Introduction
This Special Instruction provides installation instructions for the new fan motor that is equipped with
a case drain. Follow the procedure below for machines with the following serial numbers:
• 725 (S/N: B1L1-1942,2137-2360; AFX1179-UP)
• 730 (S/N: B1M1-2008,2352-2772; AGF1092-UP)
• 730 Ejector (S/N: B1W1-331,351-367)
Refer to ""Supplemental Information for Machines Equipped with Case Drain Lines" " for machines
that are already fitted with case drain lines. This supplemental information applies to machines with
the following serial numbers:
• 725 (S/N: B1L1943-2136)
• 730 (S/N: B1M2009-2351)
• 730 Ejector (S/N: B1W332-350)

Only required for machines equipped with case drain lines. See supplemental information.
Installation Procedure
1. Remove the two large side cover panels from the cooling package behind the operator cab.
2. Remove the existing gear motor group. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, RENR3446, "725,
730, and 730 Ejector Articulated Trucks Engine Supplement". Install a new 293-6517 Gear
Motor Gp .
3. Replace the 249-8844 Tube As with 344-2570 Tube As . This supply oil tube connects to the
upper face of the motor and runs to the left-hand side of the radiator group.
4. Replace the 257-3808 Tube As with 344-2572 Tube As . This return oil tube connects to the
lower face of the motor and runs to the left-hand side of the radiator group.
Note: A 344-3294 Tube As is required to provide case drain oil flow to the hydraulic tank.
When installing the hydraulic tubes for the motor, mount the 344-3294 Tube As in position
before completing the installation of the tubes. Access to install the 344-3294 Tube As may be
restricted once the other tubes have been installed.
5. Install a 3J-1907 O-Ring Seal onto the 6V-8724 Elbow . Install the 6V-8724 Elbow into the
case drain port of the new hydraulic motor. Do not tighten the swivel nut. Install a 6V-8397 O-
Ring Seal into the exposed seal groove of the 6V-8724 Elbow .

6. Install the 344-3294 Tube As (1). Connect the 344-3294 Tube As (1) to the 6V-8724 Elbow (2).
Refer to Illustration 1.
7. Working in the fan motor area, clamp the 344-3294 Tube As (1) to the 344-2570 Tube As and
the 344-2572 Tube As . Use a 5P-9297 Clip (3) with the original clamps and hardware. Refer to
Illustration 2 and Illustration 3.
8. Refer to Illustration 4 and Illustration 5. Clamp the 344-3294 Tube As (1) to the 344-2570 Tube
As where the tubes are routed at the left-hand side of the cooling package. Secure with the
following hardware:
◦ 5P-9297 Clip (3)
◦ 8T-1885 Clip (4)
◦ 8T-1886 Clip (5)
◦ 8T-4136 Bolt (6)
◦ 8T-4121 Hard Washer (7)
◦ 8T-4133 Nut (8)
9. At the left-hand side of the cooling package, clamp the 344-3294 Tube As (1) to the 344-2570
Tube As and the 344-2572 Tube As . Secure with the remaining 5P-9297 Clip (3) with the
original clamps and hardware. Refer to Illustration 6 and Illustration 7.
10. Tilt the operator cab. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for the particular
machine you are working on.
Cover panel location
11. Remove the cover panel on the left-hand fender to gain access to the top of the hydraulic tank.
Relieve the pressure in the hydraulic tank. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual for
the particular machine you are working on.
12. Remove the small steel tube (10) that is located between the hydraulic filter stack and the steel
block on the hydraulic tank cover. The block was intended to house an oil pressure sensor that
was not used in production and therefore is not required. Remove the straight adapter (11) at the
block and the 45 degree adapter (9) at the filter stack. Discard all of these parts.
13. Install a 3J-7354 O-Ring Seal on to the 9S-4182 O-Ring Plug . Install the 9S-4182 O-Ring Plug
into the open port on the steel block.
14. Install the 3J-1907 O-Ring Seal and 6V-8397 O-Ring Seal onto the 8T-1905 Elbow . Install the
8T-1905 Elbow into the open port on the hydraulic filter stack. Orientate the 8T-1905 Elbow so
that the open end is directed towards the operator cab.

15. Connect the 167-1232 Hose As (12) to the 8T-1905 Elbow (13) at the hydraulic tank and the
344-3294 Tube As (1) in the cooling package area. Secure the hose to the existing hydraulic
lines under the cab along the left-hand side of the machine. Route through the rubber grommet
in the bottom panel of the cooling package ducting. Make sure that the hose cannot be damaged
in service by rubbing against other components. Secure the hose with the 6U-0456 Straps and
6U-0455 Straps . Refer to Illustration 10 thru Illustration 12.
16. Check and ensure all hoses, fittings, and hardware are fully secured and tightened.
17. Lower the operator cab.
18. Start the machine. Check for correct fan operation and for any oil leaks.
19. Reinstall all cover panels.
Supplemental Information for Machines Equipped with Case

Drain Lines
This supplemental information applies to machines with the following serial numbers:
• 725 (S/N: B1L1943-2136)
• 730 (S/N: B1M2009-2351)
• 730 Ejector (S/N: B1W332-350)
The Articulated Trucks in the serial number ranges listed above may:
• Already have fan gear motors that are equipped with case drain lines
• Have a fan motor that does not have a case drain port, but case drain lines may be fitted to the
machine
The existing lines cannot be easily adapted to suit the new 293-6517 Gear Motor Gp . The existing
lines should be removed and new lines should be installed.
Installation Procedure
1. Remove the existing case drain lines from the fan gear motor to the hydraulic tank.

2. When 323-3496 Hose As is removed from the tee fitting at the hydraulic tank, close the open
port using 6V-9829 Cap As (14). Refer to Illustration 13.
