Teen Pregnancy

Do you think that teenage pregnancy is a problem in today’s society? The United States

has one of the highest teen pregnancy rates in the western industrialized world. Now a day,

teenagers are becoming sexually active without thinking about the consequences and

understanding the precautions that should be taken when doing so. Everyday teenagers are

putting themselves at risk of getting pregnant and they need to know that things like STD’s,

abortions, and lack of knowledge can affect them in the long run.

Sexually transmitted diseases are factors that may occur in teen pregnancy. According to

Medicine Net, “Unprotected sex can lead to cases of unwanted pregnancy and sexually

transmitted diseases in teens. Contrasting a STD while pregnant is dangerous for both mother

and baby.” However, many people think that sexually transmitted disease may occur in ten

pregnancies. Teenagers now a days aren’t careful or cautious with what they are doing. They are

at risk from getting a disease which can harm them and the baby. People need to be careful

because some disease cannot be cured and can be deadly. You need to be checked to make sure

you are healthy and avoid it.

Abortion is another factor or thought that shouldn’t occur or be a choice when it comes to

any pregnancy in general. As reported by WebMD, “It is a poverty to decade that a child must
die so that you may live as you wish.” On the other hand, other people think that it should be a

choice; as well as it being okay. No baby deserves to lose their life for the mother’s satisfaction.

If the mother doesn’t want her child there will always be adoption etc. There will always be other

options. Abortion should never be an option regardless if it’s your baby or not. There are other

alternative options to find the right way.

Teen pregnancy is the leading cause of females dropping out of high school. In addition

to eMedicineHealth, “One of the main causes of the monetary cats of teen pregnancies is the lack

of education the teen mothers receive.” Many do not agree with the fact that teen pregnancy is

the cause of females dropping out of school. There’s nothing wrong with getting pregnant and

having a baby but you need to make sure that actions don’t affect your education and career.

Overall, your education is something that you need to be extremely cautious about because it’s

pretty much your life and future and having a baby will really affect it.

In conclusion, teenagers these days are starting to experience puberty and are starting to

get more sexually active. Due to the sexual activity, STD’s and viruses can occur as well as

unplanned pregnancies. People have to be cautious about what they are doing and make sure they

are aware of the consequences that can occur as well. Teens have to just learn to protect

themselves so they don’t deal with things that they weren’t up for or did not expect.
