In the article On the Conception of Low Comedy in Aristophanes by Alfred Emerson, the
author stated that “An artist is not obliged to ask the world into his workshop” but the reality is
that comedy revolved around normal people moving up in the world and would feature a happier
ending. It means that the poet’s daily life itself can never be separated from his workshop. In
literary circles, people often talk of high comedy and low comedy. Instead of giving the
explanation of both high comedy and low comedy, the author merely talks about the low comedy
itself. I know that Aristophanes uses low comedy on his drama, but giving an explanation about
the differences of those kinds of comedy will be interesting and easy to be understood to the
average reader, and it required several readings to establish why the author felt this study needed
the analysis of burlesque is well organized but, due to the difficulty of the analogy used, will not
stand alone to the average reader. And in the Comic Terminations in Aristophanes Part V, I think
the findings are not well organized and not sectioned. There is no correlation between the ending
of the story with the grammar used. The author had better conclude how Aristophanes ends his
comedy drama whether it is full of comic surprises or not. This is an in-depth analysis of a
comedy drama project, particularly for a journal article. For the most part, it was well written and
well organized. There was a definite need for a short review of the literature to develop the
situation. The article did get a little complicated in the reporting of data due to the complicated
analogy used. Overall, it was a very interesting, significant contribution to the field of research.
