Fortnite

Video games are such an entertainment in today’s generation for kids and even for

grown-ups. In today’s generation, we see kids playing videos more than we have ever seen and it

all started to become more of an addiction and problem. When the game called Fornite came out

to the world you could tell that this game was different than any other game people have played

before. Fornite is a Battle Royale and up to hundred players can play on live mode. It’s basically

has to do with one giant map and they battle each other and build skills and destructible

environments combine and have an intense combat, and the last one standing wins. You could

play this game basically in on anything a PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Mac, and on switches.

Interesting to say when these kids aren’t playing themselves, it’s become such an addiction that

they watch YouTube videos of other people playing the game and that’s how much the game has

made kids hooked to it playing Forntie.

One serious note though, this game has caused that kids no longer want to step outside

there room to play outside or even interact with their families. There’s also issues with kids not

getting enough because there’s stories a ninth grader who stays up till 3 or 4 in the morning

playing fornite, Ehmke, Rachel, and Child Mind Institute. “A Parent’s Guide to Dealing with

Fortnite.” Child Mind Institute. Some kids don’t desire to do homework and some are failing in

school because of the effect this type video game is causing on them. It’s been said to that

parents are worried because their kids seem even more glued to this game than others, and PhD
David Anderson says that ADHD and Behavior Disorders can happen while playing this game so

much and could get them in trouble. Sadly, kids as friends and even neighbors have seen that

playing together online is fun they don’t even have to get out of their rooms to interact with their

friends through this game.

In my personal experience parents need to also be alert on how much their children are

playing fornite. Many parents today tend to let their kids kill 6 to 10 hours a day just on media

and electronics. Without any type of boundary or limit on these kids playing games the likely of

kids being addicted to fornite will continue to increase all throughout the world. There might be

also a responsibility for parents to put there foot down. Many kids sometimes are left alone to

entertain themselves with toys or other things parents buy them in order for them to not be

bothered. It can be a huge mistake for many parents because they don’t understand how much

harm they are causing their kids, in letting them play with media and games for such a long

period of time. Especially because the game fornite has been shown that it is a huge issue in kids

being addicted to this game. The things that are so catchy for kids is the fact that the game has

com compelling catch. In this game, you battle to death and there’s only one winner left

standing. It also lets you construct things and build forts and find an environment. They can also

loot supplies and equipment to defeat their opponent. Randomly throughout the game supplies

drops from the sky and they can also find chest that is sparkling throughout the map. So,

obviously there’s things on this fornite game that can be a fun thing to play and even something

that you just don’t want to stop playing.

One other scary thing to be aware about fornite is that on the game you can buy things to

build up your fort or strengthen your player on the game. It’s such a scam of how to make

money, and it’s been said on the web that people send hundreds of dollars, like an example this
child stole their moms credit card and spent over 200 dollars on the game (Gamequitters) We

hear about a 9-year-old girl in the U.K who was sent to rehab for fornite addiction. The signs to

be aware of this type of addiction are the following, impaired control over gaming, increasing

priority given to gaming to the extent that gaming takes precedence over other life interest and

daily activities and continuing or escalation of gaming despite the occurrence of negative

consequence( Gamequitters).

The game itself has things that can be misguiding a child to do things and lead this child

to think certain things in the game are okay to do. Fornite is a PEGI rating of 12 and most

children under 12 play this game and are the ones addicted to it. The games reviews say’s, the

reason why its 12 and up is because their violence is killing someone throughout the game about

99 people and being the last one standing. Can be a bit controlling to be the last standing, and it

also has certain weapons that be an idea or an obsession that they like to use. My nephew is

addicited to playing fornite the kid when’s he’s not playing makes sounds effects or really can

only talk about this game and how fun it is to play. He doesn’t like to play outside and hates the

outdoor activities. He was the only child for such a long time and for 8 years he didn’t have

anyone to play with so all he did to keep himself occupied was play on his games and once

fornite came around it totally made a huge impact on him because that year he turned 10 his

theme party was fornite so you could see how much he feel love with playing that game.

Fornite is an online video game developed by Epic Games and came out in 2017 and

different version keep coming out. As, much as the publishers know that they made a ton off this

game. They don’t care about the effect has made on kids, some really play and do other things,

but other kids are hooked and lost and are having behavioral problems. Kids are acting because

the fact they don’t want to do anything else with their family besides playing this game. Epic
Games only cares on how much money there making and enjoying it. Parents should be aware of

head time and know what there setting up their kids to do. If parents simply google things about

fornite so many negative links show about parents experience in having to deal with their child

because he or she became addicted and its something so serious, but I don’t think people

understand what this game can actually do to a child. Fornite is a great way to keep your children

entertained and occupied for a few hours. There will always be pros and cons to everything and

this game has its pros and cons, but many parents might not think a game could cause such an

effect on their child. Media has everything violence, inappropriate things that maybe a 12 and

under year child shouldn’t see! The best things parents should do is supervise their child while

playing fornite. To avoid having the pain of their kids going through several emotions and

struggles of school and throughout their lifetime. Kids need to be kids and play outside and get

the exercise they should get and interact with kids and not be stuck on a screen for hours.

Because fornite and be a fun game but is it worth the risk of being addicted.
