The Chief Ministers of India are the heads of their respective state governments.
There are Chief Ministers in India in every one of the twenty-nine states and even in two
Union Territories (Delhi and Puducherry).

Following elections to the state legislative assembly, the governor usually invites the
party (or coalition) with a majority of seats to form the government in the state. The
governor appoints the chief minister, whose council of ministers are collectively
responsible to the assembly.

Some Trivia about Chief Ministers in India
 Sikkim's Pawan Kumar Chamling has the longest incumbency, serving since
December 1994 (for 21 years, 161 days).
 Parkash Singh Badal (born 1927) of Punjab is the oldest of all chief ministers in
India.
