BELIEF DBQ SYSTEMS ESSAY: TYPE OR PASTE FINAL DRAFT HERE:

Throughout History Buddhism and Christianity had a spread in many ways of Social,Economic and Political developments in
many regions and Buddhism and Christianity had many different effects and both did things differently.
Buddhism is a religion that is really powerful and dominant. Buddhism spread to a specific region like Japan. According to
document #9 it says “First as a religion it brought to japan a new system of beliefs and pious attitudes.” The quote shows that buddhism is
playing a role where it benefits the ones who follow buddhism and gave them new beliefs and it came to japan by Buddhism being spread around.
The spread of Buddhism was similar to the spread of christianity. In a sheet about Buddhism it said “Many Buddhist sects emerged, but three
became most significant. The longest, the pure land, emphasized prayer and faith for salvation, stressed the equality of all believers, and was
very popular among the lower classes.”The quote explains one of the three major rules and what it did and also talked about how it was popular
among the lower class because of equality and it happened because the rules helped out and kept control with the leading and the religion.
Buddhism affects the region socially. In document #8 it says “During the Three Kingdoms period, Korea’s cultural progress in the fields of
astronomy, mathematics, medicine, architecture, and metallurgy reached the level of other advanced civilization of the world.” This quote shows
that Buddhism is helping Korea get more knowledge in fields like medicine, math, and more. Also in an outside document it says “In the third
century B.C. King Asoka maurya united northern India, using Buddhism to expand his empire and his legitimise its power”. This shows that
Buddhism was used for control and empire and it helped King Asoka get Northern India together and he became more legit so that he wouldn’t do
more bad things.
Christianity was a religion that done things different. In document 5 it says “In a converted community, services and fiestas were regularly
held in the church buildings.” This shows that people had to convert into christians and when they do they had many events in the church
buildings too. In a document about Christianity it says “Africans forged a new religion that blended African and Christian beliefs.”This shows that
Christianity can bond with other belief systems which means that Christianity can tolerate other rules from different religions and it would be called
syncretism. The belief system of Christianity affected the regions politically. In document #4 it says,“He(Cortes) begged them to become willing
vassals of the emperor because that was the will of the pope in whose name he spoke.” The quote is saying that Cortes is trying to ask the people
who the pope called out to offer the emperor help and land. In an outside document it stated,“The catholic church played a key role in the colony
working with the government to convert Native Americans to Christianity.” The quote is explaining the role of what the Catholic churches played
and how it worked was that as it expanded, some Spanish empires forced the European culture amongst the Native Americans.
The belief systems have different influences by Buddhism having 3 major rules to follow and they try to be able to achieve nirvana
while they are still peaceful.Christianity is less peaceful because they forced people to convert and did other many terrible things like destroying
territory and building over it. How It was different was by Christianity forcing Native Americans to convert while Buddhism gave you a choice to
convert. People would convert to Buddhism for more equality and achieve Nirvana. The result of the 2 conversions gave both religions different
amounts of power to lead their group too.
