Unit: HLTH2203 Physical Performance Lab Sport: Touch Rugby Week: 2


Activity 1 - Warm Up – Tricky Touchdown

Learners: - Notre Dame students will be developing skills and abilities of
cricket
Equipment: - 15 cones, 5 balls
Space: - 5x5m squares
Time: - 10 minutes per drill
Instructions - Split students into two groups (attackers and defenders)
for Activity - Attackers run around the cone in front and attempt to score
a try
- Defenders attempt to tag attackers
Variations - Use a bean bag instead of a ball
and - Attackers step over cone

Activity 2 – 3v2 keepy off

Learners: - Notre Dame students will be developing skills and abilities of
cricket
Equipment: - 15 cones, 8 balls
Space: - 10x10m squares
Time: - 10 minutes
Instructions - Students are in groups of 5, 3 offense, 2 defence
for Activity - Attackers aim to score a try
- Defenders aim to tag the attackers
- Swap
Variations - Make multiple grids for bigger groups
and - Implement a time limit
Progressions - 2v1

Activity 3 – 3 on1 initiate the touch

Learners: - Notre Dame students will be developing skills and abilities of
cricket
Equipment: - 1 ball per 4 students
Space: - 10x10m
Time: - 10 minutes
Instructions - Students are split into groups of four, 3 offensive and 1
for Activity defensive
- Defender starts on the first five meter line
- Attackers aim is to score a try
- Defenders aim is to tag attackers
Variations - Point system

Activity 4 – Pick and pop

Learners: - Notre Dame students will be developing skills and abilities of
cricket
Equipment: - 1 x ball per three
Space: - 10x10m
Time: - 10 minutes

Instructions 1. Students are split into groups of four, 3 offensive and 1
for Activity defensive
2. Defender starts on the first five meter line
3. Attackers aim is to perform roll ball, dumby half picks up
the ball and pops it to running player on the wing
4. Defenders aim is to tag attackers
Variations - Increase or decrease distance between groups depending on
and skill level
Progressions - Add a scoring system
