Aftercooler - Install

Installation Procedure

1. Assemble seals (16) to aftercooler core (15).

2. Temporarily secure the bottom seal with tape. Do not use RTV , adhesive, or lubricants to keep the
seals in place.

3. Use two people and install aftercooler core (15) to the engine. The weight of the aftercooler is 36 kg
(80 lb).

4. Assemble the aftercooler with the seal to the inlet manifold.

5. Inspect the bottom seal in order to ensure the correct seating in the recess area.

6. Install air inlet cover (14).

7. Inspect the upper seal in order to ensure the correct seating in the recess area.

8. Install bolts (13).

9. Install bolts (12) on the bracket for the turbocharger oil line.

Tightening Sequence

10. Tighten bolts (13) in numerical order to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

11. Torque bolts (13) again in numerical order to 47 N·m (35 lb ft).

12. Remove the tape from the bottom seal.

13. Install both inlet housings (10).

14. Install bolts (9).

15. Install tube assembly (11).

16. Install elbows (8) and install bolts (7).

17. Install bolts (6) on the elbows at each end of the aftercooler.

18. Connect tube assembly (5).

19. Install electrical connector (4).

20. Install tube assembly (2) and install bracket (3).

21. Install tube assembly (1).

22. Fill the radiator coolant to the correct level.

Note: Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for all fluid capacities and the proper filling
procedures.

End By:
a. Install the hood. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hood - Remove and Install".
