team Two.

6.2 Team One hosts the Training Room and receives “Alpha” spawn. Important settings
are highlighted below.

6.2.1 The battle description is set to “{Team One’s Tag} vs {Team Two’s Tag}”.
6.2.2 “Hide enemy ships” is enabled.
6.2.3 The “Battle time” is set to “15 min.”.
6.3 Ensure that “All scenarios of the Training Room” is enabled in the “Controls” tab of
your game settings.
7 Results
7.1 A screenshot of the “Personal Score” tab of the post-battle screen(s) for a member
of the winning team should be posted in the Shipstorm Discord server in the
designated channel.
7.1.1 The post should contain the Team Tag of the winning team, the match score,
and the Team Tag of the losing team. Ex: “MEME 1 vs 0 RQL”
7.2 If there is a dispute between the participants of a match which prompts a participant
to call their designated Referee, then the Referee is granted the ability to declare
the match complete and assign a result.
7.3 One (1) member of each team must have replays enabled. Failure to have replay
enabled could cause the affected team to forfeit a match if a Shipstorm Organizer or
Referee requires the replay to settle a dispute.
7.4 If a team’s opposition is not ready at the scheduled start-time of the match, then
they may request a Referee to rule a forfeiture.
7.5 If match results are not posted twenty minutes (20:00) after the scheduled start-
time of the match, then both teams may be given a forfeit.
8 Rewards
8.1 Rewards are granted to each team in a pool. Captains may decide how to distribute
rewards earned amongst team members using a provided spreadsheet. Teams that
fail to submit this spreadsheet will have their rewards distributed at the discretion of
the Shipstorm Organizers.

8.1.1 All teams which complete all matches in Stage I (Swiss Stage) will receive:
- 4x small “Secret Santa” containers
- EU/NA Flag

8.1.2 Teams which place within 9th-16th in their Swiss Group will receive:
- 8 000 Coal

8.1.3 Teams which place within 5th-8th in their Swiss Group will receive:
- 16 000 Coal
8.1.4 Teams which advance only to Stage II (Round Robin Groups) will receive:
- 16 000 Coal
- 40x FTW Camos

8.1.5 The Team which places in 4th overall will receive:


- 20 000 Coal
- 4 000 Doubloons
- 4x Tier V Premium Ships of their choosing, subject to availability
8.1.6 The Team which places in 3rd overall will receive:
- 20 000 Coal
- 4 000 Doubloons
- 4x Tier VI Premium Ships of their choosing, subject to availability
- 4x World of Warships T-Shirts

8.1.7 The Team which places in 2nd overall will receive:


- 20 000 Coal
- 4 000 Doubloons
- 4x Tier VII Premium Ships of their choosing, subject to availability
- 4x World of Warships Hoodies
8.1.8 The Team which places in 1st overall will receive:
- 40 000 Coal
- 8 000 Doubloons
- 4x Tier VIII Premium Ships of their choosing, subject to availability
- 4x Razer Kraken Headsets
- US$120 Cash Prize, deliverable via PayPal only
8.2 During Stage I of Shipstorm, four (4) competitions known as Tempests will be
available to all Participants.
8.2.1 The Participant who deals the highest damage in a single battle will win the
Tempest of Big Numbers.
8.2.1.1 The current record held for the Tempest of Big Numbers is:
140 611 Damage
8.2.2 The Participant who lands the most torpedoes in a single battle will win the
Tempest of Steel Fish.

8.2.2.1 Ties in the Tempest of Steel Fish are awarded to the player who
dealt the most damage in the match that the record was set.

8.2.2.2 The current record held for the Tempest of Steel Fish is:
7 Torpedo Hits

8.2.3 The Participant who hits the most citadels in a single battle will win the
Tempest of Terror.
8.2.3.1 Ties in the Tempest of Terror are awarded to the player who dealt
the most damage in the match that the record was set.
8.2.3.2 The current record held for the Tempest of Terror is:
10 Citadel Hits
8.2.4 The Participant who secures the most cumulative kills will win the Tempest
of Dedication.
8.2.4.1 Ties in the Tempest of Dedication are awarded to the player who
dealt the most cumulative damage.
8.2.4.2 The current record held for the Tempest of Dedication is:
8 Kills

8.2.5 Each Participant who wins one of the Tempests defined above will receive:
- 1x large “Secret Santa” container
- 5x of each Special Signal
8.2.6 Each Participant who wins one of the Tempests defined above and breaks
the current record held for the statistic tracked in that Tempest will receive:
- 2x large “Secret Santa” container
- 5x of each Special Signal
9 Streaming
9.1 Players are permitted to stream a match in which they participate.

9.1.1 Players that are not official casters must have a stream delay of five minutes
(5:00).
9.2 Official casters will be designated by the Shipstorm Organizers.
9.2.1 Players may apply for the official caster role by direct messaging one of the
Organizers on the Shipstorm Discord. Accepted applications will come from
players with prior casting experience or significant streaming experience.
9.2.2 Official casters are required to have a three-minute (3:00) stream delay.
9.2.3 Official casters are required to use the official Shipstorm Stream Overlay
provided.

9.2.4 Official casters are always expected to act professionally and treat all
Participants with respect.

9.2.5 Official casters must comply with the guidelines and requirements specified
by Shipstorm commercial sponsors.
9.3 Third parties are permitted to stream a match given the following:
9.3.1 Both teams in the match must agree to be streamed.
9.3.2 Third parties will stream the match as spectators.
9.3.3 Third parties are required to have a five-minute (5:00) stream delay.
9.4 Spectators must enter the match in a Tier One (I) ship.

9.4.1 Each team must have the same number of ships. If one team has more
spectators than the other, then a Tier One (I) bot should be placed on the
opposite team.
9.4.1.1 The bot is neither armed nor active.
9.4.2 Spectators will ram an opponent who spawns immediately in front of them.
10 Conduct
10.1 All Participants must accept and abide by the Wargaming.net End User License
Agreement (EULA).
10.1.1 An English language version of the EULA for the North America Cluster can be

10.1.3 Non-English versions of the EULA have been left unlisted in this document.
10.2 Participants can use any mod available in Aslain’s mod pack or Wargaming’s mod
pack. All other mods are forbidden, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
10.3 Participants who receive press accounts in order to participate in the international
Playoffs are not permitted to use these accounts outside of Shipstorm matches.
