Presentation at: EU-India Conference on Advanced Biofuels

11.03.2019

Presentation by: Santosh Gondhalekar, Primove Engineering Pvt. Ltd., Pune, India
1
AgroGas – Proof of Concept Plant and Critical Research Outcomes

• Various lignocellulosic biomass can

be utilized in the ratio 9:1 (feed:gas)

• Biogas without addition of chemicals,

enzymes, catalysts or any pre-
treatment

• High reaction kinetics for gas

production

• Targeted enrichment of bacterial

consortium towards degradation of Filling AgroGas in 9,000 vehicles with total
biomass satisfaction expressed by vehicle owners has
• Zero Liquid Discharge plant (ZLD) been demonstrated at Proof-of-Concept plant

• Customized upgradation system for at Pirangut, Pune, India

higher Methane recovery

2
AgroGas – A Disruptive Technology by Primove

AgroGas – CBG produced from Agro Residue!

• Commercially Viable Patented Second Generation (2G) CBG Technology

• No chemical or enzymatic pre-treatment
• Established, proven, tested and undergoing commercialization

AgroGas – 2G CBG Technology

• BioGas from digestion of Cellulose/Hemicellulose is purified to meet Indian standard IS

16087:2016 for filling into vehicles

• Raw material for digestion:

(i) Agro Residue such as Rice straw, Soybean trash, Sugarcane trash, Maize straw,
Press mud, Bagasse, Corn cob etc.

(ii) Beyond Agro Residue any biomass containing cellulose or hemicellulose such as
grass, bamboo

3
AgroGas (2G CBG): Indicative Cost Economics

AgroGas (2G CBG) plants of various sizes 5/10/25 TPD are possible based on biomass
availability. Higher the plant capacity, shorter is the project payback period.

Sr. No. Particulars Value Unit

1 Raw Material – Biomass with 10% 45 Ton Per Day

moisture
2 AgroGas (2G CBG) 5 Ton Per Day
3 Sludge (undigested Biomass) with 25% 26 Ton Per Day
moisture
5 Capital Investment* 18 ₹ Crore
6 Subsidy available (MNRE) 4.25 ₹ Crore

7 Simple Payback Period 30 Months About 2.5 Years

*The exact CAPEX will be ascertained at Detailed Project Report (DPR) stage.

4
So why let farmers burn biomass and create pollution...?

When there is a solution…?
