Volunteers are called for from the staff of P W ay Wing who fulfil the
condition stipulated below for selection to form a pa nel for filling up of 66
vacancies (UR-51 , SC-10, ST-5) of JE/P .Way in PB RS.9300-34800 with GP
Rs4200 against 20% LDCE quota of Civil Engg . dept.

The selection comprises of Written test (Paper I & II) followed by perusal .
of records

The eligibility conditions are:


1. should be from the category of Tracl<. Maintalnel s of all grades of Civil
Engg dept. working in any cadre such as USFD staff, Black Smith,
Hammerman , Welder, Moulder, Aligner, Paintel', C rpenter, etc . working on
P.Way side.

2. Should have completed 3 years regular railway service in PWay wing. as on


the date of notification

3. Should have the educational qualification of 10+2 pass with at least thl'ee
subjects out of Maths, Physics, ChemistlY and COIllPuter Science
( or)
having Diploma in Civil Engineering IClvil Eng in eering [Transportation] .
(Diplomas should have the recognition I afflliatio /l of ACICTE.)

4. Should be below 45 years age as on the date of notification.

5. Willing employees who fulfil the above eligibilit y conditions may submit
their application in the proforma Annexure 'A ' on or before '15 .7.15 to
their respective controlling officers who Illay fOlwal'd the application duly

This paper contains questions based as to test the knowled ge f candidates, which they
would acquire by
general observation/reading without a specific study or detailed knowledge of text
books. The paper shou ld also contain questions on topics or national importance,
achievements of Railways as also questions which will test the awaren ss of candidates
to developments which are taking place. Some questions will be on basics of computer
knowledge
2. Soil mechanics
Elements of soil mechanics, Physical properties of soils, C0 illpaction, field methods of
compaction stabilization of soils, Specifications and construction of earth work in
embankment and cuttings, Side and catch water drains.
3. Surveying
Chain and Compass Survey - basic principles, base lines, check lines, tick lines,
perpendicular and oblique offsets, conventional signs, plotting of survey, true and
magnetic bearings, open and closed traverses, recordin~ ( plott in g of traverse, closing
errors.
Plane Table Survey - plane table outfit, methods of r'acliation, intersection and
traversing, contouring with plane table using telescopic alidade, rner-its and demerits<.
Levellin g - Level Lines - Datum, bench marks, simple leveling, Fly leveling, recording the
levels in field book method reducing levels, arithmetical check I_ongitudlnal and croS5­

Rs.4200 under 20% LDCE.

1. There shall not be supplementary w ritten e xaminalion as it IS on


volunteers are called for.

2. The post of JE/P .Wa y is a selection post and q ua lifying marks IS 60%
and there shall not be any relaxation for employees of reserved
community

3. Volunteered employees of reserved cO lllmullily will be imparted pre­


selection training for 21 days at Training centl·e .

4. List of eligible employees, Training sch ed ule for employees from


reserved community along with date of wl'it h3 11 exam illation will be
advised by 28.08. 15.
