Airlines system

Introduction
In today's era, the airline industry is trying to make improvements in their technological as well
as the customer service sector. The improvements are going on in every kind of sector such as
flight inventory or making arrangements in seating, etc.
After the introduction of the airline system in the year 1950s, the worldwide web is undergoing
several changes in terms of providing online reservation services and the other facilities related
to traveling. The Internet has become an indispensable part of the life of humans. Today people
demand to make a reservation from their home itself without moving out of their places.
Therefore, a computerized reservation (online) system is used as a mode to book flight tickets
and make all kinds of flight reservations.

Problem Description
In most of the airline system, the reservation system is running manually by the people. This
process is time-consuming and therefore has become a difficult task for lots of people to
booking tickets all at one go through agents. People are continuously engaged in booking the
tickets to their phones and often find the process cumbersome and irritating when it becomes
difficult for the agents to tackle all sorts of queries on phone itself along with booking the
tickets. It is often observed that the clients tend to forget the details while receiving the phones
for the reservation of the flights. Another difficult task is to keep a record of the people getting
registered while managing the manual current system. All these processes need a large amount
of time for feeding the data and also require immense labor power.

System Objectives
1. The major objective is to manage the automated online reservation system for minimizing
the waste of time, manpower and money.
2. Identification of the inefficiencies and errors in the current manual system
3. Determination of the system requirements and designs
4. Implementation of the web developed services and online airline reservation system
5. Validation of the new launch of system analysis and design

Significance of the studies

As far as online reservation system is concerned, it provides the minimization of the time as
well as money and also helps in minimizing repetitive labor. Now there are several kinds of
modes available for the communication between the client and the agent such as phone,
internet, emergency department, and other physical gadgets (Henry, 2001).
It is also observed that many flights have reduced the number of vacancies after the
introduction of the online reservation system and finally led to the maximization of the
utilization of the flight capacity. The burden on the agents and travelers is minimized and also
reduced the frustration level among the travelers at the time of urgent ticket reservation.

Components of the online reservation system

Hardware
Hardware defined as any physical assets that need to compile the particular information
processing system. The online reservation system not only includes a computer machine and
monitors but also tangible data and media resources.

Software
All sorts of instructions and commands which are required to process the different types of
mechanisms and programs that help in enabling the hardware devices (Diane, 1993).
Application software and system software help in controlling all sorts of specific tasks and for
keeping the relational database in their wastage of time which could not be possible while
doing the flight reservations in the manual system. The information system are greatly
influenced by the people and people act as a mode to deliver the required information to the
clients thereby, playing a crucial role in the form of professionals, programmers, business
analyst and operators of the computer (Global, 2012).

Procedures
A certain set of instructions and information are combined with hardware as well as software
requirements for the generation of the desired output. They regularly regulate the database
management system and other relational manipulations while managing the Airlines
systematically (Airline, 2012).

Business Benefits
The following are the advantages of the online reservation system
1. It offers an easy and convenient mode of booking flight tickets through laptops and
smartphones (Winston, 1995).
2. There is a reduction in the prolonged delays and longtime phone calls while making booking
and reservation.
3. It becomes very simple to cancel the booking or to change the time schedule during
emergencies and unpredictable conditions (Alter, 2008).
4. The travelers need not wait for the customer's service agent’s help and assistance. Since they
can do the same job on their own.
5. The online mode of reservation system has increased the contentment level in the clients
and the airline system is able to capture the customer reviews to make the due changes from
time to time.

Application of reservation system

The computer booking system has helped in the adequate management of seating
arrangements and in making my transactions. This system is particularly designed by the
computer reservation system and is under the operation of Global distribution system. This
system handles multiple numbers of Airlines and other customer services. The relational
database system also keeps a record of the hotel room booking after reaching the destination,
etc. The reservation for trains and other modes of travel have also become very convenient
with the computerized reservation system.

The logical model has been developed for the computerized system that indicates the
procedural steps leading to the business modeling and operating the global distribution system.
The proposed system has led to the development of an efficient and understandable physical
design that is under the realization to execute the logical concepts. All sorts of diagrams such as
use case diagram, system sequence diagram, multilayer sequence diagram, design Class
diagram, domain model Class diagram, etc. help in the management of the flowing of the data
through the sequential stages and also assist in the process of implementation of the systemic
impact (European Parliament, 2008).

Conclusion
The world developed computerized Global system has overpowered advantages and benefits
offered by the manual system. The airline reservation system has offered encouragement to
travelers and consumers to patronize the system. Hence, the user's requirements would
upgrade the applications embedded in the consumer's reservation system and make the online
platform more effective and proactive in offering multiple benefits to the clients indeed.
